Happy Saturday everyone, I'm getting ready to tackle more Road Atlanta with my F. Focus car. I hope I can make it in the 1'35.000 club today/tonight. I don't like the left turn near the blue/yellow line. I'll show a picture of which area I'm talking about. I hate it, I always veer to the right and touch the blue/yellow barrier which ruins my lap.

You can eat the whole world of curb there without invalidate your lap Chris, the thing you have to worry about is only the first part, it's all about the angle, beneath same lap just a few frames later, just don't abuse the first part and you can get away with a huge amount of off tarmac

After a full conference week abroad, around Balkans, back to city of Volvo. Lufthansa managed to lose all luggage and I am wondering now what to do.
I missed you ninjas but there was literally no time for this thread at all.
Managed first session on Daytona with Viper, ok time for now. Super touchy to get early on throttle when my Gyro is tilted more than it should.
Edit* Lufthansa found everything and delivered to me

Well I need to work on that angle of mine then, because I've gotten red laps 5 times in a row. I'm fixing to watch someone's Youtube guide that uses automatic gears. His name is SirDave1988.

First day back with the new zipper in place. It looks like one and done, as SWMBO* says I over-extended myself and her grace during the recovery period. So it is what it is. I'll take a few days off before trying Daytona.

Welcome back to the Time Trial club, you'll struggle at Road Atlanta; the Focus car is not cooperating with me today for some reason. Maybe I'm just tired, idk.

This has been a week of ups and down when it came to Time Trials. Glad to see the return of modern Gr.3’s and this was actually the first time I drove those on Daytona since the huge physics update last year.

I couldn’t get the Ford GT to work but the Viper seems right up my alley. Too 100 for now but I am sure it won’t last

Then of course I can’t pass up the chance of trying out my McLaren in this TT as well, knowing full well that it will be way off pace. I do think 1:44 is possible in the McLaren as well but probably not worth the time…

Also went back to Road Atlanta after taking in you guys suggestion on Sector 1. Good news is I can now consistently manage 35.1-.2’s in Sector 1. Bad news is I could never get Sector 2 right since that initial lap, not once in 400 miles I did. Maybe more mile may help…

Your exit on the busstop is epic mate, I'm split 23.7 out of the busstop what becomes a 44.980 and you are 23.5 ending in a 44.5 🙄😱🤣🤣

Nice lap!

No...all these are too advance for you at the moment. What you need is simply learn how to drive. Because right now if I tell you to hit the brakes at the 100m board, you will hit the brakes 10 meters ahead of the board this lap. Then 10 meters pass the board on the next lap. Then at 105...let go the brake pedal and hit it again at 95....etc. And on the off chance you actually hit the brakes at 100, you somehow place the car on the inside line 😆

or just simply hit the 100m board with the car 🤪

It's still weird though how some of the top 100-200 drivers has a blue icon next to their time showing their replay, while me and most of my friends shows no icon next to their times, meaning I can't view mine or their replays from that point of view.
A replay is only added automatically if the time is in the top 10 at the moment it is driven. Therefore you sometimes find players who are way down the global leaderboard (say about 200th) but still show the blue icon. Those were super early and then steadily dropped down the leaderboard.

You and your friends can share your replays in your space or collection or what it's called. Some here Tag their replays with gtp. That makes them somewhat easy to find. But they won't be readily available in the leaderboard.
I have fond memories of when we last visited Daytona in the 911 back in November 2023. I had not yet switched to MT (partly because I still had my used G29 with half-broken paddles), somehow made it into the top 1000 for the very first time, and I distinctly remember that I felt like I was punching way above my weight.

Fast-forward a year, and I still kind of feel that way everytime I activate steery cheat mode 😄, but there‘s no denying that, thanks almost exclusively to this great community, I am in a very different place than a year ago. You guys are the best.
:gtpflag:

And Daytona is again nice to me it seems. Obviously it‘s only the first day and most folks are still on their warm-up laps, but for now at least I‘m the only one on my friends list below 1:45. Waiting for you here 😜

I lazily used what appeared to be the Meta at the time (the Genesis), but tables have turned and now there are two Vipers at the top. Will try that as well.

Happy lapping!

Up until a few weeks ago I had not looked into the thread for about 9 months or so. I was super surprised to see you getting close to alien level that quickly. Back then I remember you sometimes struggling to get gold. Great development mate. (You had been in friends list ever since but I somehow missed your progression on the leaderboard.)
Are you using the face buttons? (X and square) or are you using a different configuration setting? I've never used a Logitech before and never will, I'd have a better chance improving using a ps5 controller than a standard wheel with setup. You are right, everyone on here can adapt and take action in getting very low scores/times. But we have to work for it, it won't fall in our lap.
Chris, if you are using the face buttons on PS5 then please switch to the triggers. They are the best piece of game pad equipment I have ever used. If you're on a ps4 then you may try the right analog stick for throttle and break. Everything is better than the buttons.

No, I've been using the ps5 for a month and three days now. I like the controller batter than the ps4. Thanks for explaining that about the replays, now I get a gist of how the process works.

Hey fellow racers, hope y'all doing good!

Here's my medal count for this week, starting with that epic race track from Belgium:
Gran Turismo™ 7_20250117144835.jpg

Not much to brag about here, but still I'm proud of what I've accomplished.
Them aliens always go nuts with Time Trials like this, with race cars... which makes things a lot harder for the casual racer.

Of course, the track itself isn't the easiest of the lot and should I say it's not very "forgiving" either, there are quite a few moments were you simply have to go big or go home, if you want to post a fast time.

Driving at Spa is a constant exercise of bravery, or at least that's the way I look at it.
Gotta love those bollards...

Might not be my favorite type of TT, but still it's always a great chance to test myself and improve a bit more 👍

I'm definitely a sucker for Time Trials with road cars, so I'm glad to have this challenge at Road Atlanta:
Gran Turismo™ 7_20250117144953.jpg

In the Gold zone, for now...
I didn't have any time this week to try this again, hopefully I'll get back in the weekend and the coming week, because I really don't want to be sweating all over again on Wednesday night, hoping and praying for my time to stick (just like it did with the NSX at Tsukuba by 0.012)!

Really want to go into the 33s but I might be a bit "rusty" by now, with no time to practice this week, so it might take some time to find the "groove" (or should I say "focus") again.

New test today in Daytona :
I wanted first of all @crome for his advice which helped me a lot.:bowdown:
Thanks to all this I was finally able to improve my time to 1'45'824 with TC at 2 and CSA at strong. Thank you very much my friend.
I still have progress to make, particularly on the Bus sequence and the first turn.
With this Viper it's really a superb combo but frankly it's really laborious this TT. I will see that tomorrow

I felt uncomfortable with my thin gold at Ra. Now it's way better.

Tomorrow will focus on Daytona, not really sure yet what car i will use.

What is that steering cheat mode that is popping here and there?
I don't like cheating when others do it and i don't 😜

Decided to hop in the meta today. This car is way more fun to drive than the Genesis. I still need to get used to how sticky it wants to be on corner exit - haven't found full confidence yet.

Its not safe for top 100 but it's within a second of the fastest time which is my goal 👍🏻.

Happy lappin' folks!

Fast time y’all!

Off-topic: I randomly decided to play that free monthly game - The Stanley Parable - what a unique and interesting game. Give it an hour it’s worth it.

Signed on after putting kiddos to bed and cleaned kitchen - but I was wayyyy too stoned and signed off after two horrific laps at Daytona 😂

Hopped on the Daytona train yesterday... For some reason I wanted to try the Toyota VGT gr.3
Boy what a mistake. No top speed, no acceleration to speak of... Best time was a 1.50.6xx 😅
Decided to follow Tidgey and tried the Ford GT. Only did 5 Laps but was within gold (at the time) with a 1.46.9xx
Should be able to go down to 1.46.5 next week 👌

Quite happy with that. 100th on the dot at the time of setting (probably already long outdated!)

I tried an absolute ton of cars here. Fastest I got was with the GT at 45.2 - switching to the Viper net me a 44.9 on its first lap and that dropped to a 44.6 the next time I played.

Unbelievably quick around the oval and impressively stable for what it is.
