I've found that the Toyota f-r1 is the best car to use on sport medium tires . You don't have to pit till lap 7 one stop. I won by 15 seconds just taking my time.

The Corvette C6 Zr1 on sport hard tires is one of my favorites for this race, great acceleration and top speed, it also grips very well once the track dries up. You have to be careful at the beginning of the race when the track is wet, take your time at the corners. Only one stop for refueling and a new set of tires around lap 8.

I also did this race with an upgraded Subaru WRX STI (the newer available model), on sport hard tires, to get as much horsepower as I could and stay below 600pp. It was amazing at the corners but not so at the straights. Pretty much the opposite from the Corvette, but the race was very fun. Only one pit stop as well.

Yeah you need a car that dominates on the straight really. However now I've done it IL be trying with different cars and combos just to see what possible. It's all learning new things on this game as the physics are different to get sport.

Tomahawk with the gearbox glitch, RM tyres, take the 1st lap really easy because of the wet track, 2nd lap a little quicker then after the 3rd lap you can drive it as hard as you can for the rest of the race. Fuel map 3 will get you through the whole race without a pit stop & the car is capable of 1:12s to 1:15s laps with no traffic, 1:20s with traffic.
You'll have the whole race done in less than 20 minutes. 😉👍
