Toyota Returns to the Forza Horizon Series Next Month

I know that some don't like DeBerti's custom rides, but DeBerti might have confirmed on his Instagram account his Toyota Tacoma DeBerti Design (Pikes Peak Race Truck) will appear in Forza Horizon 4 sometime in 2020. He posted this about two weeks before Toyota's return announcement.

The is fantastic news and plays into the whole "Year 2" mention in the FH4 Year 1 Recap video.

"It's been an amazing first year for Forza Horizon 4, from a grand E3 announcement to a spectacular launch event at Goodwood, followed by tons of seasonal content and incredible experiences. Enjoy the look back and get excited for Year 2!"

I hope this leads to another expansion since there is no way either Motorsport 8 or Horizon 5 will be ready for next-gen until 2021 perhaps.

My guess is GT had a 2 year deal which lasted until October obviously. One month of negotiating is about nowish, and another month of building hype and here we are.
Hopefully! Either that, or Turn 10 could have paid through the nose for another sub-licence deal, similar to what what they did with Porsche a few years back when EA had the rights. Meanwhile, EA haven’t heard a peep from Toyota, so it’s still up in the air.

To be fair, Toyota is nearly a month a way from appearing in Forza so maybe EA want to announce Toyota's return closer to the time the exclusivity deal runs out.

EDIT: Also...

When jdm fans said that toyota will be missed they are actually right. Even when playing nfs heat and forza 7 it really feels empty without Toyota.

Knew that their cryptic 5 tweet response to the deleted original response to the fan question meant something, specifically the last tweet! Great news, hoping this means all the Forza Motorsport 4 Toyota's return woop! Need for speed will be next to feature them too, surely.

As mentioned in Forza Monthly, the 1998 Toyota Supra will be arriving on December 12th with the Series 17 update. That's interesting:

November 21 = Series 16 Summer - Ferrari 488 Pista
November 28 = Series 16 Autumn - Ferrari 512 S
December 5 = Series 16 Winter - ATS GT
December 12 = Series 16 Spring - Lamborghini Diablo GTR (Series 17 update Toyota Supra clash)

This suggests that Toyota / Lexus cars will be distributed in a different way than the usual series-scheduled Festival Playlist. Maybe the cars will be distributed on a daily basis throughout December? The number of potential cars (known Xbox One models) would more or less add up to an end of holidays finale if they celebrated the return in true December style, starting on day 12.

1969 Toyota 2000GT
1974 Toyota Celica GT
1974 Toyota Corolla SR5
1979 Toyota FJ40

Wasn't there something that said they're being added to the autoshow?

I just hope it's implemented better than Mitsubishi's return; "here's 7 cars for free and we'll add absolutely nothing else afterwards". There's some pretty good stuff in Toyota's catalog that would be welcomed.

We can't forget the 360 era cars either, since T10/PG have been re-inserting a lot of them in recent years/months. I could see these potentially making a return eventually:

1984 Celica Supra
2002 MR-S
2004 Altezza/IS300
2002 Soarer/SC430 (meh?)
2012 FJ Cruiser

I doubt stuff like the Prius/Aygo/Yaris will or should come back, given they're generations old by now and pretty irrelevant.

I am going to take a guess and say we are going to see a small number of the most "mainstream" Toyotas and Lexuses return through the Autoshow, while some returning (like the 2000GT, the LFA) and possible new (Tacoma DeBerti, Supra A90, Sports 800) cars will be distributed through the Weekly Playlists, maybe starting from Series 17.

I'll drive the Supra for a while then drop it for something more interesting/better like an LF-A, 2000GT or...

An NSX! :D

I think this deal is recent, which is why only the Supra will be ready for December. Also why NFS doesn't have the cars yet. So expect the cars to come slowly.

Will Playground be brave enough to introduce them via Playlist? Hmmm...
