This game isn't worth 40.00 or 30.00 bucks.

I am surprised how many people got this game at $40.00. It is literally probably 10 % (maybe) of what the full game will offer, yet you paid for more than half of what GT5 will cost. Doesn't add up. Even at its 30 dollar price, it's way too high. Again, Prologue doesn't have even close to 50% of what GT5 will possess, yet people paid for half of what GT5 will cost. The math just isn't there. I got it for 10.79 and I feel that's a bit more reasonable. I don't feel cheated and I applaud those who struck gold at Target, too. *phew*. I had to rant. At least those that paid extra helped out the GT series! Thank you, guys!👍 Who agrees? And who is going with the "well I am a die hard fan and will pay anything for a GT game!!"?

Really? Because I've gotten far more use out of this game than any other full game I've bought on PS3 yet. By that logic it's probably worth $500, but of course we don't pay that.

Just goes to show how good value the full game will be then. ;)

Maybe I've just lost interest in it quickly! But yea, the full game should be a very time-consuming game. GT is always known for that, along with GTA.

It still has close to equal content to many other racing games... with far better quality, i.e. graphics, physics, etc.

Well, going by your logic, every single racing game other than GT5 (which isn't even out yet) is a complete ripoff money wise, as Prologue has roughly the same amount or even more cars than most other games, yet you still think that even 30$ is too much? Well, I suppose that you will never buy NFS, Colin Mcrae DiRT or any other racing game for that matter, since nothing surpasses GT5P, not even talking about GT5, in terms of the amount of cars.

Theres your problem right there.

Your maths forgot to add in the variable for the "Satisfaction" multiplyer. Thats why your maths doesnt add up. Put that in and it should fix it up for you.

Sorry but IMHO ,if your calculating Number of cars (x) by number of tracks (y) over Cost (s) to derive ROI (z) then you are looking at the game all wrong.

GT5P doesnt have 200 cars (10% of 2000), Is there an update I missed out on? :P

Yes there is, but it's not a GT5:P one. There's one that doesn't prompt you, system update 2.80, which allows longer chat messages.

So you expect GT5 to have 2000 cars then?

Are you berating us for choosing GT5:P over GT5?

Of course not 2000 cars, but in terms of racing content, a shoddy and sometimes boring online mode, then yes, less than 10% of GT5. I mean, really, buying this game for 40 or 30 just seems a bit silly. Silly as in you got hyped into buying it or you got tons of money to spend. Berating you? Not even close. I'm too classy for that:).

$40 for gt5p was the best $40 i've ever spent.....preparation for the full gt5 game is priceless

I think I played GT5P more than 300 hours. GT5 is the game I bought a ps3 for, even a "demo" is good to take.

I've been used to race sims with pads (all GT + LFS). But I had my first wheel with GT5P when it released in Japan (december 2007) ; a Logitech G25. I thought I have to buy the game as soon as possible to reach the level I had when I was playing with pads and get better.

GT5P was also supposed to be the game that looks the best on PS3, the game that shows what a ps3 can do. After spending more than 3k for a HD TV then 600$ for a PS3, I think that spending 40$ just to see what all this hardware is capable of, is not a matter.

Lots of people bought a ps3 on day one just for GT5. Letting their 600$ console getting dust waiting for gt5... they can at least buy prologue to use it.

Personnaly, I bought a ps3 only two months ago (killzone pack). I bought GT5P japanese version back in december '07 then european version in march '08. I used to play on a ps3 I borrowed from my best friend (he bought it only for Final Fantasy). That same friend offered me the g25 wheel (because automotive is a passion for me).

I may be a die hard fan, but if GT5 is priced at 120$ or if a prologue 2 get out, I will be very angry against PD but I will buy them for sure. This put aside, I don't mind if GT5 release in march 2010 but I have very high expectations for this game (I may be a little disappointed when it comes out...) since the latter it will get out, the better it will be.

Dirt 2, NFS Shift, rfactor 2 and maybe Forza 3, will help me waiting till the release date.

I got this game because this "1/10th of this game" not only is bigger than a fair few other full priced racing games, it also lasted longer.

Sure maybe $40 isn't worth it compared to what the full GT5 will offer. But it is worth it compared to what many other games offer.

Hyped into buying it? Or perhaps we can be satisfied with far less? I've played Prologue more than any other game on my PS3, more than even some games I've played for PS2, PC, etc. I keep coming back to it quite often, despite its small track list. I don't consider the car list small at all, its actually a decent size compared to most full games.
Also, this game was always marketed as "Prologue", hence suggesting it isn't a full game and shouldn't be considered as such. For what it is, how much fun it provides and to fill in the gap waiting for GT5, it is well worth the price.

I just love racing sims. Live for Speed has only 20ish cars and something like 7 tracks (with a handful of layouts for each one). Its worth every penny and I've spent, probably a couple hundred hours on it, and am still far from mastering every car and track layout.

I love many games on PS3 but GT5P I have probably played twice as much as any other game. Value wise it certainly justifies he 20 quid I spent on the EU version and the other 30 I spent on the Japanese one when it launched!

The opening poster is correct. The game isn't worth $30-40.

To him.

i'd have payed nearly any amount for one car and one track, as long as i could race all of you guys on the interwebs whenever i want to.

I disagree. There are NO OTHER GAMES i've played out there that I still play heavily after 1 year of usage.

Then I will buy GT5, which I will get years for usage out of. Worth it. Yes.

I like the game so much, that i also have the PAL Prolouge! Do i think they are worth it, yes i do!I get to race my PAL friends anytime i want!! And the main reason i bought GT5P, was for online racing! Well worth the money!!!

What my friend said!

I doubt those who can't find value in Prologue will find it in GT5. If racing doesn't captivate your interest now, what about the full game will? I assure you painting and modifying cars is no major selling point for true fans of the series, and fans of racing in general.

I've constantly been in competition in one form or another, and racing in a league, or having TT competitions is one sure way to extend the enjoyment of the game.

It's racing... the car and the track are merely the brush and the canvas. They matter little. What I measure the value of prologue on is the time I've spent playing it, and I have been avidly racing since the North American launch. In a one year span, I have never played a GT game as much as I have Prologue. Why? Because racing against real live humans turns the fun factor to 11. Everything else is peripheral. What good are private rooms, if you have no racing friends? What good are dozens of tracks when your driving skills are lagging behind and the majority of people are leaving you in the dust? What good are all the tuner parts in the world, if you can't setup a car worth beans?

Could Prologue be improved by adding more features and fuctions? sure, but then it wouldn't be much of a 'Prologue' anymore, and we would have another not quite finished/ rushed out product. The full game will come when ever it comes, because that's how long it takes to make it. In the mean time, thousands of people are still enjoying Prologue because they can race, online with real people, 24 hrs a day, in HD, with some of the worlds most recognizable cars. How many games can say that right now.

I've spent my money on some overhyped garbage games, and Prologue ain't one of them. Since when does the quality of the game determine the price anyways (time spent sitting on the shelf is the only thing that brings a game price down) I paid the same price for MGS4, MLB The Show, Oblivion and GTA (good games, worth the money) as I did for HAWX, Assassin's Creed, Motorstorm and Socom Confrontation (not worth the money). Prologue has destroyed them all for play time, and it came in 30% cheaper! That's Value!

Also, did you really expect to find support for your opinion at a GT fan site?

Aww shucks.:embarrassed: Certainly online racing with such great realism has been the best thing that ever happened to me.:dopey:

As Paulie said in post #2, we all have got a ridiculous amount of use out of this game. I have played GT5P way too much, probably well over 5000 hours in total, actually possibly 10000+hours. Starting to get to the "get a life" stage I know. But to be honest, I would've payed $100AUD for this game. I knew I was going to love it.

And to reply to Paulie's post, GT5P is the first time I've ever raced online and to be honest the online system is shocking compared to rFactor. In GT5P obviously no private rooms, qualifying etc. But on rFactor there is also virtually no lag against who ever you race which is fantastic. I'm hoping GT5's online system will be something similiar to rFactor's. But racing online on GT5P is certainly very enjoyable.👍
