I really like AVI-8 watches. I had an Olive Green Spitfire one for a bit, but ended up selling it to make some room for some other watches.

I wanted to buy the Flyboy Centenary, but it's a limited edition, and completely sold out. Sad, because it's a stunning watch!

Oh, c'mon!! The top of the dial has a 12 instead of a zero, and it doesn't tell you the day of the week. Not even close!!!

And at $27.99, it's the costliest watch on the Curren web site!!!! Wow! So quality!

So up until about three months ago my watch collection looked like this.

MKT86LX.jpg

It wasn't really a collection. It was a few watches I had picked over the past 15 years and, apart from the Apple Watch, they have been left in drawers or boxes to be forgotten about.

Then I chanced upon some YouTube videos of watch reviews, and in particular reviews of homages to more famous watches made in China. I was intrigued and the more I watched the more I realised that yeah they were cheap but if you chose wisely you could pick up some really nice pieces. One thing led to another and I realised that I was prepared to pay a little more for a decent watch that I really liked. Not sure I'll ever be prepared to pay the amount of money required for a really expensive Swiss Watch but once again with a little bit of research you can find some really nice pieces for reasonable money. So today my collection looks like this.

The recent Ali Express sale added three new watches with two more still to come. My favourite by far is the Bulova Moon Watch, it's stunning in the flesh and has a great back story. Managed to pick it up for £295 which is a bit of a steal from what I could see elsewhere online.

I've been seriously impressed by the Chinese watches, they are well made and look great. All for less than the price of a computer game. In fact in the recent Ali Express sale I picked up the Aquaracer and Daytona homages from Pagani Design for £66 which is astonishing value. One of the watches I'm waiting on delivery for is a Pagani Design homage to the new Omega Seamaster worn by Bond in No Time to Die. There's probably zero chance of me ever owning the Omega so this is as close as I'll get.

Though I'd add a wrist shot of the Bulova as I'm wearing it today.

So I bought my first "big" watch a couple of months ago...

Excuse the poor pictures, but it is a Farer Morgan. I was actually cross-shopping, believe it or not, with an Omega Speedmaster. I've wanted a Speedmaster for years and finally had enough saved to go buy one and the one I tried I really liked, but thought it was just a bit too big, plus I wanted an everyday watch and thought the Omega was just a tad too expensive to wear to work, considering I work in Law Enforcement. I was searching for Pilot watches and came across a brand called Farer, I saw the Morgan (named after Sir Morien Bedford Morgan, who helped design the Concorde, which I think is really cool) and fell in love. It isn't huge, which most men's watches nowadays seem to be (the Morgan has a 39.5mm case) and I absolutely love the dial. At $895 it certainly isn't "cheap" but it is cheap enough that I don't have a problem wearing it every day, even to work. I've actually had really good luck with watches over the past 8 years in Law Enforcement, my G-Shock lasted years until the strap broke (which is easy enough to replace) and my Seiko SNK805 is still perfectly fine as well, only a few scratches which is to be expected after years of daily use.

Like I said, I've had the watch for a couple of months, and I am very impressed. The Swiss Sellita SW200-1 movement has been very accurate, off by less than a minute every two weeks and the watch is very comfortable to wear. I'm not a huge watch guy anyway, but this watch has completely satisfied my desire for a more expensive watch. I love looking at it, love wearing it and am completely satisfied with the purchase. Here is a link to the watch if anyone is interested in more information about it.

Hi,
I bought my first reasonably expensive watch a few weeks ago - a limited edition Hamilton BELOWZERO - as featured in the movie 'Tenet' (Well almost, the digital display isn't on the production watch)

The box it comes in is pretty awesome!

And alongside my other watches, a Trintec Ident Nav-01 and a Torgoen T7B

Hoping to get a U-Boat watch soon...

Very nice collection.

I haven't worn a watch in a long time, but grew up in the 90's with a couple different Timex Ironmans (gimme that sweet sweet indiglo) strapped to my wrist most of the time over those years.

The last watch I really wore was a Bulova back before college. Paging @photonrider since it's also of the Harley Davidson variety . I'm not really into bikes but I worked at a dealership doing detailing and facilities maintenance during high school and then some IT stuff for the owner during college. My dad also worked there part-time as a side gig for a long time and got the watch for me as a Christmas present way back when. I got out of the habit of wearing a watch when I got a cell phone just before leaving for college. The battery has been dead for well over a decade at this point.

I recently decided I wanted to start wearing a watch again and found a couple of pieces I really liked. This first one should be pretty popular around here I think...

A Casio G-SHOCK Gravitymaster GWRB1000-1A1. I think this model came out sometime in early 2019, so it's not the new hotness but I was able to get it new from the Casio outlet website for 40% off. I hadn't really looked at G-SHOCKs in a long time, but I love the way this thing looks compared to anything else I've seen in the lineup over the years. The solar power and usual rugged features are all great and I think it can pass for some slightly more dressy occasions than some of the louder G-SHOCKS . Plus come on.. a carbon monocoque chassis... it's basically a racecar.

I should have some pictures of a nice automatic mechanical I have arriving soon in the next few days as well.

It's pretty similar to a lot of the other throwback pilots watches out there but that blue accent and to me perfect font for the numerals made me fall in love with this thing. Someday I'd love to pick up a nice chronograph just because they are cool but for now the combination of this and the G-Shock seemed like a better use of the money. Daytona pricing has gone stupid, and I could probably talk myself into the price of a Speedmaster (I prefer Omega's style anyway), but I'll probably end up with something more affordable/practical from Fortis or Sinn in a few years.

Nice buy, Fortis are underrated in the watch world and punch above their weight in the quality to price ratio.

Very serviceable-looking Bulova. Certainly something a Bulova collector would pick up. as for the G-Shock. What's life today without a G-Shock stashed away when the going gets tough and the tough gotta get going. On time, that is.

I bought my first mechanical watch a few days ago - a Citizen Automatic, saw it on sale and I decided to take the plunge. I fell in love with this model a few months ago, and told myself I'd get it if I saw it discounted.

I also have a Bulova dress watch and a Seiko chronograph I've worn since high school (which probably explains the scratches ).

I might end up giving the Seiko to my dad (cause he expressed interest in wearing a watch again) if it's a good size for him - then I might get a steel strap for the Citizen and start wearing it as a daily.

Quite a stunning collection . . .but time to watch it?

'Richard Mille is a genius . . . ' ; I'm not going to argue with Stallone. That part about the 'Rambo' of watches . . . a bit of soft-sell?

I cannot help shudder when I look at a watch filled with numerals . . . doesn't matter from what mathematical culture. Indices are my thing - though I can tolerate tiny numbers. This puts me off many a good watch - and is why I like your collection. 🙂

A random snapshot I just took of the watch I currently own the longest, my trusty Nixon Corporal SS (gunmetal/black).
The first watch of my collection, I got it way back in 2017 as a birthday gift. Still rockin'.

20211104_180744.jpg

And since someone just uploaded a picture of his whole collection (which is really nice by the way), I thought I'd do the same.

The second watch that got added to my collection, a Nixon Tangent. Carbon fibre bezel and strap inserts, swiss movement.

DSC01668.jpg

My third Nixon, the 48-20 Chrono. It originally came with a brown leather strap, but I replaced it with this stainless steel one.

Currently deciding on which watch is going to be added next. It's either going to be another Nixon (probably another Corporal model) or something like a Seiko 5 Sports or Orient Mako XL. 👍

Just gotta say, I'm very content with my Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave that my parents got for me while they were on a vacation in the Caribbean. The only thing I don't like about it, is how I find it a hassle to change it to daylight savings time and back, so I just leave it at Eastern Standard Time.

Also, my father has a Bremont Supersonic, but I suppose that's just me bragging. Besides, he'd much rather wear his Breitling Transocean - I've never seen him wear his Supersonic just yet.

What's funny is how much I've learned about watches through Gran Turismo. Not just the obvious TAG-Heuer partnership in GTS, but also how I recognized a model of the Bentley Speed 8 sitting in a Breitling shop, or how Citizen has also sponsored motorsports. Then there's Rolex's signage at the Circuit de la Sarthe, or their title sponsorship of the Daytona 24h. We can't forget how Seiko was the timekeeper for older GT games, too.

I don't see myself as owning more than one watch, but if I did, maybe I'd get a Timex, if only because that brand is based in my state.
