So a recent, random search for Gran Turismo 4 on Google Images came up with this:

This appears to be one of Tommi Makinen's rally cars... I know about the Tommi Makinen Edition Lancer, which is a standard road car, but I can't find this one anywhere in any showroom, or prize lists. What happened? Was it axed from the game? Or can you still get it?

Thanks 👍

That's the Evo VII that was featured in GT Concept and several GT4 teasers but never made it to the final game, probably replaced by the Evo VIII Super Rally Car. The only Evo sporting the red colour scheme in the game is the Evo VI Rally Car, the one Mäkinen won his fourth championship with in 1999. There's also the Evo IV Rally car with the number 1, driven by the same man in 1997.

Not as that exact version, it was the Evo VII prototype that looked more or less different with its road spec wheels and somewhat unfinished looking livery.

^^i like this car's looks so much, I sold my Minolta Toyota 88C-V Race Car just to buy it!

my favorite Evo WRC of all time. back in GT3, didn't this car have the word "TOMMI" in the white-coloured portion of the hood? why did it disappear in GT4?

this one's just too good at snow in GT4 IMO.., :D

Being the perfectionist I am I have to inform you that it's not a WRC but a Group A car, the first WRC Evo was the Evo VII which was little more than a total failure. The entire range of Tommi's championship cars were Group A models despite the other teams running WRC's in increasing numbers.

About the hood text, no idea. I'd gladly see it return in GT5 though together with the tarmac wheels instead of the horrific gravel versions.

oh, that's right, it's a Group A car, not WRC.., i forgot, silly me.., :dopey:
