Ok folks, I said if confirmed alien @A_Higher_Place can do it, I can do it… well. What a session I had, I absolutely love this car! My PB kept inching forward and in the end my last fastest laps were both average laps just with blistering PB sectors, the first with a rapid sector 3 and then the final and fastest with a blistering sector 2; if I could hook it all together I was good for a 2:17.2 but I don’t think there are enough hours left in the universe to achieve that.. still, very happy with my time despite not hitting goal of a sub .5 :D

Might have to revisit this one more time but feels like you have to be properly ‘on it’ to get into those upper echelons. Just a smidge behind resident alien @djolliea but that’s nothing new!

Pleased with that one nonetheless, and what a car, I’m in love.
I'm gonna regret friending you, aren't I?. Lightning lap, mate. I cannot compete with that!

Y’all are fast! Seriously.

Second stint at RA. Wish I had more time this morning but have plenty of time left in this TT to improve.

Noticed I lost gold from first day (unsurprisingly of course) but made solid improvement and safely in gold! On track now with both current TT’s in gold to surpass more golds than silver overall! I think currently it’s 38 or 48 gold 39 or 49 silver (and like 13 bronze
From my early days before this thread). Will be 1-up on silver when RA one ends!

First day:

Today: nice 0.672 improvement!

The next one is a gr3 car at Daytona.
Ugh, I bet it's the Daytona Road Course. I don't like the bus stop and Sector 3, it is a time and lap killer. I may end up having to set the ABS back to weak. Is there a main difference from the weak and default setting? PD needs to let us choose from a wider variety of Gr. 3 cars this time instead of three specific cars. It would be more fun and not boring.

Regarding the ABS stuff, I started at 1:33:6 with ABS weak and improved all the way down to 33:0 with ABS default.

I was wondering myself if it was a placebo or not. But the whole S1 indeed felt different when I changed it. My best S1 was a 35:4 which sadly I never converted into a good lap.

My take on the ABS - I'm not good enough to know when its the setting or my driving making the difference lol.

While on the subject of braking - more recently I've noticed when I brake 85%-95% vs full 100% and trail-brake (well attempting to) I tend to stop shorter (faster?) when not fully on the brake. Am I just imaging this?

I'm wondering if this may refrased in braking/trailbraking better when the red portion of the brake pedal % shown in the hud is smaller

Do you know that you can reset the ghost at every sector? This way it can help until the end of the lap. By the way, thank you all for sharing your laps! 👍
Yes, I know and I set the ghost like that... but it’s not enough 😂

I choose a gap of +0.3. Even the ghost behaves strangely in the first round.

I get to be in front of La Source and the Raidillon.
But I’m wasting too much time between Malmedy and Pouhon in sector 2.
Finally, I drove like a coward to Stavelot and Blanchimont... the fear of invalidation 😅

I will try again because the combo is really good.

.18 may be doable…

What does the red in the brake bar mean? I don't pay particularly close to it when braking because too focused on my driving line?

I have concluded that I am just c**p!
LOL what are the two ** out letters!?! This gotta be some Brit slang I'm not aware of

@Gomario JSP wish granted….

I made no improvement at Spa, that one is tough to get every last second out of!

Plenty of time on the table at Road Atlanta though, when you get in a rhythm this one is properly fun, just like when we had the mx5 race car here (why do I feel like I have Deja vu when I say this :odd:)

Sector two wasn’t great but when it all comes together in sector one it’s a lot of fun

Into the 1:31 club and I think there’s another two tenths to come here :D

I also usually don't look there because it's off focus. I started to notice in the downhill braking at red bull ring.
I think the overall bar represent how much you press the pedal (0-100), and the bigger the red part the more abs is working due to adherence inefficiency and/or straight brake vs brake and cornering.

At reb bull i noticed that braking with wheels on the curb was less efficient and noticed a bigger portion of the red bar compared to the same braking area but with all 4 wheels inside the curb.

In another occasion i noticed i was slightly giving a small angle to the steering whell even though my mind was thinking to be full straight, because i noticed some big red portion of the bar. I forced mysefl to ensure a straight wheel and the red piece reduced a lot.

Take all this with a big maybe. I am really not sure about it, it's just something that i want to investigate better

I realy don't approve this laptime..... , thought we were friends....
🤣🤣

Yes!! Got a new record at Spa this afternoon, 2'24.925. I might be able to reach silver, but we'll see how much extra time I have. Life is hard nowadays.

@Saargasm I was thinking R and O were the two words that he left out of that word.

@Dan_Tes Sector 2 is not a walk in the park for me, sometimes I'll get dizzy by moving left-right through the turns/corners. Great time man, how did you make that livery? Lol, let's hope the new TT takes place at the Oval this time, but I don't think PD will make it that easy for us. I'm 99.9% sure it will take place at the Daytona Road Course. Like Lomic said, going through Eau Rouge is like playing Russian Roulette. I either get it right or I cut through the curb and void the lap. And those dang-blasted bollards!! And sausage curbs. Drives me bananas.

While everyone is busy at RA (keep going, no need to lower gold threshold at Spa anymore, thanks), I did my 4th 10 laps stint at Spa with the NSX.

Was not waranted as we had an internet (and mobile) blackout from noon to 8:30PM. Hesitated to train on the morning, I should have...

With some improvements : I succeeded taking Eau-Rouge flat out! (and succeeded getting red laps too trying to do so) at least 2 times on 10 laps. And I find a better way to exit Stavelot (not on the same laps where I did a good Eau-Rouge, obviously).

Best lap time went down a bit (-0.163s), but I'd need 0.8 at least to get gold.

Medium is down too (-0.562s), and optimal also (-0.212s). So clearly needing more consistency.

S1 : -0.5s (thanks Eau-Rouge flat)
S2 and S3 : no improvement

Overall optimal well into gold zone...

"Only" 3 red laps (got them in Eau-Rouge and nowhere else this time).

First lap was bad, last lap was very bad, so medium suffered and could be better. Only 22s and 21s except those 2 bad laps.

Will try to do 2 stints tomorrow, but due to the internet blackout I'll have to rush on work so not much time to play.

Speaking about muscle memory: after my big improvement at Spa yesterday I started directly in 2:20 again today. There was the one lap that would have meant further improvement with at least 2:20:3xx but I went (very) wide in Blanchimont and threw it away. There were some good sectors again but no complete laps.

If I should find some seat time tomorrow I will return to Spa again... The Focus isn't my cup of tea and that gold won't stay till the end.

Imagine trying to do this Spa challenge at night in the pitch dark. Would drive me baddy. Another mini improvement: 2'224.890. I saw Dan's replay. I knew he kept his speed at 250mph through Eau Rouge, while the highest I got to was 242mph. The way he took T1 was way different than mine, it was smoother.

His livery is tough like nails. He can scare his competitors away with that design. Spa is a workfest to get every part of the track right.

They stand for "words you think are censorable ought to be fully censored so as to actually censor them, and should they be words that actually do need censoring then doing this partial-censor malarky will earn you an intervention from the moderation staff as it bypasses the filter we have in place for this precise reason".

Makes you think. Us crazy Brits and our wacky colloquialisms!

Would drive me baddy.
Like... you'd become a super-villain? What?

At Spa. 242mph through Eau Rouge. At Spa.

Are you playing the Vettel X Challenge in GT5 by mistake?

@Gomario JSP, can I please borrow your sector 1 time? Even if it's one of those you claim is "slow?" Seriously, my best was a few mid-high .2's through there. So of course on my fast lap, I would mess up turn 1 so badly I would smoke my tires and run a tenth slower. :ouch:
IMG_3991.jpg

And I forgot to post my time and lap from Sunday at Spa. Hard to believe I've dropped into the 800's globally there. It didn't feel THAT bad, but everyone seems to be a pro in Gr.3's, whichever they may be. I'll give it one last go tomorrow.
