top gear Z06

Mr. Boy
OMFG! IT'S FASTER THAN AN F430!

I wish BBC World would start showing the new series of Top Gear.

Erm...the Stig laptimes are fairly imprecise, so a difference of .5 seconds isn't that much of a victory. It's safe to say that they perform about the same, IMO. ;)

I wonder if YSSMAN bumped into this video yet -- I'm sure he'd love to see it.

stop defending the 430... it costs way more than the z06 and it has way more gizmos in it lol... no excuses for being that much slower. a half a second is almost a whole lifetime in motorsport

If I remember the Ferrari review, they said it'd be quicker on the optional Pirellis than the standard Bridgestones - quicker than the outgoing 360 Challenge Stradale. Though that's just an aside.

The overriding thing from the TG review was that it's a staggeringly fast car on the track, but on the UK's roads it's appalling.

And it's true that cars within 0.5s of each other, when driven several days/months/years apart by different drivers, can be classed as "roughly the same" in terms of performance.

Though I'm now going to be accused of anti-American/Chevrolet/Z06 bias for daring to suggest... something.

It's just a question of here the steering wheel is on the wrong side, surely they can convert it in one of thier factories to rhd and secondly although I can't comment from experience,

Unless the car was designed to be built for both LHD and RHD markets from scratch its a major issue in terms of design and cost.

While you may find companies who will offer such services, the quality of the work is not something I would want to put my own life in the hands of. The end result is rarely good, witness the number of Lanica Deltas that have been effectively destroyed by right-hand drive conversions.

Unfortunatly its a non-starter.

BTW - for what its worth I'm another Brit who happens to think the Z06 is an amazing car, just not suited to most of our public roads. However if anyone happends to want to give me one I'm quite sure I'd manage (or die trying and very happy).

I can comment on conversions from experience... unless the car was available in both RHD and LHD, or has a platform mate that IS available in both orientations, the process is messy and quite unsafe.

Skyline conversions are possible because of the availability of other Nissan models in LHD, by the way, but most conversions (not the Motorex one, mind you) are sloppy, look bad, and kind of ruin the look of the car.
