Gradually getting faster at Monza, the Gold time looks more in reach now I've chopped off a second over the last day and am now in the high 1:25's. I've focused on getting on the power earlier across the board and trying to get some flow through 2nd Variante but I'm still slow out of the 1st Variante (I don't know how @Tidgney is so fast out of there) and struggling to not hit the kerb at the 2nd Lesmo, well either that or run wide while trying to avoid the kerb. The rest of the lap seems relatively comfortable now, fingers crossed for more improvement
Less is more. Less braking, less throttle mid corner, less steering input, half throttle until you are straight straight. That helped me

Oh yesssss!!

I thought I might enjoy the Ioniq when I mapped the overtake button properly. Nope. I can't even get my optimals into the 36's. I have absolutely no clue what my car is going to do lap to lap going into the hairpin in sector 2. I swear I'll hit the brakes at the same spot 3 laps in a row with different results. One lap the car doesn't even come close to making the corner, the next I'm crawling around the inside bleeding time, and the following lap it will be perfect. And as bad as the final chicane is in just about any car, it feels even worse with this thing.

Good advice, thanks buddy, I'm trying to incorporate these elements into my driving whilst trying to undo 30 years of muscle memory playing a lot of arcade racers amongst a few sim racers :D

Have you talked to your car? I mean been vulnerable and opened up to before you lap?

You need to be weak to be strong, talk to it and be open to what it says back, digest don't react just listen to it.

Enough of that rubbish, there is some funky braking stuff going on with that car. I can't put my finger on it but it has regen/self braking capabilities in the real ones (don't know about the N spec ones) but ignoring the normal road car crap brakes stuff it's not like them or the VGT things.

Obviously not excuses "cough cough" but that my tin foil hat! ;)

And I suck ;)

I can't imagine what would have happened if PD had included the Nürburgring Nordschleife track. It would have been an IONI-Q disaster for many. It's such a long and brutal track for beginners and even amateurs. I can never get a lap under 9 minutes there to save my life. It's ridiculous. If I see anymore TT's there, I won't do it, even for a bronze time.

@Metalgear9493 what did you mean by the photo? Wow, your thumbs got to be real sore. Show 'em who's boss. Think you'll gain top spot?

There's a clear red circle on the fingerprint of my thumb that matches the exact diameter of the R2 button on my TGT .

But yeah, as for going for the top spot, no chance in hell.

I just aim to try and reach my own personal limit based on my analysis of split times. I don't think I've ever tried to beat someone in GT7, it never works out If you do that because usually you're aiming for a time that's beyond reach.

Yeah, I agree. If you feel you've reached the max limit and get totally stressed, then stop. That's what I always do in a hard TT. Wow, that's wild the fingerprint on your thumb was the same size as the diameter of the R2 button. That's got to be a rarity in many cases. Impressive times everyone, I read all the posts and looked at the entertaining/amazing pictures of your liveries. You all amaze me and make me laugh most of the time.

I'm sorry to hear that, @Vule. I hope you and your family are doing good and are safe. Good luck with your mission and journey. You don't have to be sorry about not tagging us, we will always remember you as a dedicated and strong/fast member here. Thank you also for being supportive of me even though I was negative and complaining at times. At least your equipment will be safe until you're ready to get it out again. Take care chief!!

Sincerely,
Chris

I'm quite pleased with this lap time. Found 3 tenths of second after sitting at a 37.9 for a while and seemingly going nowhere. The IONIQ 5N is a quirky car on all fronts, so it's more than worthy of it's place in Gran Turismo. Do I love it? No, but I find it far more interesting than a 1800HP electric hypercar.
