What the hell is going on here, french teams have great cars but they also have french drivers only.
the only reason Peugeot took burns is because of the number one that he have, and gronholm is because he gave them drivers and constucture's championship in 2000, and the later one this year.

Look at Citeroen, they had Jesus Puras who is a spaniard and a great driver, but they dumbed him for a frenchman Sibastien Loeb, he is good and all, but after the contreversy in monaco i think he will have a lot of enemys. You know this is not Formula1, you **** UP you will have drivers giving it to you face.

I nominate the Schumi of rallying( eventhough rallying is more exiting than Formula1) Tommi Makinnen for this year's driver's championship, but my money stays on the living greatest of all time, the one the only whom who needs no further introduction,
EL-MATADOR CARLOS SAINZ ( THE REAL KING OF SPAIN ).

And guys is Speedvision really covering the rally during it's runing for three days !!!
LONG LIVE RALLYING

RallyF1, I'm not sure you're what you're trying to say with this one. Firstly, the Peugeot and Citroen teams are, like all French teams, very proud of their French-ness, and will try to pick home talent wherever possible. Is this an issue? I don't think so if the drivers can prove they're up to the challenge.

For example, Sebastian Loeb is undoubtedly a very good driver. He is Super1600 World Champion and French Rally Champion right now, after all. And he has won a round of the World Rally Championship on the road (even though subsequently disqualified for an offence which would not have netted him a competitive advantage). So why the problem with him being French and driving for a French team?

And on to Peugeot, who have Richard (2001 World Champion, British) Burns, Marcus (2000 World Champion, Finnish), Harri (up-and-coming Finn) Rovanpera, and Gilles (fastest man in the world on twisty tarmac, French) Panizzi. This is one Frenchman out of four drivers. And he's only getting, what, 6 rounds this year?

Why do you not criticise the British teams (Ford, Prodrive-Subaru and Ralliart-Mitsubishi) for picking Brits (both McRaes and Burns)?

I agree with you that Carlos Sainz is very good, and he's a wonderful team guy, because he's so consistent. He's in my Fantasy Rally team. But I think he lacks the out-and-out pace of some of the others out there, and for that reason I don't think he's going to be World Champion again.

We'll chat more through the season, I guarantee!

alles les blue
i guess that's what you are, a frenchman!
it is evident from you'r name gilles like gilles panizi.
but anyway, ihave nothing against french people, i am a great fan of jean alesi, my grandama is french.
but i guess because the last time i was in france my brfiefcase was stolen in charles degaul airport, maybe that is why i am holding a grudge, but a small one.
other than that they are great teams, who achieve success when they are determined!!

LONG LIVE RALLYING.

Of course teams are going to pick home drivers. Although it is a sport, manufacturers are only competing for tv space and column inches in there home market and the best way to do that is to have the same nationality driver.

So what is the big deal? They can hire who ever they choose to race their cars. Also consider this, most of the french automanufacturers are owned by the French government and have to comply with them. If the French government mandates a certain amount of support for French drivers then so be it. if they want a poodle to be in every car then that is their prerogative.

Oh ok, well here at GTP we have many rally fans :).

Pug: Panizzi
Citroen: Loeb

Both are fantastic drivers, and one is world acclaimed on tarmac, and the other will surely follow in his footsteps.

The French manufacturers are baised towards French drivers, but that is only natural. France is a very large market for Peugeot and Citroen. Also drivers like Loeb, Panizzi and Delecour and Bugalski had plenty of history with the manufacturers prior to the WRC in the French Rally Championship, and it's only natural they'd be considered for the WRC teams.

The WRC is success orientated and Loeb and Panizzi deserve their drives on merit as two of the best drivers around.
