There better be more Group B cars

For someone of your experience on the forums, this is ridiculous.

^Even more so the irony of what you said there... :dunce:

MG Metro 6R4 and Citroen BX4TC please. Oh and a premium Starion ;)

Don't forget that Opel Manta 400! There really aren't many Group B cars missing from the game, the top cars are already represented.

Oh yes  . But only if PD get engine sounds right. :irked:

I don't follow your meaning.

90 posts against OP's 270 and you call someone ridiculous for "there experience?" when you have nearly none. Just saying :)

He propably means to say that someone with 270 posts should know that there are already a dozen threads like this, for example:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=260292

Thus, this thread is no different than any other wishlist out there, and it's the same useless ''I want that car'' thing that everybody is posting out there, so I don't see any irony in that.

I have nearly none, and yet I know that this is an ill-advised thread.

Exactly.

I am a pretty well known tuner for GT5 :) Sometimes forum etiquette goes out the window, because those "I want" threads get so convoluted and I just want to vent. I have been absent from the tuning scene and GT in general for about a year now because I am tired of the direction PD took it in. So I agree this thread should not exist but I made it non the less, because It sickens me to see how they completly disregard a large portion of automotive history just to include more Japanese cars that we have little desire to see and had little impact on the automotive world as a whole, meanwhile neglecting to make premium versions of DTM and Group B cars. In fact in GT5 the only premium car available to race in DTM is a Japanese car that never really competed in DTM.

When were you elected to speak on behalf of the entire Gran Turismo community? I must have missed that meeting.
And which exactly are those Japanese cars you're talking about, that they chose to make instead of DTM or Group B cars?

I'm sure the mods will appreciate the 'I know the rules but I feel they don't apply to me and my wants' attitude you took there.

I've always liked the wishlist threads where the OP was written in a way that sounds like when/if he doesn't get what he's asking for, he's going to break Kaz's legs.

LOL.

Anyway, I'd want an improvement with rally cars only if they actually improve the rally section. Seeing rally cars appear on a purpose built tarmac racing circuit just looks silly.

One improvement would be simply rallying against 16 ghost cars that start at the same position and time as the player. Sure beats waiting 40 seconds(!!!) just to get to the start line. A simple solution, and it just baffles me how ill-thought-through some of the GT5 features are, considering how many years they had to get it right.

A proper rallycross feature should also be implemented - Cathedral Rocks would make a decent rallycross track if the player had to race against 4-6 opponents. The rally circuits on GT5 are too narrow for actual circuit racing, and a good rallycross track isn't so dusty that a driver following another car cannot see where they're going.

Well, they are missing if you don't use the Standard cars, and I think that's what the OP meant (perhaps prematurely as we don't know whether there'll be more).
Having only the Quattro as Premium and the rest Standard, means the Quattro is basically my only option (could've been a worse option though ;)) and I hope the 205 Turbo 16, Delta S4 and RS200 will be made Premium as well (as those 3 and the Quattro means having the most iconic Group B cars, and therefor Group B as a relevant aspect for all, sorted).
Whether that's likely I don't know, we got 4 modern Premium rallycars in GT5 (and that Celica) so 4 Group B cars seems reasonable, keeping in mind that perhaps some other rallycars (most likely the Subaru/Mitsubishi dominated era) might be added as well (also not available as Premium).
And I'm still hoping for a rally version of the Alpine A110 as well but I'm not holding my breath.

Thing is, creating a thread specifically to discuss Group B cars and rallying wouldn't have been an issue at all, especially with the recent addition of that Quattro (and that Andalucia map) it could actually be relevant and significant.
It's casually mentioning the Veyron SS as well (which last time I checked wasn't eligible for Group B nor existed in the eighties) which kind of ruins the whole purpose (nevermind the tone set to discuss it properly and decently) and makes that instead of going into depth about Group B in GT6 and all its aspects, it just becomes something that should just be a single post in a wishlist.

So if you're indeed serious about discussing Group B in GT6, I'd suggest you edit the first post (and remove the Veyron bit) although I doubt that's the reason you created this (otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned something completely out of context like the Veyron in the first place).

As for the Japanese bit, I wouldn't mind having a Japanese Group B car that didn't enter Group B either, looks like fun to me.

I'd argue that if they are going to add more Group B rally cars they need to spent a lot more time on rally courses. Yes rally cars race on tarmac as well but not circuit races as they're often stupidly depicted on GT5.

Understandable, but on the other hand threads like these make the entire forum overview convoluted, which is hardly an improvement.

Agreed, although a better course maker function with more possibilities (point to point, different themes) and things like that Andalucia map (maybe there are even a few more like that) already more or less ensure it'll be more interesting than GT5.
I'd bet that if more rallycars and track are added, it'll also be more significantly implemented in A-Spec (it surely can't be worse ;)) and hopefully they can also add an online rally aspect (actual time trials) instead it basically only being rallycross right now.

Indeed, some track generator locations that can generate realistic P2P stages would be great, unlimited stages then. However realistic is the key word, I don't want to see those wide, strange tracks that GT5 featured with invisible barriers 1cm from the road edge.

PD always uses the widest option on all their 'home made' course creator tracks in GT5, whether it's the dirt tracks in those rally challenges or the tarmac tracks in the Seasonals for some reason (to make it easier no doubt).
But especially in rallying, having a very narrow track is part of the core appeal, now it's more rally raid.
I would love a 'forest' course creator theme (including rain/snow and day/night option), perhaps one map consisting of trees only (and elevation changes) whereby you can define a path by essentially removing some, don't know if that's even possible with how their course creator functions though (seems scenery and where to place tracks are separate in that scenery is predefined).

Expecting it or even having hopes, or even thinking about it is pointless. PD is as unpredictable as a developer can get.

The 222D isn't a Group B car, it's Group S.
