Either way it doesn't seem like it was planned very well. They shouldn't have announced it and made a big song and dance about all the manufacturers if they had zero control over when they would be ready. They should have just announced the concept itself and said to look forward to more in the future.

I can't help but wonder if manufacturers have supplied full 3d models to Polyphony but now for artistic integrity they now need to be remade from scratch by a shokunin.

Unlikely. There is probably rather a problem from the manufacturer side. What it is exactly we don't know. Some might have abandoned the project or might be just taking longer than expected. Either way not the best planning and PD already had to change the 1-year time horizon for the VGTs to an unspecified date on the website.
I wonder what happened to the BMW though that looked almost certain to be released when Jordan hinted to it.

I find it hard to believe it's a problem with the manufacturers when there's so many to choose from. If the BMW had come out in January we'd still be wondering what the delay is for the next one. I'm just struggling for explanations which don't involve delaying the project so that they'll be released week by week in the run up to GT7 launch.

I think if the manufacturers would be delivering and it was just a matter of modelling, PD would tease us with more concept art while they are making the models. Right now the VGTs with some concept art show '1/1' for the pictures so PD did foresee adding more concept art as build up I think. As it looks now PD doesn't have more concept art than currently displayed or have to hold it back because of the manufacturers.

One thing I'm wondering about is the cars under the covers in the Vision GT trailer. The shapes are all different, some cars are really flat, some have tall wheels. Clearly PD knew what cars they are getting and probably already made the models. Or maybe they made rough shapes with rough estimated size?

We don't know who is to blame for the missing VGT cars. It could be the manufacture or PD, or both. But we surely know which company is to blame for promising and - once again - don't deliver. Its, PD
In my opinion, one reason could be that, PD promised that GT6 will sell certain numbers and the manufactures agreed to show them their concept car, if they reach this goal. They didn't reached it and many manufacture didn't bother anymore.

My main hype points for GT6 was VGT, and Photomode, And you all know how much I complain about the one, so... GT6 is near completely useless to me in all honesty.
The Senna update better be amazing and PD better start letting their rather rapidly diminishing fanbase in on some news instead of this 2 month chunk of nothing, or else GT6 will pretty much be a huge failure in the eyes of the fans, if it's not already to most.

By any chance has anyone contacted SRT? I'm curious what their car will be. Concept Viper? Dodge has had the Dart for a few years now, any chance they may turn it over to SRT for a high performance version? Or could it be something from Chrysler or Jeep? The SRT Baracuda had been a rumor for 17 million years... Could it finally be true. I'M SO IMPATIENT FOR THIS CAR. Haha. But seriously PD... pls release more cars soon (preferably the SRT)

Perhaps manufacturers said "the car is ready but you can't release it until the game sells at least 3 mln copies".
Maybe that was the deal and Kaz felt confident about the sales thus it was a matter of releasing the cars - so the "within a year" statement.
Now we're just waiting for that goal to be reached and VGTs will start appearing one after another.

I doubt they'll dangle a treat any sort of available advertising abilities within' such a well known franchise for their brand.
It was a good idea and I was really looking forward to what would come over the following months. It's just typical of PD. They really need to work on their DLC and have more modern cars, their car list seems a bit dated now. I'd be very surprised if we seen another Vision Gran Turismo car.

Apparently SRT is no more, Vipers will be badged as Dodge and there is currently only speculation on what the SRT badged performance models (like the Jeep) will be called.
Speaking of speculation, my theory on the VGTs is that maybe Sony have held them back so that they can be used as advertising for the rumoured port to PS4 in a year or so.
