My dad gave me a 1:18 scale model of the XJ220 as a Christmas present like 30 years ago. I still remember unwrapping the gift and thinking it looked weirder than good. I must have been 5 years old and the Ferrari F40 was everything back then. It took me around 20 years to start appreciating the XJ220 design despite glancing at the scale model every so often. I wouldn’t mind seeing it in GT7 soon.
Similar story for me, my dad got me a bluish purple 1:18 XJ220 and my twin brother a green Mclaren F1 maybe 25 or so years ago. Being young I thought the two cars looked the same, so I always had a soft spot for the car my whole life. Saw a real XJ220 this year in the same color as that model I had as a kid, was a good moment.

They didn't; Gremlin made Lotus, Core made Jaguar. They looked very similar (and there were GT/Forza-level debates on whether Jaguar XJ220 or Lotus - by then Lotus 3 - was best) but since Core was made up of ex-Gremlin employees that's probably not an accident...

I think I have an original box for one of the Lotus games around here somewhere (which is a rarity given how many people's Amiga collections were on blue discs with handwritten pen labels)...
Memories! I started my racing career on a game called revs on the BBC micro.

Most of my ps1 games looked like this, huh. EB World had a generous return policy, and as a college student I had a computer that could do the work. I think the program was called “golden hawk” and it worked hard.

As the owner of a Jaguar XFR I DEMAND this car be added to the game immediately.

Hoping it comes this month:bowdown: can't wait to create the LM edition and hopefully the XJ220S if they do the same as with the F40 by including the Competition versions bumpers and spoilers. Would also love for them to do what they did to the Ford sierra by moving the racing exhaust in the same place and style as the racecar, the XJ220C had the exhaust in similar placement to the XJR-9.

My PSN username may give a clue as to my age - next year is a big one and it starts with a 4

I had car posters on my wall when that was released but it didn't make the cut against the F1, EB110, NSX, Cozza, frickin Viper.
Against those contempories, it's truly hideous.
To you truly just say the escort cosworth is good looking but the XJ220 isn't? Im holding in laughter. Literally one of the ugliest sports cars ever, and you think it looks good and even better than the XJ220?

Unless I'm mistaking what you mean by cozza.

Also, the viper was my favorite car as a kid, but better looking than the xj220? No, not even close.

I’m not white knighting, but it’s everyone’s opinion though. Maybe some people don’t like certain eras of super car or certain designs. The X220 have large overhangs, by design of course. Maybe that’s a feature some people feel look out of proportion.

The Cosworth can appeal to people more, due to its proportions. Maybe better looking because it looks tighter, masculine, tougher, than soft and flowing. I don’t know, but people see car designs differently, for whatever reason. Being genuine, they don’t have to feel the same as a majority. Just saying.

As I said, it was 9 year old me who had a Cosworth poster (mainly because there was one in the village and it was so much cooler than all the other cars). I do still like it.

As for the Jag, to me the proportions are wrong, it’s too big, I prefer the F1. A personal opinion, I’m sure we’re still allowed those and don’t have to conform to the hive. I’ll still buy and drive it if it turns up in-game.

The Viper was and still is my dream car. One day it’ll be mine.

It's about time we get the XJ220 in all it's glory. Kaz and his "small indie company" have been getting away with murder for years by using the model they created for GT3 all the way to GT6.

4 freaking games. 2 different consoles. 12 years between it's 1st and last apperance. And the XJ220 isn't the only car that has "suffered" from this.

I say it's time to do it Kaz, give us this big ol' cat already. Show us a little bit of love, your pockets and your bosses pockets are not empty.

XJ220 is too long on too short of a wheelbase. The concept car didn't have that problem, but when they ditched the V12 they (for whatever reason) decided to shorten the wheelbase primarily by moving the front wheels back and in the process disrupting the flowing line from the front end through the windscreen.

I really don’t see much of a difference between the concept and the production version. Can you give some specs like the length difference? Would be interested, thought the only real difference was the engine
