Following the success of the ‘Same car GTR Cup’, it is time to announce the next racing series...

The Rising Sun Cup

75820.max200.jpg

Thursday, 11th August 2011 sees the start of the 12 round series, featuring a selection of Japanese GT cars on a variety of challenging and fun tracks.

Drivers will be split into teams of 2 and there will be a concurrent Team championship. Each driver and teams best 10 results will count, so if you have a bad race or can't make a race, you will not suffer, unless you miss 3 or more events. Team-mates must drive the exact same car (same livery too).

There will be a fun / test session consisting of various short races on the 4th August, so drivers can get to know their cars and team-mates.

Please only enter this series if you are keen to see it though to the end.

Please see the selection of available cars and enter the series by replying below with:

- Your PSN name
- The car you would like to drive
- Your preferred team-mate

- Races held in my private lounge (PSN ID = 'worduphomes').
- Lounge opens at 8pm GMT.
- Practice/qualy will last until 8:30pm. See below for the ballast system and track entry rules. Race starts immediately thereafter (Grid = fastest first).
- 12 entries for the championship (Reserve drivers welcome to apply too, to race if you can't make it).
- Everyone uses the car they are assigned at the beginning of the championship.
- Tyre choice and all driver aids will be available.
- The races will be long enough so that pit-stop strategy comes into play.
- The championship will last 12 rounds.
- Damage will be set to none and penalties set to weak.
- There will be a maximum of 590pp set for all races.
- Races will have rolling starts with a formation lap unless announced otherwise before the event.

Points will be assigned as follows:
1st - 30
2nd - 24
3rd - 20
4th - 18
5th - 16
6th - 14
7th - 12
8th - 10
9th - 9
10th - 8
11th - 7
12th - 6
13th - 5
14th - 4
15th - 3
16th - 1

Ballast System and new start proceedure.

The top 5 drivers in the championship will receive a 'ballast' penalty at each event (except for the 1st and last race) where thay have to reduce the PP (using the power limiter) by:
1st-7pp, 2nd-5pp, 3rd-3pp, 4th-2pp, 5th-1pp

There will be bonus points available at each round - aimed mostly at the regular drivers who are near the bottom of the championship and there will also be prizes of additional PP allowed for the next race. Details will be announced before the start of each event.

- At 20h20 qualifying ends.
- A photo of the grid as it stands will be taken.
- Everybody will be asked to leave the track and pits.
- The 'allowed PP' will be set to 583pp and the championship leader will be asked to go to the track.
- The 'allowed PP' will be set to 585pp and the 2nd placed driver will be asked to go to the track.
- The 'allowed PP' will be set to 587pp and the 3rd placed driver will be asked to go to the track.
- The 'allowed PP' will be set to 588pp and the 4th placed driver will be asked to go to the track.
- The 'allowed PP' will be set to 589pp and the 5th placed driver will be asked to go to the track.
- The 'allowed PP' will be set to 590pp and drivers who do not have a prize PP advantage will be asked to go to the track.
- The 'allowed PP' will be set to 593pp and those drivers who do have a prize PP advantage will be asked to go to the track.
- The original grid order from the photo will be read out.
- The race will be started and during the first part of the formation lap drivers must re-arrange themselves in the order given.
-After the first corner of lap 2 overtaking can commence and the race is under way as normal.

If any driver is deemed to be cheating this system in any way (by pretending to be disconnected and arriving later with higher PP for example), they will be kicked from the lounge and banned from the following event.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rules:

Formation lap / rolling start

I will add 1 lap to the total number of laps. when the lights go green we start a 'formation lap' with no overtaking until after the 1st corner on lap2.

The 'first corner' will be be the first tight corner after the start/finish straight and an exact definition will be made clear before the race.

The pace on the formation lap will be controlled by the pole sitter and he must please try and drive around half to 75% of race speed. Before each race a certain point on the track will be announced as the point where the pole sitter can accelerate up to race speed at any point he wishes.

The only time anyone is allowed to overtake anyone else is if a car ahead goes off the track. If you go off the track during the formation lap, you loose your position and cannot overtake to get back to your grid position. You must slot in anywhere you can without coliding with another driver. The formation lap is officially complete at the exit of the first corner on lap2. Drivers are not allowed to brake hard or make and dangerous moves on the formation lap to try to displace another driver.

If someone lags badly on the formation lap and you think they have gone off the track and you have overtaken them, you can see the way they shoot back past you into position in an unrealistic way, so YOU CAN tell the difference between a lagger and someone who had genuinely gone off the track on the formation lap

I will save a replay of the race and drivers will be deducted an appropriate amount of points for any misbehaviour on the formation lap.

General rules

- No aggressive bumping or hitting.
- One move only blocking (like F1). If being passed you may move to block (no hitting) once in one direction, afterwards if the car gets to the other side then you must allow the pass. This usually only applies only on straits.
- The lead car has the right away, the racing line, and sets the braking point through corners. RESPECT THEIR RIGHT! Try braking early and beating them on exit speed, or waiting for them to slip up.
- Late braking and corner diving is a risky move, often resulting in car-to-car contact. While this move is allowed, use caution as it may result in a bump off track and multiple offenses of this nature will result in loss of points or disqualification from series. This is most important in the first corner, don’t ruin your chance or anyone else’s by trying to skip 5 spots. Respect that those racers out-qualified you and earn your places.
-To put it simply: behave in the races as if you were in a real world car race.
- In the event of a disconnection, you will still receive points for the round based upon your performance up until the point you were disconnected.

Car contact incidents are part of racing and will always happen. Nobody is perfect.
Everybody makes involuntary driving errors. The important thing is to stay fair.

Here is the procedure to follow in case of an important incident:
-In case of an incident, always first look at the replay
- If after seeing the replay, you still think another driver has disadvantaged you, first contact him by PM.
- If that does not resolve the incident, send a PM to the race steward (host).
- Steward will review the replay and if necessary take a race-decision.
- Never accuse another driver publicly.

The above wording is based on the wording used by WSCC in their rules. thanks guys for making good model rules.

Super GT series are popular these days..

Well we used to run with the same Calsonic GTR, but that doesn't look too pretty in replays when it's impossible to distinguish anyone -_- So into a new Super GT series it turned.

There's just quite a bit of GT500 series going on at the moment, you may want to hold off for awhile.

I think since this season I'm gonna be gone so much I could be a relief driver. But I don't want too. I don't know, homes I'm gonna need to talk to you.

ill still be racing in the championship. I would like to drive the petronas sc430 and i have two other friends that dont have at gtplanet account but i told them about the league and they want to join also and also drive the petronas sc430. if you need more info on them feel free to ask.

My second pick would be a nsx. There psn are ghost305 and antinoob. they are brothers and they will be on the same team so i am open for a teammate but i would prefer if we had the same car.

I kike that idea. A lit of people in this league will have school and the beginning of the year can be a bit much so maybe we could wait?

If you wait until the other three GT500-based events finish, you'll get more sign ups.

Sign me up please homes.

Dont know what car yet, still need to get them. Dont mind what team mate I get

Will we have to continue to use the car we started with, or are we allowed to change from race to race.

No, you have to use the same car for the whole championship. You can buy all of them from the Main dealership (except the Supra which I think is from the online dealership). So you can see all the main specs before you buy. The 3 GTR's have exactly the same specs as the calsonic GTR, so you know what you are getting if you choose one of those.

Bubble - don't worry. You can always miss 2 events and get a stand-in driver for any otehrs you might miss.

Hmph, just noticed that my two strongest tracks, Nürb GP and Fuji are dropped out... :grumpy: Now it's more work to win the title, but if the current season proves anything, consistency is key 👍

Hi IMracer24 - I your PSN account 'agentarenas0'?

Yea, that might be true, but ATM we've been getting lots of non-GTP'ers among us, which makes it easier to get a large entry list.

Yeah, luckily we have quite a few drivers from the 'Same Car Cup' who want to move over to this series, so we might only need about 4 or 5 new drivers.

Looks like I'm not using the Arta NSX... Well, I've got way more than enough money, so even if I have to buy yet a new one, it won't be a problem.

oo yea homes the 580pp is a little weird all of the cars are above 580 especially the gtr's im guessing 605 or 600 with the downforce up.

I don't think this is gonna work out for me. Unless we can work something out Homes, I can't do this season, and I really want to. I hate to be like this but I really wish you could change some things. Its disappointing and I know I sound selfish but if other people can do other days too, why can't we? I thought you were going to switch to Mondays. :-\
