This last tt is a pure joke

Or i woke up @Dan_Tes

I hope is the second one, but suspect is the first

No. Nowhere even close. Not even a 40.4 will happen. Or a 40.50x, or 40.51x. I doubt a 40.52x.

How are you calculating this? At your supposed 39.8 (let's say flat), gold would be 40.198, not 40.700.

If someone does manage a 40.529, gold will be 40.934.
It really doesn't matter. You're missing the point and getting caught up in trivialities. Even if you're just average at driving, this TT is about as easy as breathing.

It kinda does, because you're passing out wholly untrue information, and it's going to confuse people. Where are you getting these numbers from?

Same as the 2X event that ran here from March 24 to April 7 2024. It's basically a free 2m credits for everyone.

I'm going by the silver rating, e.g. the 5%+ within the top time as marked on the game TT page. Which currently lists a 42 second time as the silver area. Unless the player really sucks at driving, how can they even not get gold on this TT?

I don't have a problem with the easy-ness of this, it just baffles me why this was even chosen.

Silver isn't gold. Gold requires a time no worse than 1% slower than the record (a special case, also applied to the 2X event and events like the Olympic qualifier; it's usually 3%).

That still doesn't explain your postulated 39.8 (which will not happen) or 40.7 (a weird 2.3% slower) figures. Where are they coming from?

The fastest anyone is probably ever going to get is 39.800-ish. even if you clock a 40.700 you'll still be in the gold area.

Yes, as with the 2X event a year ago at the same track. Basically 2m free credits for just about 40 seconds' effort.

What's the issue?

But to be fair you are confusing driving with just going round in a circle and who can go in a weirdly shaped tri “circle” isn’t driving, it just holding a button and turning left.

So the times are going to come down to who set them first, that is already shown in the pure volume to top times that have the same time!

There is only if at all 1/1000ths to find from the current time and that will all be line optimisation.

Has PD ever changed the threshold mid TT? Like have they ever said yeeeeeah we're changing it from 3% to 0.05%?
Yes several times they have reduced the margin.

So far my best lap, but obviously way off still!

You aren’t likely to go much better than that now ranking wise not because you aren’t gaining those 1000ths just that so many people will have got that time first now.

Diminishing returns after the first few days on this one as the cohorts to leapfrog become harder and harder to gain from.

Mid-event? I don't think that's ever happened has it? Not within the past year and a half or so anyway...
Not the margin, but I think this was an error as it should have been set to the previously used 1 or 1.5%

But in all honestly I don’t think shifting it 1 day after it started is like a massive issue in that it’s so much easier than say a long track in the Redbull X19 etc

I'm not sure what you're referring to...this current TT? Wasn't the margin for gold 1% right from the start?

Maybe PD felt bad for glitching so many wheels?

40.590", badda bing bodda boom
Shame they didn’t feel so bad when they nerfed the Fanatec ones for a couple of months. I’d imagine there is by volume a lot more Fanatec hardware for the game than TF Logi wheels.

But the main issue is what is so broken in their dev pipeline that they screw up the wheel APIs every few updates, sometimes TM sometimes Fana, Sometimes Logi just makes no sense or rhyme or reason. Just random as hell.

Aw c'mon man don't just stop...you can gold this one in a few more laps. Just floor it and plant your left wheels as close to the yellow lines as you can and keep them there.
Yep, stay on the yellow line and gold is quite easy. It’s a little harder to maintain the line with a controller, but I just did a 40.672 and probably won’t look at it again. Daytona is all about having as little steering input as possible.

Well, I jumped on my other accounts today to get quick money on the Chaparral TT. On my Abroad account It took a few laps, but I got myself into the 40.599. Happy to get sub 40.6 but that’s enough for that one.

Then I saw I hadn’t done a time for Watkins Glen with the Vantage so I jumped on that. And what do you know? New best time for me and the top 400 position. Super stoked.

I feel there is more time in me still though so I’m gonna have to go back onto my VR account and try it there. (Edit: no improvement in that account).

I think my new wheel settings are paying dividends.

Oh, and here’s a tip. On the Chaparral, I found it much easier to maintain the corners changing my steering wheel settings to 1440°. Just don’t forget to change it back to auto before you drive other cars. Of course, this is on the Fanatec direct drive. Other wheel bases your mileage may vary.
