It hit 28°C in Glasgow today, after weeks of fairly miserable weather - that's got to be some kind of record for September in Scotland. It has hit 31°C/88°F here today. Totally unexpected, especially after I moved my WFH desk back upstairs where it gets stupidly hot as soon as the sun comes out.
Could be worse - anywhere with a north facing coastline is getting blown off the map.My Mum is phobic of the wind and unfortunately it looks like her part of the world will get a direct hit later tonight...
And less than a week later I'm sitting here with the air con cranked up. Supposed to cool off again though during the week with some rain.Cold. Forecast for today claimed we'd reach 22°C. Which obviously for this time of year down here, is unusually cold anyway. But it feels even cooler than that with the wind. Never imagined I would be wearing a hoodie in late November. What a time to be alive.
Do you still feel the humidity even now with temperatures lower? Dry heat would have been much more bearable. There is also the risk of climate change. It's quite impressive what has been managed to be done in a short space of time, hopefully not a double whammy of cooling the place is causing it to heat up more quickly to unbearable levels. At least public transport should get much better by the end of the decade. It is warm, walking outside is near impossible but there are people who don’t have a choice unfortunately. These are the moments where you realize that this area really isn’t suitable for humans to live.
