Facebook just suggested me "People you might know" to add as a friend. Patrik Takacs.. and I am wondering why should I get that suggestion, I check it and it is a 13 years old kid.. I take a look who he is....... oh look...

Patrik is currently P2 on Monza... 13 years old ....

The most surprising aspect of this is that there are 13 year olds with Facebook accounts. My kids keep telling me that it's exclusively a boomer network

Sure, i'll see if i saved my fast lap, it's a 25.6. There's an error or two so I feel if I get it all together a 25 flat is there but it'd need to be a perfect lap. Where another FULL second comes from, beyond me.

OK rather than me digging around for my lap, let's use this one as an example. I only see two potential areas of improvement, the second chicane he rides the sausage on exit that upsets the car and in the Parabolica he has to lift for a milisecond. I reakon they are worth what, 4 to 5 tenths so basically a 25 flat as I figure i could do if i got the lap right.

EDIT: Just saw wolverine's lap which is a 24.5. It's FAR more aggressive but also far less tidy, lots of sliding. Totally different approach to gearing, he's dropping an extra gear on entry and upshifting mid corner for a safer exit. Hmmmmmm two totally different approaches.

Just browsing the leaderboard and there are roughly 7,500 people under 1:26 on what is quite a tough challenge. I am wondering whether other driver aids, in addition to TCS, are being used. Normally the aids cost a small amount of ultimate pace. Perhaps they make a gold more easy here. I have yet to test.

TO me, the other driver aids add nothing, the car is quite stable, it just has a lot of wheel spin.

For what it's worth (and it may be coincidence as I've not practiced [20 laps total] or tested for long enough), using ASM and TCS 2 I got gold within a handful of laps.

Quick update as I’m cooking some food before locking in for a longer session. Still playing with settings at Monza, eventually I’ve decided to go ABS weak, TC0, CSA OFF.. mainly because every time I spin it doesn’t seem to help with any of the assists it’s more over kerbs during turns etc 🤣 so I’ve gone full hero mode

Seems to work, I’m setting some very fast sector 1 times; best in this session was 28.32 so I’m sorta keeping up with a 13 year old…! (His lap is beautiful by the way)

If I can hook up all three sectors I think I can do a 1:23.5 but I only have till Wednesday to do it!! Eeep!

Still in the 1:24s but optimum is 1:23.6 already and I’m still not happy with S2

Let’s goooo! ATTACKÉ!!

Oh and I may have a secret weapon for tonight thanks to @Gomario JSP

That optimal time just hurts to see.
Controller with PS4, no TC or anything of such and ABS weak. (After this tried ABS default had much better turn in sector 2,3 but it understeers too much in Parabolicala for me)

I think I am close to the limit of what I can achieve with a controller.

The shifting and waiting for rotation as well as the lack of precise throttle input is killing me with a controller, please someone tell me it gets better with wheel and pedals.

It's more satisfying but harder to be consistent. The controller saves your bacon quite a bit.

8 Laps. 1 valid.... think I am safe in silver. Optimal puts me on .5s of gold so I will try and get the miracle lap this week 🤣

Did my first stint at Monza, not sure I'll insist much there. Barely in bronze, silver is doable.

Used a ghost that is just above silver, he was so far all the time that I've never spotted his braking points...

Cheers buddy, what a beauty! I don’t think my bank balance can cope with an addiction to this badboy!!

Old Faustino did the trick here, still time on the table but I was able to set a new pb and join the 1:23 club.. I set quite a few times in S1 quicker than the current fastest ghost and got more consistent exits everywhere but never tied together the perfect lap; I wish I had the full two weeks to polish this one but that’s life!!

Attached also is one of the S1 sectors in VR, this one is not my favourite for multiple reasons but I always do well with high downforce cars so it’s quite satisfying! 🙃

Did a couple of sessions in Monza over the last few days, and for now this is what I have to show for:

Objectively a very good result in line with my recent ones, but I don't feel particularly fast here. I am on pace with the best drivers in S1 (28.4), but from there on out I don't really know what I'm doing tbh

Maybe I'll still get a grip on how to drive the car through the fast corners, but the other problem is that I don't really have a good goal to chase right now. Top 100 is miles away, and so are the next potential rabbits on my friends board.

So come on @Homestead @Carlos Fandango @peniu @Dolph Drago @Gomario JSP and everybody else: put up a fight

I tried to improve tonight but just couldn't quite put down a single, clean lap with all good sectors. Annoyingly, I had a 24.5 lap that was invalidated as I apparently cut one of the chicanes by an inch. My next best? Exactly .001 slower than my current top time. I got very sideways exiting Parabolica completely unaware that had I not nearly looped it, I would have easily set a lap better by a tenth or two.

By the way, I love all those early 90's F1 paint for the cars on your friend's leaderboard. Lotus, Benetton, Jordan, Ferrari, Williams, Leyton House, and even a freakin' Footwork! Most surprisingly, though, is that there isn't a single McLaren.
