Please ensure that you include you name in the subject line so I know who it is from.
Please note, when sending replays, please ensure you follow these steps...
1. Copy the replay from your PS3 to a USB device
2. Zip the replay folder (not the just the files inside), leaving the original folder name intact
3. Email it to tosk@swiftdsl.com.au

DRIVING RULES
- All races must be 100% wall free.
- 2 wheels must be on the track at ALL times (Ripple/Rumble strips are part of the track).
- No AI contact is allowed.
Only sector 2 times are to be discussed during a race.

I sure will give this one a try. Suzuka is great, and I love the combo's of a slow car in a multilapper with some AI in it.

OldTimer - Sorry mate, yes the Daihatsu!! lol

vr4_fan - Wayne is right any AI contact is not allowed, that's the challenge!

Wayne - You need to find another group mate, I am normally in 2nd after the hairpin & a lap and a half AI free.

Prancing Horse - I love Suzuka, but not in a shopping trolley! Never mind PH, we all need to shop sometimes ;)

Wayne - Biggest draft for me is at the start, beeting that car infront of me to the first corner makes a big difference.

Bigracer - Glad you like it mate, I am enjoying this one too.

RacingFreak2k3 - These type of races are deceptive, you think you have a good time until you see another T2! lol


I ran some laps yersterday, and took me a while to find my way around the AI, but after I did, the times tumbled down, sometimes by almost 0.2 of a second! lol
 
Ran a few laps Friday night and really didin't like this one - the 'shopping trolleys' of GT have never really been my thing. But tried again yesterday afternoon and at least started to get a bit quicker.

This one's all about maintaining momentum.... AI line up has a huge impact on times, and there are one or two driving techniques that can cut chunks out of the times too.

I suspect the gap between fast and slow on this one will be pretty big!
 
Stotty - I think you will be right there, the gap between top & bottom WILL be huge.

I just hope it's not that big that I eng up under it!!
 
No one's posted a T2 yet? I guess I'll have to write down my crappy splits so everyone can feel better. :D

Also, are we allowed to discuss the line ups during the event? I can't believe the difference the lineup makes this time around. I set my best against one lineup and I haven't seen it again. What really sucks is that I found some more time on the track but I can't get back to the "fast" lineup for me. :banghead:

Second question, does our finishing position matter or just the overall time?
 
Here's my splits so far --> 2'22 and 2'12

I've done better in spurts but never stringing it all together or without some idiot AI driver running into me.

As far as lineups go, is everyone doing better running by themselves or running in the pack and using the draft?
 
I have a clean run 'in the bank' with T2's of 2'18 and a 2'08 (10th's seem a bit irrelevent in this one!) and it's pretty much 'draft free'. If I could get my warm up session AI line up back I think I could knock a quite a bit of time off that as I was getting a perfect tow all the way up the back straight on lap 1.
 
Just done my race now, took 2 hours to get 2'18.6 and 2'11.9 came 2nd in the race but I'm happy with my time :)

For the much I have seen, I would say you can't perform in this combo without draft !!! 👍

Whoooooo Kelly, I'm really impressed by your T2's... I am really far from your time
 
AERO - You sound like me, leaving it till the last possible minute to do a good run! lol

Suede53 - Yes, you can talk about line ups, even racing tips (if you have any), just no times other than T2's. As for your finishing place, it doesn't matter, just the race time

Stotty - impressive T2's, wonder where I'm going wrong...

I'm with Tosk, you guys have great splits and I can't figure out where I'm going wrong. I'm flogging the OFC for all it's worth and I can't seem to get anymore out of it. I've gotten close to some of the splits on occasion but not without a lot of draft and it usually gets ruined by the AI. I must be scrubbing all kinds of speed somewhere.

I'm getting really frustrated with the lineups on this one too, I think I've seen them repeat 2-3 times except for the one like Stotty mentioned were I got a great draft down the back straight.

Both otherwise impossible to do a 2.18 & 2.08 without drafting other cars

T2's without draft might be around 2.22 & 2.12 for what i have noticed ;)
 
I haven't raced this since it was posted as I've been mega busy elsewhere!

I know my best save has 2'18.1 / 2'10.4 and I had passed all the AI by the first corner of Degner on lap 1 and they never got close to me after that! ... That 2'08 T2 lap 2 by Stotty is damn impressive and if it was due to draft then I will have to get some last minute runs in tonight an try the race staying behind the AI instead of ahead of them ??

Hmmm... now I'm a bit worried I may have done something wrong, like written the wrong split down or driven the wrong car!! It's not like me to be out in front.

Only decent draft I have on my saved run is down to turn 1 on the first lap. I pass all except the front runner by Dunlop, then catch the lead car (IIRC) between Degner and the hairpin on lap 2. Lead from there until the finish.

I'll check my replay tonight!
 
With the AI I have at the moment I can draft on 1st straight the be 3rd after esse's then draft again after hairpin (alfa147) then again on the straight before 130r (I have just done a 2.17 T2 firstlap)
main problem is that this bl**dy 147 stops at the chicane....... so crash...
so doing a 2.18 then not passing the alfa at the chicane gives me again draft on the starting straight the I pass her and finish 2nd without seieing the 1st car and without draft on 2nd lap around 2.10 for 2nd T2 ;)


Edit : Did my last attempt a minute ago and found a 2.17 + 2.11 couldn't do better without draft on 2nd lap Will submit this time

heh, my bad... just checked my replay and lap 2 T2 is a 2'10. So not God like driving talent afterall.
 
Well, I finally managed to put together a 2'19 and a 2'12 (with the draft). I know I'm still leaving some tenths here and there but I'm tired of chasing them. Seems no matter what I tried, I couldn't break the 2'12 barrier on the second lap. So it'll have to do for now. :cheers:

Godson - You better get moving son, less than 24 hours to go now.

Well I have managed to bank a clean race, will give it 1 more session just efore deadline & hope to improve RT.
 
Submitted my time and replay last night.

I had one that was a second faster than my submitted one, but I was too close to the inside of the chicane, so didn't submit it. The one I submitted was pretty close too (on the first lap), but I think it'll be legal. :scared:
