Koenigsegg are so much cooler than Bugatti.

I hope this snatches the speed record.

YSSMAN
Its rated at 987 in the United States, in Europe it gets the 1001HP rating due to their different horsepower ratings and cleaner fuel.
I have read numerous times that the Veyronn produces 1001PS at the wheels which pretty much equates to 987BHP. It has nothing to do with different horsepower ratings, it's a completely different measurement.

I don't see how a limited production manufacturer will beat a massive car manufacturer which had the support of a massive tire manufacturer (Michelin) in trying to overcome one of the biggest obstacles in reaching 250mph.

Amen to that!

Besides, the 'Egg both looks cooler and probably handles better than that red and black, ballonshaped, turbomashed thing.
It's fugly, to say the least.

The Koenigsegg is meant to be hard to handle, the standard CC8 was according to TopGear though a great car, it wasn't that quick on the track either, and the CCR wasn't superb for such a supercar according to FithGear either though they didn't get a good go in it because it broke down.

I have a lot of respect for Koenigsegg, they've done a marvelous job with their cars coming from a nothing company and gaining the respect they have now in such a short space of time, but they can't match the development budget's of a company like VW and all I've heared about the Veyron's handling is praise. IMO the Veyron look's more classy then the Koenigsegg's, they look great, very racey, very in your face. The Veyron is more stylish imo. I love the look's of them both, they just send different messages looks wise.

All that said though, I have little doubt the CCX will be a faster track car than the Veyron, and on a similar note Koenigsegg can't come close to VW's budget, but neither could Pagani to Ferrari's and the Zonda F managed to be a faster track car than the Enzo.

I think an 8 cylinder would have less to go wrong than a 16 cylinder, I mean, there's at least twice as many moving parts.

It was already established a long time ago that the zegger was one of the more unrelaible uber supercars.

Theres more stuff to go wrong with the veyron but alot less likely that the zegger that it will

You can't really prove that.

There aren't any real long-term tests on the Veyron yet to tell what's reliable and what's bad.

I thought the F60 = Enzo? Maybe not...
Let's not get into that discussion again, shall we?
It's becoming as popular as the Ruf discussion, except that this one has a simpler answer.

3000hp? You realize that most big companies use terms and numbers that nobody understands but make you gasp in awe so that you won't care if it's eal or not. I'd have to see an ngine dyno sheet showing 3000 SAE net horsepower to believe that. Maybe running on methanol or alcohol, but not pump gas. He does say "combustion energy" which is a term I've never heard used to describe engine power. I'd guess 1500 max, but I'm probably wrong. I mean, nitro dragsters only make 8000+ horsepower and I'm pretty sure they know how to make it. Of course, prostock dragsters make about 1500 with 500 or so cubic inches (8.2L) and racing gasoline (probably about 120 octane). So never mind my argument, I possibly just proved myself wrong.

No, an engine really only does produce about 30 percent of its potential energy as the rest is all lost as heat. It's stupid to consider it as producing 3000hp, though, because it theoretically can produce that much, but doesn't. If, perhaps, they could create some entirely new internal combustion engine that only lost, say, 40% of its overall power instead of 60-70%, you'd have a breakthrough. All engines lose tons and tons of power as heat and it's stupid to think "My Civic Si makes 600hp, but 70% is lost as heat!" WTF?!

You're right, but I think you misunderstood what they mean. I guess you could say dragsters produce 24000hp, but most is heat energy instead of kinetic energy. But, like I said, that's stupid. :)

Damn! my lexus could have been making at least 700 when it died!:dopey:

Big deal what energy is made as heat, because it's pretty much useless. The heat energy isn't what matters, it's the energy that can actually be used for motion.

I highly doubt that a 3000 hp production car is realistic.

Quite frankly, had no idea that F60 was not the same as the Enzo. Top Gear had refered to the Enzo as the F60 several times, and although it didnt sound right, I took their word for it...

Yeah the media did call it the F60, but th F60 isn't due until Ferrari's 60th year as a company, so we won't see the car until 2007/8.

Hold on, guys. I thought this thread was about the CCX, and not the enzo.

 Turbo with wheels... There was someting in the 60's called the Turbonique Rocket Drag axle, that was basically a huge turbo with a spark plug and a fuel injector connected to an axle. It made about 1500+ hp...

Exactly. Bugatti (I actually think it wasn't them who originated that quote) is taking advantage of people who don't know that with a statement like that.

You really need to be a car enthuasiat to every hear of that info so I would say bugatti is trying to mislead anyone.

Nice, it looks like the others. I still don't think that will accerlerate nearly as fast as the Veyron. It won't beat an F1 to 200 if it gives the F1 a 100mph head start.

So it has new wheels and what appears to be an updated aero package, but what about the engine?

I'm happy to see that its comming to the USA. Can't wait untill the American automotive press gets their hands on it...
