Trident Clipper V8 1966

The Trident Clipper V8 was originally intended to be TVR's range topper and be called the TVR Trident and was featured in early TVR brochures and adverts. At the time TVR's range consisted of the Grantura 1800S and the 289 Ford V8 powered Griffith. The TVR Trident was also powered by the Ford 289. The elegant body was styled by ace designer Trevor Fiore (who was later Director of Design for Citroen).

TVR's financial troubles led to the Trident project being separated and a new company being set up by TVR dealer Bill Last to produce the cars.

Performance was blisteringly quick for the time with 0-60mph in 5 seconds and 150mph. A Clipper V6 using the Ford Essex engine was also released, but lacked the performance of the V8 model. Later cars were modified to meet US safety regulations and like contemporary MG's the looks were sadly spoilt.

Interior (currently under restoration).

A rare high performance classic car from the 1960's which I would love to race against contemporary cars from Ferrari, Jaguar (Premium E Type) and Aston Martin (DB5 or 6 please).

Thanks Dr P. Four cars were built by TVR between 1964 and 1966 before the Trident company was established and production passed to them, three were Coupes and one was a roadster, which I think is so stunning it deserves some pictures.
