Until today I was always under the impression that Willow Springs was a fictional track. In any case I Iook foreward to driving it again. It looks incredible. Especially during that single player race where it changes from daylight to dark. Great track all around.
It was actually just recently sold so will be interesting to see what the new owner does with it. There's a bunch of excellent Motortrend youtube videos of them testing road cars there, makes excellent viewing for revheads.

Looking forward to this one, Willow is a track that was just appalling on d-pad so looking forward to trying it with a wheel. The nature of the track does not lend itself to point n squirt, square it up and fire out .... type driving a dpad deamands so I have a feeling this will be like Fuji where I finally "get" the track.

Alrighty, squeezed in another half an hour. I think dabodedo (that would be good) for now.

One of our more popular tracks for car commercials,testing,etc.etc. It has a little bit of everything. I have a cool story from a few years ago but don't want to derail. lol

Man this is a tough track eh, I really struggle on tracks with no defined apex. Managed a 19.6, optimal 19.3, both in the 155 Alfa. Tried the MEgane and the 4C, will go back to them with more experience. This will be tough, I think we need a 18.6ish to be safe.

Are you using a ghost and if you are are you using it to benefit from?

The Circuit Experience really helps with the basics on this plus the corvette is a fun drive round the big right handers, there is very little braking and just lots of coasting to go quickly

Edit:

I want to apologise for being over vocal and opinionated recently :( I’m taking medication to stop smoking after 30 years and I’ve now stopped smoking for 7 weeks.

The downside of this is it is a medication that doesn’t play massively well with alcohol as it’s a neuro inhibitor. Reading back some of my posts, they aren’t me from a month ago, happy and positive.

That said I’m now off it and not smoking so it’s a win. Apologies peeps :(

Just did a stint of 53 laps at Lake Louise. With a grand total of …drumroll… 3 valid laps. I'm ready to give up.

Still in silver.

But I can literally smell the gold.

Just have to put it together for once.

I have shared my best lap with the tags gtp as well as gtptt. If any of you could be so kind and take a look and give me some feedback on it I would be very thankful.

You guys, ugh. I picked a great time to try and get back up the leaderboards in TTs. The Corolla at LL is just... ugh.

Turn one and the final turn just slay me. Nailing the turn-in, rotation, and then getting all the way out to the bank in T1 is soooo hard. Staying there and not getting sucked up to the bank is another challenge. It's just such a foreign way to maximize exit speed.

Then in the final corner I'm exiting at around 73-73mph and 5k rpm, just bogging like hell, while the fast guys are exiting at 79-80mph. I just can't get this little bastard to stop bogging down. I'm ok through the rest of the course, but those two corners are killing me.

I think I'm at a 1:02.7 something for the moment, but had at least one invalidated 1:02.4... still out of gold range after like, 60 laps. I want 1:01s here, but dang, it's gonna take some work.

I simultaneously love and hate this one.

Props to all of you in gold range here. This is NOT easy by any stretch!

EDIT: I just watched the Tidgney guide and the same thing is true with him. When he plays in 2D his exit speed in the final corner is close to 80mph, but in VR he's down to 73 mph. He mentions that some people think that there is "more grip" in VR. I've never heard anything like this before.

Anyone else feel there's any credence to this?

Yo, do tell!
Sorry for the derailment but I was coerced.
Cliffnotes: A few years ago, driving up from SoCal after dropping off my daughter at college, on a quiet early morning on the I-5 in the vicinity of Willow Springs, these joined me on the freeway. Right before the Supra was released. All four cars were together. All had cb radio antennas or the sort. The Supra and Bimmer were doing pulls and so were the other two. And here I was fittingly in a 2JZ Lexus IS Sportcross. lol

Pretty good run (for me at least!!) at willow springs, and will try to refine this as time goes on.

I hear you man 😊let’s push each other through to gold. It’s a tough one but also one where we’re learning so much…. And probably losing some hair in the process 🤣

Hello there!

Have I ever mentioned around here that the Viper is one of my favorite cars ever? 😁

Glad I could set a safe gold with my favorite car, but its performance is just not good. The car just looses momentum so easily, understeer is a real pain too.

Anyways, gold it is. I'll try another odd car later on.

The lap:

That was a surprising quick one. First lap at Willow Springs and I got gold. Second lap was quicker still, third lap quicker still, and lap 4 was this one. That’s all I’ve done so far.

The 4C used to be one of my favorite cars, then PD destroyed it. Now it seems to be back!

I love the 4C here.

I hope this is enough to stay in the gold zone. I knew I was onto something when I hooked into the last corner.

I don't think I've driven the Megane Trophy in this game before. It's quite an interesting experience because it's a purpose-built racecar and nothing like the modified road cars that take up the majority of Group 4. The chassis is taught, the balance is ideal and the steering is very accurate. It's a little prototype which deserves it's own place in the car list instead of being lumped with cars that are completely different in both philosophy and design.

I managed to claw my way into gold at Lake Louise with a 1:02.119… will keep fingers crossed that this is enough. Just tried to take the first sector, mimic the ghost’s inputs as much as I could, and eventually got it. Key for me was keeping momentum on T1 sliding towards the right, and then threading between the last two bollards to keep up my speed. Then keeping nose of car planted towards the next two turns as best as possible. Wondering who/what is replacing all the bollards I’ve smashed on the 30 or so laps I’ve completed today 😋
