This Daytona TT will f-up my progress on the leaderboard lol....
Been working to get an average ranking under 10.000...
Clocked a time +0.4% yesterday and in placed me 14.000th on the ranking, probably even way lower by now :banghead:
Will do a couple of daily marathons and try to get the time down just a bit more 🤷‍♂️

On the other hand. Easiest 2Mil ever :D

It kinda does, because you're passing out wholly untrue information, and it's going to confuse people. Where are you getting these numbers from?

Same as the 2X event that ran here from March 24 to April 7 2024. It's basically a free 2m credits for everyone.
I tried the 2X Daytona for hours and while numerically close to gold, it didn't happen. But for 99,9% of al GTplanet users it was easy 2M.

Hello everyone,

I think we’re about to run out of jokes about the Chaparral/Daytona TT.

I take advantage of this quiet period to get your opinion about the previous Brands Hatch/Karting TT.

According to @half_sourly difficulty barometer, this event is in the good half of easy combos.

Looking at the results at the end of the event, I was surprised by everyone’s results:
  • Some aliens stay on top as usual,
  • For others, I expected to find them higher,
  • Some new challengers have done great things.

In general, what did you think of this TT?

For my part, I give you my opinion.

Since the beginning of the year, I have been trying to participate more regularly and more seriously.

Thanks to you, getting the gold medal is no longer a goal... Now, I aim for a delta around 1.5%, and I’m very happy when I go below 1%.

BH/Karting is certainly the event I have spent most time on since Daytona Road/Viper Gr.3 – Sardegna/Dino – Dragons Gardens/Merc. 190 + BMW M3 E36.

I would even say that the time investment was unreasonable.

I think I reached a glass ceiling during this challenge.

During my various sessions, I obtained several optimals below 49.050 of which 1 to 49.030.

This should have allowed me to be in the middle of the top 100 midfield.

This is where I realize what it takes to reach the Alien level. Hats off to you guys !

Looking at a little bit:

- T1 Paddock Hill Bend: I was pretty regular, my deltas were almost identical to 10 hundredths in the ascent towards HailwoodHill,

- T2 Druids Bend, the first difficulty that could ruin my lap. I tried lines and braking variants (with or without abs) to find consistency,

- T3 Graham Hill Bend: For me the most decisive section because of the success of this entry depends on the speed maintained for Cooper Straight which can cause 1 or 2 tenths to lose (I have often invalidated a lap in this section),

- T4 Surtess: not really a topic,

- T5/6 McLaren/Clark Curve: another section subject to significant improvements. The braking after the end of the concrete conditions the glide of the first curve, then precisely expand the trajectory towards the curb to maintain a decisive speed for the end.

All this to tell you that I found this TT extremely difficult in the last hundredth hunt and that I find the WR really crazy.

Thank you for reading.

I can join in on this. Also put a good amount of time in this TT (around 350-400km) in the hunt for a 1,5% time.
By the end it was mostly muscle memory and consistent times of high 49.6- low 49.7, sometimes little thousands off my PB.
Trying to improve was a headache as I then would overcook T3 and/or T5/6 and lose all progress, often invalidating the next lap as well...

Entertaining TT, but seeing the top-10 ghosts drive away at points I could not really find improvement was.... dissapointing?

I got silver on one of 5 users. I hate carts. Especially since GT5. I weren't decent with karts in GT6 either. So only bronze for long run grinding to get the 20M cars.

I tried Daytona again this morning, i think i did 5 laps and pressed exit and went for the weekly challenges to win things i already have 3 times in the game, that says enough, had a blast racing around in cockpitview with all info on screen turned off.

See you next week folks, cause this timetrial ain't doing it for me and i'll be happy dangeling somewhere below in the leaderboard 😁 😂 😂

Personally i really liked this one, i usually do 1 TT out of 2.

I don't have a lot of time to devote to the game so i prefer to do 1 good TT than 2 average ones.

For my part it is essential and an incredible time saver to watch the tutorial of @Tidgney and @Mistah_MCA thanks to them !

My best results came with constancy, if i manage to play 3-4 nights in a row even only 30 minutes i get good results.
In general it's about 3-4 sessions of 1-2 hours over the 2 weeks of TT.

You'll often see people doing worse than expected, because they don't have time, they don't enjoy the TT (like @Gomario JSP with the latest one), or they want to get the gold but are bored with TTs/GT7 (as @jontikis recently said he was).

I really enjoyed this, despite hating the first session. My time was around 49.65 after that first session and I almost left it there, which would have given me a place probably around 1,500th. But I changed some settings (wheel SENS and FFB mostly) which made a huge difference, paid closer attention to the top replays and realised I could get a decent time. In the end my optimal sectors strung together would have gotten me around 15th, but that is meaningless; part of the skill is putting those sectors together and it just didn't work out for me.

Still, it turned out to be my best percentile finish yet out of the 134 TTs (0.0172%), my third best gap to number 1 (0.551%) and my joint second best position (38th).

Personally I like the time trials because it makes me drive car/ track combinations that otherwise I would never have used. But my goal is just to get gold because I know I can't get top 100's anyway. I don't really spend a lot of time trying to shave off the last few tenths. Maybe when I switch from a controller to the Logitech G Pro wheel in a couple weeks I will gain more speed and try harder at TT's.

The real excitement in Gran Turismo for me is in the daily races and especially GTWS races. It provides memorable moments and an adrenaline rush that I don't get from doing time trials. But to each their own.

It was quite fun going around in a circle. Clocked 260km doing this. But I think I'm done here.

I need to get to the Vantage. I know I have some more time at Watkins Glen and won't get a chance next week as I am going to be out of town.

Happy Hunting Folks... 🥇

I enjoyed the Kart TT a fair bit. But I'm still kinda blown away by that one top time that basically came out of nowhere. I was sitting at 1.9% for several days and all the top times were only hundredths apart so I figured I had a decent chance of staying sub-2% and then BOOM the top time drops by almost a tenth and I'm now at 2.22%! I don't think anyone really got close to beating that did they? There was still a pretty big gap between 1 and 2 at the end I think. It's odd that only one guy was able to pull off whatever move made that time happen...

For me, the TTs are sort of the perfect challenge. This falls right in line with the way I've always enjoyed GT games. Just me in a car against the track trying to go faster than I did the last lap. Racing (AI or other humans) just doesn't interest me at all really. I wish there was a more robust Time Trial element in the game with constantly up to date world record leader boards for all the tracks and so forth.

3 laps and I'm done. Not an oval guy, I don't like NASCAR.
[Silver]
Umm... how?

There's only two things to do: full throttle all the time, be close to the inside yellow lines. That'll get you within 0.6% every lap, and gold is +1%.

It's odd that only one guy was able to pull off whatever move made that time happen...
He had a sector 1 that was about 0.1 sec better than most. More or less perfect in both Paddock Hill (min speed 98mph, then mostly 101mph down the hill and touching 102 briefly) and Druids (perfect slide entry and nailed the exit).

I know...and I find it amazing that none of the other 20 or so fastest guys in the world was able to manage that. A tenth in that TT was a pretty massive margin.

(I'm not in any way suggesting there was anything "janky" about that time or anything. I'm just surprised that it was such an outlier I guess is what I'm getting at...)

back the the only TT worth talking about....

I think I have a solid gold from the outer loop to the finish line, while the uphill and the bus stop trow me back here.

Uphill: turn2 I have to remove the bad habit of being late, resulting in staying too much at centrer street. Assoming I do turn2 ok (1 out of 3-4 times :grumpy: ) then I am late on turn 3 and have to negotiate a lot. I was able to do it couple of times, but I throw away the lap elsewhere

Bus stop: I tried with some overlay, which I used with good results in other TTs, but cannot make it work. If I want to pass there alive I have to start braking at 600mt and don't touch the pedals for the whole doulbe turns.

I hope I can work on it again over the we

Literally, someone just did it with an iPhone...
I bet it will be first TT won by AI.
If I had a 6 axis robot at hand I would already be teaching him to motion steer at Oval.

EDT
Wait, I just realized you need 1 axis robot for that.
Wait, that is servo drive actually.
Wait, you could program one DD Control the other DD base :))
EDT Ultimo
Wait. , did PD release this Daytona TT to compare how Sophy could ourrank humans? I bet they did best time with Sophy on it internally.

that is interesting @NicoGmbh 👍

I guess reason leaderboard in this TT looks like D.Trump flipped the board is due to Kart driving feeling.

You either love it or hate it. Thus many top scorers passed on this one I guess.

I personally like Kart only since Tsukaba Daily Race which was my first date with kart since some old GTs but with very decent results.
More strangely It was first TT I haven't used any Guides - just top videos. (I use guides since my half way with TTs)
This also prooves to me howexceptional TT - in which rules do not apply fully, if I managed high score with above spoken.

It wasn't easy but it was challanging differently, so to say.

[tinfoil hat] My theory is PD is testing subliminal messaging with this TT.

Think about it; you sit down doing almost nothing with the drone of the engine leaving you unaware of the passage of time.

I had some funky dreams last night after my first stint at this TT...[/tinfoil hat]

🤪

Improved a little at Watkins

Jeez, this combo is a tough one for me, what with the weight transfer, the fact it slides sometimes and not others and has a love/hate relationship with the kerbs has seen me ace certain sectors only to bin it in others. Maintaining corner speed seems to be the key but the damn thing and its fat bum just seem very inconsistent from one lap to the next.

@Ian JB Over to you good Sir 😎
