The trailer looks great. Seeing the Corvette Gr.3 that I had posted a pic of in the 'What new cars would you like to see' thread, did feel bittersweet!

FM7 had weather based on % chance but it didn't have the cloud simulation GT does.

The engine has long been capable of dynamic time of day. Everyone else has it now, so it doesn't feel like a breakthrough. The surface changing does, but the impact remains to be seen.

That's interesting. A lot of content creators for GT7 have made comments recently about the revelation that it appears the weather in GT7 impacts track temperature, as they've found you can set quicker qualification times in temperate weather over hot, as grip is better.

Makes it apparent that while the FM8 reveal is great if you're a fan, it really isn't anything new or that hasn't been done in GT7.

It wasn't new in GT7 either. Several sims had already done that.

Was looking at this today. I'm still not sure I understand what Ray racing does. In GT7 replay mode I don't see any difference. I've never really been sold on Forza. Show me that I'm playing a definitively better game and I'll buy it. Otherwise, I'm very much going to stick with GT7. Spring 2023, that's 12 months of updates. I'm very much liking the dualsense and I know it won't have that. Project cars 2 was more the 2017 winner imo. No reason to hype this over project cars 4.
Ray Tracing is still a gimmick IMO. It puts 25-30% more stress on the GPU for more detailed and accurate reflections. GT7 made the right move by only putting it in replays and Scapes. That's when you're going to be able to actually appreciate it for what it is and does. Driving 100+ mph on a race track, you're not going to notice the difference.

There is no "definitively" better game. They are both exclusives to their consoles. Each one does something better than the other.

I agree that PC2 was a fantastic game, but it's no better than GT or FM. Too bad I'll never buy another one after the dumpster fire that PC3 was.

The new forza looks like... well, more forza, same as GT7 is basically more GT.

I think the grand majority of people that have each system will play what's available on it, both will look superb I have no doubt.

As for the thread topic, of course developers look at eachothers work, trailers and announcements won't however bother them half as much as it seems to bother fanboys on the Internet.

I'm excited to be rapidly approaching year number 20 of the Forza franchise still using models from the original Motorsport game.

Gimme those awkward looking R32's(both of them), S15's, and all the dark caverns in the bumper vents from those old cars.

As many others have said, competition is good, and will hopefully spurn both devs to do their best. That said, FM has a long road ahead if it wants to compare to GT7.

I don't like the way it looks at all. It all seems to be passed through a brown/orange filter, the cars all seem to look hazy, not clear and clean, the tires look grey and featureless, the driving (although they showed almost nothing and drove at a sustained speed) looks just as wooden as it has been in the last few titles, the cars all have strange things about them that make them look like they're part of a game instead of mimicking reality. It generally looks like much of the same while they focus their efforts on things most of us here won't care about, like the environment and details that will never be seen. It is steps behind GT visually in just about every way.

Them touting that "damage" model as anything to be proud of is also pretty disappointing. Wavy body lines and scratches? Who cares? It's either realistic damage or nothing, I don't think most anyone cares about anything in between. What they're doing is no better than what we see from GT7.

GT7 has tons of issues still to work out, but the way it looks it eons beyond what FM is presenting here, and GT definitely blurs the line between realism and virtual consistently, whereas I don't think anything from FM will cover that base. Even with the issues that still hinder GT7s physics, my bet is it will still be miles beyond the wooden feeling of this and past FM titles. They seemed to have stopped improving at 4, which is still the pinnacle of the FM franchise, but way off base from a realistic driving experience.

This may sound like GT fanboying, but them's the facts as I see them. I WANT FM to be as good as or better than GT. I poured countless hours into FM4 only to be let down by 5 on everyone's focus turning to the absolute boredom of the disappointing FH series. I WANT more console options for fun driving games, but those that are hedging their bets on FM to spite the stupid things that GT7 presented are going to be let down unless they only care about car count and campaign progression.

Even if Kaz saw this, I doubt he's losing any sleep over FM not holding a candle to GT.

Let's not forget how they even charge for some of them old models, as seen in the Car Pass for both FH4 and 5.
