Hello there (I ♥️ NY too)

Another TT that is one and done. Didn't like the British boat much. Don't mind not getting into the 52's club.

How goes it, my friends! Hope your time trialing is going well! :)

I noticed I hadn't posted in over a week. A quick update for anyone interested. My anticipated discharge date from the hospital is April 15th, so I've still got some time I'll be stuck here. The therapists and doctors all say they see improvement each day even though I don't really notice it myself. Then it will be back to my folks' home and continuing outpatient physical therapy until I'm on my feet well enough to go back to my own house. Also it will be nice to hop on GT7 once again. I'm going to be rusty, I'm sure! :D
Hi my friend It's nice of you to give us some news and to read you here again. So much the better if the operation went well. And above all, be patient even if you don't see much improvement, unlike the doctors. Take good care of yourself. It will always be a pleasure to read you here and see your feedback on GT7 :cheers:

Fingers crossed for an early finish to your rehab. No matter how rusty you get, you’ll still be light years faster than 99% of the player base.

Good to hear from you, keep in touch.

Yeah 12 years ago, when i got my first Top10 Finish, he took the win. 😂
I sometimes wondering if the "old" aliens are still playing GT (Amo87, TiTech, Zoky, Eclipsee...), maybe with a new PSN name. 🤔
Seeing BanditKarter in the top 10 was a very pleasant surprise this week. It looks like he got the game recently, so I hope he keeps playing in the near future. I know both of us were huge fans of the karts back in the day so I'm not surprised it's this of all things where he makes his appearance. Nice feeling of nostalgia seeing as we're both in the top 10 currently. :)

As for the others, Ti-tech was playing around the release of GT7 and occasionally on GT Sport as well, still extremely fast as ever but doesn't quite have the same edge as before but it's been a few years now since I've seen him on the game. Zoky was competing in the GTWS in 2018 (we even shared the podium together at the Salzburg World Tour), but I haven't seen him since then. Amo and Eclipsee are just completely gone they've more than likely moved on.

One of the best laps I've ever done for a time trial. I don't know how I managed to stay focused and keep my pace up because I sometimes get a bit excited when I know I'm up and then proceed to throw the lap away. It's all about the small things here - a little extra brake, a slightly different line and a little less throttle at the right moment all add up to solid gains. Was the lap millimetre perfect? Probably not, but which lap ever is? Not many I assume. Still, the Vantage is a fantastic car to drive because it puts up with all the crap I throw at it. The rear grip is unbelievable for a rear-drive road car.
Last test for today in Watkins Glen :
Improve my time at 1'52'494

Hello, guys I know I said I wasn't going to post here anymore, maybe every once in a while. That is good news Dolph, good luck with your physical therapy. Be careful and take one day at a time. Do not rush. Hopefully you'll get your TT power back in you once you return home.

Take care...

Chris

Great news @Dolph Drago, you’ll start to get in the groove after a few sessions mate I’m sure of it!

Vantage feels like a weightier & tubbier GR 86 to me…. I’m starting to feel it. I will say that, despite it tempting me to throw its weight around, most of the time, caressing it into the apex seems to give me better results. When in doubt keep it in 4th gear 👍I hit a 1:53.613, and will keep pushing.

Hi, are you new to this TT thread, if so welcome to the hot lapping gang. You'll find a lot of tips and advice from these professionals that have been on here for a long time. Even watch their videos and replays on the track, you might end up winning a silver or a golden medal for the hard work and effort. Enjoy the game...

Oh come on! How'd you do that?
I have a secret, but I don't know if I can share it here... 🤔🤔
Come on, I'll reveal it to you so everyone can benefit : I've turned the wheel when there's a bend, braked when you have to, and accelerated when you can, and last but not least: have fun. This will help you a lot.🤣🤣
More seriously, I love combos with road cars, much more than racing cars.

Great news, Dolph !

Your doctors' comments are very encouraging.

I am pleased to read that you have a lot of family support right now.

You also have our full support for your recovery.

Keep us updated 💪

Frustrating this one 🤣
I got a lot better in the first sectors, but i lost all the knowhow for the last sector 🤣
No matter what I did I could not get my for-last turn right.... and stuffed up some REALY promising laps 😡🤣🤣

An example of many many stuff ups 🤣
With a S2 split of 1.08.390 🙈....should get me a very descent place IF I can figure out the rest 🤣

@Dan_Tes in front 😁

@Dolph Drago you got this buddy, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, good luck! 🙏

Insane control, that crash at the end made you look like a human for a moment!

@Dolph Drago speedy recovery and then joining us again for some record lap times

@Gomario JSP amazing lap, as always. (Edit, until the penultimate turn :D )I assume you are P50 or so, so I guess it is not so easy to get a tenth when you are so high at world leaderboard. So I should probably not give you advices (you have split 1.08.3xx and I have 1.08.8 ) but I wonder if you are chasing your own ghost or P1? I think you can get maybe one tenth after that split when you go into RIGHT (Edit*) turn, that is kinda 1:17 in lap time, I studied P1 lap there and he downshift to third for better rotation and he exit that turn too in 3rd. IDK if that can work for you, but just an observaion and maybe you want to try that one?

@Gomario JSP that is a tremendous lap with superb control. Yeah, that left-hander (turn 10) prior to final right is so tricky. It’s critical to get the car as wide to the right as possible before entry. I am tapping the brake and coasting through the apex using some curb - early throttle seems to land me off track on right side similar to you.

Otherwise you may find maybe a 50/1000 second or so in the uphill section of sector 1 - it can be taken at full throttle (no lift off). Using just a bit more curbing will do the trick. Take my advice with a grain of salt as I’m a good 2 seconds on lap slower than you 😊overall amazing lap mate.

I also followed Dan Tes 😊 thank you for providing an excellent lap to learn from.

I dropped the force feedback strength from 4 to 2 and found 2 10ths.

Really enjoying this one. I love the way she handles.

@Dolph Drago Great to hear the good news. Hang in there bud!

Sorry buddy. Second session I seemed to find a little bit of a groove...

I think I've got more. Optimals looked good... Should be able to find a mid high 51 if I can manage to remember how when I play again. 🍻

Morning all - wife and daughter in NY for the weekend & teenage son fast asleep equals track time at Watkins Glen. 20 lap session ended at 1:52.006 🤦‍♂️ - so close and almost called it quits there - decent time but achingly close to the 51's. Off to view the replay and take some pictures. I know where the time went, but consistency is so difficult with this car, and getting through the Esses cleanly (no TC, no CSA, ABS weak).

Optimal splits are well into the 51's though (1:51.784) so couldn't resist another quick run - and Bingo, 1:51.989! I think I can still find another tenth, but not sure whether I can string it together and not lose my mind

Lap is shared for anyone that is interested.

Thanks!, 🤣 trust me, it comes with a lot of trial and error for me, no alien yet, they do this in the first few laps 🤣.... without the crash though 🤣
@Gomario JSP

High-flying example !

Very good passage to "Outer Loop" (T5), minimal oversteer at "Chute" (T6), excellent exit/traction at "Toe" (T7).

When it is going to be assembled with a perfect turn end, you will finish very high !

Really inspiring for what I need to improve...
Thanks, I hope I can stick it some time,
But playtime is limited right now....life is busy, but I'm going to do my best as always 😁😁

Thanks buddy, come on now...don't do yourself short, there are many TT's you ended up above me, besides, advice is not place depending if you ask me, all tips are welcome!
This time i was fallowing Dan, but im switching now and than, I never use my own ghost.....don't no why, just never done it 🤣
Third in that corner I didn't even though of, it's already so tricky in 4th but it worth a try!
Very difficult brakepoint too, its always "somewhere" in thr middel of the two banners on thr left..... difficult corner , imma teh that, thanks! 🙏

Thanks for the tips mate!, S1 I know indeed it can be full send but I'm nailing that 1 out of 10.... and that slight lift almost always.... but you are right, i should get better it indeed,

Yes forlast corner hate me 🤣
Imma try some coasting 😁🙏

First 20 minutes at Watkins Glen with the Vantage, the long right-left in S1 is really frustrating because it can be taken flat out with the right line but I did that maybe one time, other times I had to lift:banghead:.Otherwise I like how it can be thrown around the corners without losing too much time. Feels lighter than it really is..
Managed a 1.54.6xx(don't remember the exact time)
Definetely coming back to this one !
Ultimate goal is to get below 1:53:000

It’s not really easy to pick out in the replays, but that change to 5th (when) is crucial for a flat out up hill Esses, if you time it right the slack in the change just lets you turn in a bit more and your more set up for the exit.

What I can’t replicate is taking so much curb at the top of the hill, I just can’t slide/catch/stop the bounce understeer if I do it.

I have the same problem, I want nothing to do with that curb🤬. So most times I just turn too late and directly kill my lap by meeting Barry R:lol:

I'm not gelling with the Vantage as much as I thought I would. Maybe I'll keep trying with the remaining time, but that may depend on if I feel like doing any of the new week's Daily Races.

Hopefully banking a lap in the 2.63% will be enough to keep my streak of Gold going.

Thanks that's very helpful.

I'm feeling lucky this week apparently. Started my day with about laps in the Vantage, and managed to get into the 52s, pretty happy with that for the moment.

I must have done about 200 laps in the kart today () and have got down to 49.296... the top 100 is so so so close, but I've stopped improving. Definitely time for a break, and hopefully coming back to it later on will help me find that last tenth and a bit I need to get there... for now of course
