Chipping away at this slowly but surely.
Exactly 1 second off the #1 time.
You guys in the 1:14s are something else 🫡

Weekend of time trialling now over, did enough laps in the shifter kart to get a safe gold, might come back to this on the final day, but won't be putting much effort in otherwise.

The Evo around Eiger however, that was a combo worth putting some effort into. Initially set a 15.347 after a 45 minute session, this was followed up a 15.210 after another 15 minutes, then another 10 minutes to get down to 15.151 before finally reaching a 15.067 on sunday night. 14.9 is so close, and optimum is 14.8XX so I will definitely be putting in some more laps around here to see if I can break into the top 100.

Current lap of 15.067 has plenty of time remaining to be found. Went a little wide into T1 and had to lift twice through the chicane after the pitlane which both probably cost me a tenth. Will also need to work on optimising my exit from T2 and T4 as i seem to lose a lot of time on the exit of those corners, and overall improve my line through the final corner. Getting the timing right to change up a gear for corner exit is a bit tricky and something I need to improve on.

Hi everyone,

Finally with a nice livery and a second session, I was able to climb up in the rankings, but you guys are unleashed on this combo !

Congratulations to the club members. 14

I have potentially 1 or 2 tenth but as usual, you must be able to sew them together :

I think that this will still evolve by Thursday, it seems to me that lead shoes (Jean-Pierre Jarier inside) have not yet come on the Eiger.

I go karting in BH Indy, I have to be able to brake like a Druid to hope for something better.

Have a good week everyone.

EDIT :

My first session with a 240 setting :banghead::D

Hi,

As my dear lady wife has just had a new knee fitted, I am at home nursing her back to full mobility. As a result, I have much much more time to devote to my favourite part of GT7 - The Time Trials.

The Mitsubishi at Nordwand is testing me to the limits of everything!

I have been, again, chasing a variety of ghosts around here for over a week now. The last 2 corners - as I mentioned earlier - are proving to be my downfall here. Every other section I am "bang on the money". I am even gaining on the ghost in the uphill section next to the pits.

Optimals are in the 1:15:2xx. This morning I have managed to shave a whopping 6/100ths off my time. The lap was only 2 pixels and a tyre valve off being invalidated!

At 1:15:5xx, I think I am done with this one now. I really do feel to have reached my skill ceiling.

As there is lots of free time here at the moment - I may just have a go in a Kart... Then again, the dogs need a lot of walking...

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

I'm coming for ya, P10000!

It is nice to see that some people can retain their sense of humor when faced with personal adversity. We all have nemeses (yeah, I had to look up the correct plural form), mine is Suzuka in just about anything. For those that are confused by this post, I refer you to the Time Trial Leaderboard for this year. Keep up the great work and attitude
Spoiler- Time Trial Leaderboard.

I can finally start giving the kart TT some serious runs today, after thoroughly enjoying myself in Daily Race A all of last week. I tried doing the kart TT in between racing sessions, but going from the Lancer to the kart was just...incoherent. 😆

On the subject of Ghosts, chasing them doesn't work for me, whether it's mine or someone else's. Even if I offset the ghost, I find them distracting me more than guiding me. I'm sure it's a me-problem though.

Instead, when I get stuck I just "watch tapes," as in I watch someone else's replay and take notes of what they're doing differently; their markers, gear selections/applications, throttling, etc. I then try to apply it or incorporate it within the confines of my driving style.

But yeah, for Time Trials, I just need it to be me with a clear shot at the track.

Interesting. Sometimes it helps me, sometimes it distracts. Sometime it helps me to focus because I race this ghost. One time I was faster and missed the breaking point because the ghost blocked visibility.

I set the "ghost on/off" function onto the D-pad ⬆️ this way I can toggle it off easily when I need to see my braking marker.

You need to off set the ghost so you never catch it or if need be reset at sectors for that exact issue.

Also as Skydragon said up on the DPad/Funky switch etc shows or hides the ghost.

Edit:

There is no way I’d be able to improve by just lapping against the delta, I find the ghost helps me smooth out braking to close the gaps and seeing how I’m visually doing relative to them.

Is there a way to see what the fastest time with a controller is? I just started GT7 after years of not playing a GT game and I managed to sneak into gold on both events in about 3 hours of play time (but that Evo lap better not get even one hundredth faster). I don't feel like I'm especially fast at all, but it'd be neat to know if I'm any good actually.

Hi,

I can't find any website that tells you this information. That said, if you look in here...

Then look at the leaderboard - generated by the venerable and coffee loving Half-sourly! - That list contains information on who is using a wheel or a controller. There may be a website that offers more for you. I can't find one though.

Hope that helps some.

Regards.

Ian.

Also...

Managed to shave another few hundreds off this afternoon. Nordwand time now sits at 1:15:4xx - That lap was saved by just one pixel and the tyre valve dust cap!!! The margins at the top of these leaderboards are microscopic.

Happy lapping folks.

This isn’t a TT lap I just don’t have current ones saved

But I wanted to show you what I use as a ghost, a few of the faster guys have them a lot closer (Kie springs to mind, but I think wind and hollow do as well)

I will never catch this ghost I’ve set it .2 in front and at the time was No# 6 in the world.

It never once gets in my way and I could almost keep up. I landed 660th in QT for daily B with this lap.

What I’m trying to say is it’s what you get from the ghost and that is not trying to beat it, but to maintain the gap. Unless there are very few faster than you they are the number one training tool of used correctly.

Plus who wants to be lonely lapping?

Again it’s not a TT lap but a QT lap but all of the principles are the same

That's it! A ghost is to be followed, not beaten.

Also I'm a firm believer that finding time is all about perception first. Realizing what I'm doing different and then adapting to what the ghost does.

Perception first, then skills to adapt. The second part is where I usually fail. At least I get the grasp of it. 😅😅

I think this is the thing, when I was a bumper cam player I had to use the ghost for just the lines.

What I found for me was my own ghost is useless because I’m pretty average and inconsistent, the top ghosts are really consistent.

When I started trying to improve for QT not TT I used to set them behind me, and that was fun for a minute. The reality is that you have to learn to follow. And if you do any daily racing “the ghost is distracting” wait till you are racing actual cars that are in the way and solid.

If you can race the AI at pace and do dailies the ghost isn’t a distraction at all, just don’t hit it and keep up.
