What's up guys new member here.
I've been a long time GT/racing fan ever since i stumbled upon my cousin's GT1 CD case laying around.
After skipping over to GT4 i got into Forza 4 & 6 playing on my roommate's Xboxes. Overall the franchise had a fun online ambience, cars sounded great and the customization options were cool. However over time i've noticed a massive influx of dirty racers with T10's latest installments. If you've played forza 6, you know how FLAWED the vote to kick system is. I won't go deep into it but there is 0 merit for trying to keep a clean race lol. Secondly the lootbox thing was a no go for me. Lastly they never got the a lot vehicle dynamics right: DCT cars shifting like manuals, banging the rev limiter on every upshift when using man+clutch, and generic default AWD differential settings for the most part. The last issues are minor but they just killed the immersion for me.
Fast forward to now, i have GTSport hooked up to a very decent Altec Lansing 5.1 surround sound speakers system. The game fixes a lot of the issues i had with Forza. In terms of the driving itself, overall i'm impressed. The first time i fired up the game i quickly learned that i had to stop the bad habits that i learned from Forza.... Such as jamming the throttle out of a corner of the top of my head lol. The first car i got into was a BMW M4 with all aids but ABS off (i don't think i even attempted the driving school). I spun out on the very first corner and laughed. I saw what people meant when reviewing the game saying that the tires give you almost no warning that they are going to step out. This makes it challenging to catch slides out of a corner. I would say Forza's tire model has a slight edge in that department. To top that off, i also feel like GTSport's throttle is not properly calibrated to the R2 button. For example using an 80% range of R2 actually results in 100% throttle in game. Next thing you know your car is facing the other way.
Overall it's a fun game, i love how unique each car feels and look forward to the free DLC content.
Now onto the questions:
Does anybody know what's up with the PP system particularly? I mean i've played a little bit of GT6 and i know that the weight of the car played a role with a cars performance placement. With GTsport all you do is match the horsepower to the PP class you're trying to put it in. All this means is that in classes like N300, all you see are Alfa Romeo 4c and Toyota SF-R concept crushing hoppers because they weigh nothing. Balance is something that's been beaten to death, i feel for all those Gr4 Megane posts lol.
Lastly does everybody only like using Racing Super Soft tires? granted that i haven't had a lot of play time because of work/ school finals but every time i hop in someone's populated lobby, everyone just sticks them on unless tire wear is on. It just seems too convenient/easy especially on road cars
