Basically the same deal as DGIANT2000's nurburgring lap times but with different tracks.
I thought i would do this as i am one of thoses pepole that love a position to fight for and since i bought the game i have mostly played on the nurburgring.
And i am bored stiff beating my own times and my friends are still learning so there no good so thought i would have a crack at trying to beat times on other tracks.

The tracks are as follows
Spa GP.
Laguna seca.
London river.
Brands hatch GP.

No rules bar being honest.
no restrictions.
And could people post the car, car rating, and assists used please.
Ok people lets see some times.

I've recently become an addict and about to drive my wife crazy:crazy: At this time I use the Dual shock with automatic transmission. I would love to get in to a competition league but I would only want to get in if I was competitive enough to hang with you boyz. I should get a little bit quicker this week after discovering I can turn off brake assist which has always drove me crazy on tracks like SPA & Road America. All of my times are Unlimited since I can't remember the 10's & 14's

SPA 2:12
Road America 1:56
Brands Hatch GP 1:21
Laguna Seca 1:21
Silverstone GP 1:41
London River 1:14

What car you driving? That RA time is damn quick. I love that track and currently practicing with some new setups.

I didn't even think to take off ABS, I've had some time to do a little internet research this week since I'm on vacation and thanks to this site I discovered if you take off the brake assist it will stop the early braking after a long straightaway. can't wait to get back saturday and do a little experamenting...

RA is probably my best track and I use Lamborghini Murciélago, I like the Pagani a lot better for most tracks but the 640 works better for me on RA. The one thing I do know is this game will humble you pretty quick once you come across those "Exceptional Racers". I've had some great online battles on Road America and I've seen some racers in the 1:54 range. The tune I used for RA is the tune Terronium-12 provided...

Here is a video of the skill & time I eventually want to get to, but it will involve going to manual transmission and forking over three or four hundred bones for a good G27 set up :ouch:

Road America - 1:57.029 - Lambo 640 Works on Keyboard. I can get it to 1:56 with some practice as this car is new to me. Its an animal but squirly on a keyboard.

My favorite tracks list changes. Mostly due to car differences. Autopolis, SilverstoneGP, Brands Hatch GP, SPA I really like but I think RA will not move from the top of the list. If I would invest in a G27 setup as well I could control these animals better as the keyboard really limits you but its a helluva lot of fun. This new 640 I built today is pretty good. I started with T's setup but its pretty tail happy. I have watched a number of other videos of other drivers and all my cars seem to have a ton of oversteer driving with rear wheels but I think that really just a varible of using the keyboard. My GTR does the same thing but it seems to be more stable than the 640 but not near as fast...lol.

Whoever was driving in that video was working it man. Very smooth. Far better than I could do with these keys. I drive with auto trans as well and yes, the manual certianly provides far more corner control and use of the R's than with the auto. No question, the break assist is a joke and very annoying.

Just doing some worm up before competition, adjusting the my own setups :)

SPA car rating 10

Why is no one posting on this thread, I need to see where I need to get to. I think I can shave a little more off my times but I also think I need to go to manuel and purchuse a G27 to get to the next level...

Is that your lap time of spa and if so do you really want me to post it 6.26.650 is a bad time, was that time for multiple laps ?.

I think its a typo, the screen says 2'26.650 which is far more respectable

How on earth this could be a bad time ?? :scared: I did if before our meeting in on line race. Car rating is 10 the car i Aston Martin V8 Vantage so who's done faster then 2:26:650 in car with limitation to 10

Or maybe explain the rules of this thread because i might be a little confused :guilty:

Oh wow i did a typo :/ mi mistake not 6 minutes but 2, and yes it's kind a quick lap, done in time trial as an second lap, for firs i did have such like 2:27:xxx and then when speed is faster i manage 2:26:650 squeeze out of Aston

Forget about it, the pic wasnt loading up so all i could see was the 6 mins time.

if i may, a little tip regarding LP640.
when cornering in 2nd gear, feathering the throttle will usually keep back end from sliding out.

I'll start putting my times up here, just to give you a benchmark if it'll help you out. :)

I use manual shifting on some tracks and with certain cars, but I can tell you it isn't the most critical thing for fast laps.

The line you take through each corner will have a much greater effect on your times than the manual or automatic transmission. Once you learn the best/fastest line to take on a particular track and can do it from memory, then would be the time to see if shifting yourself can lower your lap time.

Speaking for myself (and I drive a manual 6 speed in real-life), I find that I can focus much better and more consistently on a good racing line when I let the car do the shifting.

Because when using a manual unless you're really good, or have a lot of time to practice, chances are much greater that you'll shift into the wrong gear, hit the rev limiter, or forget to downshift so that even if you drove a good lap, your time will suffer.

In some of the Tier 1 & 2 cars driving the manual tranny can really help your times, because you have a slower rev'ing engine and more time to think about the shift. Once you get up into the supercar levels shifting quickly and accurately while still focusing on the racing line is very hard.

Just my humble opinion... :D

I'm in 2 minds about this, the AT helps in giving you less to think about but I find after a long time on GT4 and GT5P with MT that the lack of engine braking really hinders you. I would say MT is quicker overall, but does take a degree of getting used to. Once you have nailed the racing line I would try using it, but for race setup cars (like the Zonda F) I would certainly recommend sticking to the paddle shifter. It is one more thing to think about but, like losing TCS and ABS, is ultimately quicker when mastered.

Just my 2 pence(cents) worth

Andy

I always say it is best to learn from scratch with all assists off and MT with automatic clutch off then you really don't know any different.
I haven't played with the assists on yet nor with AT.

I may give a lap of the nurburgring a go with all assists on and AT and see how much easyer it is.
