I've played the demo on the X-Box and I was very impressed with the game. Although I was thinking that maybe the PS2 version won't be as nice graphics wise?

Eh i'll probably get the ps2 version anyway, I can forget the pc version because of starforce and the fact that my pc is an unstable pice of ****e.

For all of them, I'll use it for clutch kick but not to change gears, I'd want a clutch pedal for that, which I don't have.

For the one asking about ToCA RD 2006's physics model compared to GT4, I'm sure the answer would be "It's MUCH better." In terms of driving models, the most common would likely be:

01 - GTR (PC)
02 - ToCA Race Driver 2006 (PS2/XBOX/PC/(other platforms?))
03 - Gran Turismo 4

As much as I like the Gran Turismo series, even I'll say that while GT4 is realistic, there are more realistic games. Whereas the GT series is more accessible, games like ToCA Race Driver and GTR (which I STILL haven't bought. I have many of the recommended requirements with this new PC) are for the pure racing enthusiasts. For many, this is a case of inexperienced racers getting a bigtime pounding on the track. Take it from me. As much GT experience as I have, I've seen myself having to keep using "Restart Race," especially if I know I can win the race, but couldn't.

The reason why I say that "Pro Race Driver" is the worst in the series are for several reasons. * For one, the AI is the worst in any racing game. Get on me about GT all you want, and I'll mention PRD all I want. It comes to a point where their bad driving can determine whether or not you win the race. * You have to go through several races just to be able to save your progress rather than ToCA RD 2's AutoSave after one race is done. * The Canberra course is included, and with all the awkward corners, it is a nightmare. * Sometimes, the AI is so rough that you have to ram into THEIR asses just to move up the ranks. Like an episode of Fifth Gear mentioned, you may have to go to "Offensive Driving School" against them.

ToCA R.D. 2 was a great game, but as this is looking, this is going to be hot.

Sting, the car isn't just based on the rothmans williams, it IS the rothmans williams lifted straight from the 1997 season i beleive. The FW18.

RI, at the codemasters forums, one of the codies guys who has been providing us with info has said they are incredibly happy with the PS2 version, more so than other version because of how much they have pushed out of the ps2, theres rumours also that the PS2 version has a couple of extra things in it.:D

I've entered a competition to go to the SCEE HQ and play RD3 for a day next week, i doubt i will win but worth a try:D

Edit: Maybe not 1997, its the 1996 one http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=1/3005055397.jpg&s=x2

If your gonna buy the game, go to "game" right now and pre order it.

I saw a sign on the RD3 stand and it said "pre order now and receive free tickets to the British touring cars at Silverstone" Read the small print and surely enough, you get a voucher to redeem 2 tickets the the touring cars.

Preordered this a couple of days ago and really looking forward to it ^_<
Now the ads on UKTV are beginning to make me want it more

Got my hands on full-xbox-game. Not much difference to the press-full-demos I wrote about in previous posts, except that all story-movies are now produced in full.

Everything else is basically as in previews. Link to those threads if you're intrested:

Still waiting for full-PS2 version because of DFP and LAN battles - my Surgeons Crew is eagerly waiting to connect and race some Hill-Hell on LAN.

Overall - it's a great game which push the bar for console racing up to the sky. Damage, sand-traps, mechanical failures, tyre punctures, riding on the wheel with sparks, 19 opponents, part-modding and tuning, race set-up, tyre management - you say it, it's in.

I managed to snag a PS2 demo of this game from Ebay. All I can say is WOW! This game will be a racing simulator's dream, especially if you have the DFP. You can pretty much set the difficulty however you want, make it as sim as you want, AI is intelligent, aggressive (again, depending on the level of difficulty you set it at), etc.

Don't get me wrong, I love GT, the ultimate DRIVING simulator from PD, it has it's strengths, no doubt. But this will be the love of those wanting the ultimate RACING simulator. If you've ever seen those GT and/or touring car races on the Speed channel and wished GT could be more like those, this will be the best thing to get for the consoles.

Agreed..
The only things i've found in TRD2 that annoyed me are the way all the cars feel very wide and cumbersome.
If they could just get the BTCC and JGTC i'd be awesome

Ashley.
Maybe if we all got Ps2 online we could have some proper good GTP games.

That would be a blast. If everyone were in a "Pro-Sim" room or something like that (not sure how online is set up), you'd almost have to race clean just to stay on the track. Playing bumper cars like in GT would get you in the grass or sand traps real quick.

I just got the demo for it, and I don't like it. But, it's a good game, and a lot better than most other car racing games. GT4 is better, though.

What I hated about it, were the stupid controls. I hate using the stick to steer the car. The D pad wont steer the car, at all. Bleh.

Other things bothered me, but I wont bore you with them. What I did like was the sound of the cars, and everything. Not bad. 👍

Again, I didn't go nuts for it, but I can see why you guys would. It should be a great game if you're a serious car racing video game fan.

what? you have to use the stick to control the cars, that's such a bad news for me cause i have alot troubles with the stick, man, I think I am gonna have to pass this great game:guilty:

I think that's the demo only, the game let's you configure the controls. I can change every control in the PC demo.

That would be great, thanks LFS, I am planning to buy an 26 inches LCD TV, is there any info about TOCA 3 will support progressive scan?

I got this demo yesterday, after struggling to find one within a reasonable time before the final comes out.

It will definitely be a big hit with many GT players. It may not be perfect, in all ways, but what it gets right is going to make it fun.

Drifters are going to love it, that's for sure.

I am not all that pleased with the feel of the rally car, but it certainly helps to crank up the force feedback, with my old DF wheel. Otherwise you may as well not even have any force feedback. The track is pond-water smooth, too.

The sounds are lucsious, very full and very throaty for big engines. Great individual car sound effects. You'll love it! You can tell they went all the way with sound elements, even reflected sounds (which is a bit odd coming from over the track solid banners/advertising displays). You will hear a lot more than just wind rush, that's for sure.

Graphics are what I've been used to on the PS2, but colours are sort of washed out, so far. They are certainly good enough, especially if we gained something else because of it.

This will keep us busy until something on the PS3 comes out, and, since it took Codemasters about one year (10/2004) to release this after ToCA2, then I imagine ToCA4 will certainly get through the gate before GT5 will.

Good stuff!

MasterGT

people, stop making it sound so good, you're making me want to pre-order it!

Impreza04
It doesn't sound good it is good ^_<
Looking worth every penny so far

Agreed. To get the most out of it, get the DFP, set the force-feedback to high, and set the game to pro-simulation.

It just might be everything you wish GT was.

OPM didn't give it a very good review... They called the physics "Floaty", which is what I have been calling the TXR series physics since day one... I'm hoping this is just a coincidence... It looks good so far, though...

Here's hoping...

;)

I tried the demo and it didn't impress me much. The physics are the same as in TRD2 (at least, that's what I felt). But Enthusia's physics have spoiled me, I guess.

Nevertheless, it's a must buy. GT4 is collecting dust since I bought Enthusia nearly one year ago and I need another game to play.

I got the demo earlier this week and I must say I am quite impressed. The sheer variety of different types of racing is mind boggling. The AI will take some getting used to but I think I will enjoy this game.:dopey:
