I think toyota will be good this year after what turned up in the free runs. Mika Salo as we know is a good driver, and AM we'll see. And another point Toyota is a company that puts all into it, so I dont think they came to F1 to just be another filler team.

the cars this year look better in motion than they do in pictures, the toyota definitely does.

That's true - I thought they looked like a giant lolly, but they look a lot better rolling. I remember Alan Jones once making the comment that you can't go far wrong painting a race car red and white.

Why isn't Michael Schumacher on your list? :D

Whatever, lol, I'm not a big fan of him either, but you can't do all that he's done on luck. Do you ACTUALLY think that the winningest driver in the history of Formula 1 is only there because he's lucky?

And who's your favorite driver, that's driving now.

My favorite now is JPM and JV, Look you cant tell me that if JV stayed with williams MS would have done anything. I think things would have been very different.

They might have been, but you still have to admit that Michael Schumacher is at least pretty freakin good to be where he is.

Well - that's like arguing if Alesi had gone to Williams instead of Ferrari - he could potentially have won 3 or 4 championships. Could haves and should have are worth nothing.

I doubt it would have been any different. The Williams was too compromised a car (particularly with Michelin in its debut year) last year to be a consistent winner in anyone's hands, even JV's.

MS is one of the greats - if it just wasn't for that taint from '94 - I know I should move on, but...

He's great on the roads, too, have you seen the passes he puts on people? and how he didn't crash in last weekends wreck, that wasn't luck it's because he had quick reactions and smart thinking so he steered wide and went into the grass to avoid it. Then the pass he did on Montoya, and the 30 second lead(or however much) he had at the end of the race. You don't just get lucky with these things, he wasn't lucky on every corner of the track over and over and over.

Oh look, I agree - and this part of the reason I think top level endurance racing is very good for grand prix drivers, because they learn about preserving the car and driving smart - and if you recall correctly Schumacher first came to promenence in the heady Group C days with Mercedes Benz.

He is an exceptionally cool and crafty driver, and extremely good at applying pressure everywhere - he was the first driver to really push hard on in-laps, and you'll regularly see him push hard on the pit-entrance lane, locking up on the entrance of the pits. If you're up against him you can't afford to relax at any time.

He is the class of the field, has been for some time, and probably will be for a couple of years yet. Montoya's starting to take the big step this year and I think will begin to overshadow Ralf in races - maybe not qualifying.

I don't pretend that my dislike of him is rational - as I said, the blatant cheating at Benetton should have seen them thrown out of the championship in '94, and if that had happened they would never have got the Renault contract that made them so dominant in '95 - so I tend to discount his first two world titles.

Ok guys I dont think that pass on montoya was so spectaular, JPM just went in wide because he thought MS would take the same line but he tricked him and got on the gas earlier, and took the position that was text book move not spectaular, now montoya passing MS in Brazil last year now that was spectaular. And Ill say this much Ill stop bashing MS, there are 2 kinds of great drivers the opportunist and the hunter, Montoya is a shark a hunter he goes and gets is meal, MS is a hyena he gets what he can on they way.

Montoya trys to pass when he really shouldn't I think. I mean, close passes are fine, but when you're pushing the other guy off the road(like the 2 "spectacular" passes Montoya has done) it's not good at all. Montoya is just a bone head, that's why he makes the moves he does. Anyone else in the field could push MS off(if they had a car that could keep up with him) and pass him.

Montoya is a very good driver I havnt seen him cause any accidents or try to pass when there wasnt room, he is an aggressive driver thats it.

Actually, that's true - for all the talk of aggressiveness, I don't think he was involved in any race-ending incidents with other cars last year, other than getting rear-ended at Brazil?

I know he had a couple of spins, but I don't recall any other incidents.

Well to tell you the truth I didnt see that so I cant comment I guess, but as far ive seen of montoya he's as clean as they come and everyone makes mistakes, even Schumacher, and I bet he has alot more errors on his record.

the team is great however it is its first year so I give full linency in its newbie attempts to get some where plus I think that next year its gonna be a lot better for the toyota team
