three minutes to see if I'm going to the discotheque.

Edit: Didn't get disco'd. Was going to try 1H/5M. Went 3H/7M/6S. Thing is, I had the TCS visible. I didn't switch to fuel load all race. When the fuel tankk icon appeared during the pit stop, it read "0". As I'm pulling away, I thought I had no fuel. Looked down and had to switch to fuel remaining. I had 4.2 with 5 laps to go. Dang!

Switched to fuel 2 just as Redneckchef was exiting the pits. I gave in and pulled in again to overfill. Passed a player, again, that clashed with me at the start. Came up behind housej and held station until the finish.

Wanted to get a race in, just in case there's a special prize for participating.

Got grouped in with @05XR8, @LeGeNd-1 and @housej

Had a solid qualifying lap, but annoyed as the last half I was iffy qhole following another car. No big deal. Door 11, Q8.

Make a great start and enter turn 1 into p5, get a 1 second penalty for the ping ping business that happens there. Get savagely dived into the hairpin and then again into spoon. Those penalty flags are like blood in the water to sharks. Drop back to p12. Do ok and gradually work my way back to p8. Then while right on the rear wing of p7 I simply drift a shade wide in turn 1 and lose over 3 seconds. Annoying but oh well. Then run mostly clean fast laps and gain on the guys ahead until lap 11 when I decide to pit, but as I'm finishing the lap my nemesis of Spoon bites me. Just barely touch the outer edge and get sucked wide. By the time I can get my car to slow and turn it decides to spin across the track. I lose massive amounts of time.

Pit and take hards and cruise uneventfully to the end. My 2 problems were my own doing so no big deal, but people at the start were just a bit psycho.
And I didnt have space to save the replay, so if anyone in there has it could you share it?

Good luck everyone. No real surprises in this one as it is battling the track as much as anything.

A race to forget for me.

Grouped with @FastOldHippy, Q12, made it as high as 5th in the opening lap carnage, ran a solid 6th for most of the early stint, until running wide at T1 twice and then again just before the bridge. Finished P11 after driving past @FastOldHippy up the back straight on the final lap.

Ye, not exactly memorable. I made Q6 but I ran the hards first stint for 4 laps. Should have done 6 because softs were getting a bit skaty after 10 laps or so. I was holding my own in the mid-pack , letting faster chaps through until I was taken out, twice, by a rude wanchor with no sense of racecraft. @Raptor013 finally caught up with me and passed, only because I had no boost left. Oh well, I've said it before, I may have had a crap race but at least me and my car looked good. :P

Lots of familiar names from GTP in the race so good to see. Pretty happy with my race considering I only did 2 laps of practice.

Quali 6th with a scruffy lap, and was up to 2nd by the first corner. How? The pole sitter got a false start, 2 guys on RH turned their TC off too early (nooo Spacedust :P), and one other guy forgot the overtake button on the run down to T1. I couldn't believe my luck :D

Followed Mistah MCA's guide and went with 12S/4H as from experience the overcut is pretty powerful at Suzuka. It's always very hard to overtake here and with high downforce cars if you run too close to the car in front you just destroy your tyres prematurely, so I purposefully gapped myself to save tyres. Dropped to 3rd because of this, but I knew I could get him later in the pits. First place guy is just too quick all race so 2nd is pretty much the maximum for me here.

2000GT race next. The one I'm most looking forward to. Low grip tyres + Nurb is my specialty :mischievous:

Same here, the 2000GT feels really balanced in this combo. I'm not expecting to do well in today's race. I primarily drive GR3 and GR4 cars and I find myself driving the SF19 like I drive a GR3 car. I'm way off pace, my strat will depend on my starting position and how much I improve before tonights race.

I only realised I had Hards for my quali run as I was exiting Dunlop on my hotlap. I panicked, and instead of trying to salvage a lap, I retreated to the pits to switch to Softs, and ran out of time on my outlap just as I passed the pit limiter line, so I had to start from the back. I started on Hards, and climbed up to 13th by the end of the first lap thanks to the chaos ahead of me, such as a guy stalling (or more likely getting a jump start penalty) and catching out 2 others, helping me up to 17th before I had even reached the end of the pit lane. Of course, I had to make things harder for myself on lap 5, when I committed too late to a pitstop as the duo ahead of me continued on. I couldn't have had a better aim for the grassy divider if I tried, and I wasted maybe 5 seconds getting into the pit lane properly. I took on Softs and no fuel, and emerged 17th and nearly 50 seconds off the lead, only ahead of a Hungarian who decided to pit for Mediums.

Thankfully, my strategy paid off, as I was able to pick off people ahead with ease. I'm pretty sure I caught someone on worn Hards at the end of the Esses, as I was able to go around his outside in the transition between the Esses and Dunlop. I ended up 5th, just a second behind a Portuguese driver who had to dive into the pits on L14 after nearly running out of fuel, and 20 seconds off the winner. I was able to match his pace early on in my stint, so it is tempting to think of what might have been had I been able to set a time in quali, but on the other hand I could've been caught up in some chaos, so I won't dwell on it too much.

Lost some time on my flyer in Qualifying by sliding on the exit of the chicane. But a really solid P5.

Race was tough. A bunch of really good guys racing hard lap after lap. Started by running wide and essentially took the runoff through the T1-2 on lap 1. But thankfully a lot of people had bad starts (when I went off I was P2). So ran about P2-P5 all race. Found myself in 3rd after the guy ahead had his 2nd one second penalty. But he hounded me down like he did earlier in the race. But this time was after the stop and he was struggling with the hards and ran off in T1 guaranteeing myself the final step of the podium.

Race Report. 2100 Americas. C/S Lobby. (Forgot to save the bloody replay, so no pretty pictures of my Calvin and Hobbes livery)

Door 13, Qualified 4th, had a legit shot at the pole until i came across slower traffic on my 2nd lap.

First lap, first corner, I get a good start, pull into 3rd. P2 & P1 go wide. I take the lead and my pulse shoots up to OMG territory. I get a 4s lead and kinda get a little squirley coming out of Dunlop but hold the lead.

Flash forward to lap 6ish..... Me and P2 have a COMMANDING lead on the entire field. Its not close and its not funny. Again, I get squirley coming out of spoon, he closes the gap and i'm just hoping the overtake button gets me enough speed to get to 130R. Somehow, It works.

I pull away to about a 3s lead when on lap 10, P2 goes for tires. I put the hammer down and roll the dice. I have a 23s lead but he's somehow making those hard tires sing. Lap 11, I'm looking at the scoring chart and go wide through Dunlop and spin. Lost 8 seconds. Kept pushing but he cut my lead to 5s, i waved the white flag and came in for tires on Lap 13.

I come out of the pits, I'm 20s back from the lead, I'm 20s ahead of P3. This is over and I'm content with 2nd. I notice that the leader is pushing 2s faster than my best on softs.... and as I come through the Casio Triangle, I'm wondering..... how did he go so fast on softs? He changed tires, right? He had to have.

I cross the line and it bumps me to first. He never ran the hards.

I'll take the W.

Fun at last in GT Sport! Clean, hard fought racing at Suzuka in the Roland Ratzenberger Ford/Toyota.

Lined up 8th after a conservative qualy, not much carnage at T1 but came through in 6th. Settled into a race-long battle, making a few passes along the way to find myself running a comfortable 4th. Back and forth until the leader eventually crashed promoting the field one place. Made the obligatory pit stop on lap 10 but couldn't hold on to the podium spot as I was run down and passed on the OUTSIDE at the hairpin on the last lap. Great pass by my opponent, really fun stuff.

Finished 4th, decent points for a low A dude like me. More importantly, fun and clean racing for a change. Gained around 800DR up to ~33K

NA Slot 1, mixed A/S and B/S Lobby, 146 points, Door #13

Was joined in the lobby with @afc5150. Qualified P2.

Race start was nice and orderly. I took P1 at the hairpin on the first lap and held on to it until going into the pits on lap 10, with P2 not too far behind. However, I made a slight error in judgement and refueled a bit when I didn't have to and came out in 2nd as a result, directly behind 1st. I stick with them until we reach the end of the lap, when they suddenly lose control and go off track at the final corner. I'm back in 1st and it was all smooth sailing from there.

Slot 1, Door #12, Q'd 15th, Finished 12th. 79 pts, lost 359 DR.
Was in with AFC-R6N, I recognized the name, didn't say HI as I thought I knew you from practice lobbies, my apologies.
Also was in with TPC_ProcyonLotor whom I've never seen before, Congrats on your victory.
I started on hards and fell to last by turn 1. Made a few positions with people having offs. Pitted lap 6 for softs and came out in last again. Had a relatively lonely run making 1 pass and gaining the rest of my positions from offs and penalties. My result was expected as I didn't think I had a chance for anything better. Looking forward to the next race, probably won't do well there either but I expect it to be a fun race.

How does a person "Tag" another in the forums, I'm an old fart and is basicly computer illiterate and learning.

@mobilmasher hey man, sorry I didn't say hi last night as I didn't see your name in the lobby until it was too late. I was also trying to figure out who @TPC_ProcyonLotor was. As for the tagging, I type the '@' then start typing your name until it appears and I can just click on you to tag you.

Hope to see you out there again soon!

Had a great race yesterday. Qualified 4th, had a better start than 3rd so went up a place by the first corner and 2nd over cooked it so I was soon behind the leader, however they were a full second faster in quali so I was just hoping for a podium finish.

At the end of lap 6 or 7 with a good 5-10 second lead the car in First appeared to go off, but they suddenly appeared on the track jumping about ahead, and then disappearing altogether. They had succumbed to the dreaded lag and been disconnected which is a shame as it was their race to win.

As I pushed the Softs for as long as I could I was in 1st when I pitted at the end of Lap 9. I lost a few places but was soon back in 3rd while the top 2 drivers were slowing each other down. I made a stupid mistake going wide on the long right hander after the hairpin so lost time but then one of the cars in front lost out at the Casio Triangle on Lap 13. I arrived too late to see what happened as I was 5 seconds back so not sure who was at fault but there was a new race leader and I was in 2nd. The leader had better pace than me on my Hard tyres but as soon as I crossed the line I got 1st as it turns out the guy I couldn't catch was on 2 sets of Softs and hadn't touched the hard tyres at all which earned them a 1 minute penalty. Sweet! I had not expected a win, and especially not from the Gazoo cup. Still only my 29th career win in all the years playing this game, so the sweet taste of victory is always appreciated.
