major regulation overhaul
So what you're saying is that I'm right, one car was slower than the other. The car regulations don't change the fact that one was slower than the other, they define it.

No. They only run Le Mans once together, 2011, and the R18 was faster then both the 2010 (Oreca entry) and 2011 versions.

You can't compare, but IF you compare, it is correct, is it ... ?
No, it's wrong.
Le Mans 2011
Audi R18: 3:25.738
Peugeot 908: 3.26.010
Peugeot 908 2010 model: 3:30.084
Only time they shared the track, Audi was faster.

Because of their intended purpose. Everything from the Sauber C11 to the TS050 were prototypes. But the CLK LM and F1 GTR were both homologated sports cars. The LMH category was intended to be homologated but that reg was gotten rid of at some point.

But if we're going by lap time, the TS050 was a whole ten seconds faster than the GR010. The 2011 R18 was a dog - diesel, non-hybrid, rwd, six seconds slower than the Peugeot 908. It ran a 3:25 compared to the Peugeot's 3:19 and the TS050's 3:17.
These are the real laptimes for various Gr.1 & Gr.2 cars. As you can see the GR010 clearly should be in Gr.1.

Year to year there can also be significant pace differences with, essentially, the same car. In ‘16 (the car in GT7) the TS050’s quickest lap was 3.20. In 2017 the lap record time was 3.14. In ‘99 the GT-ONE was 5 seconds quicker than the previous years car. Time gained through tyre development and more track time.

As Hypercar entries hit the track from the likes of Peugeot, Porsche, Ferrari, Cadillac, Alpine. You will also see times decrease as competition increases. Even with it being a BoP class, like GT500, GTE, GT3.

What this does show is how easy it is to manipulate pace with BoP.

The big V12 engined ‘10 908 was capable of lapping in 3.19. But in ‘11 BoP brought it down to 3.30. Behind the smaller V8 engined 908.
