Hi
I am new to triple screen setup for sim racing. I have read some threads and 24"/27" are recommended. But I am abit greedy and want to have a triple 32". The problem I can't determine the difference between using a 32" LED TV and a 32" LED Monitor. I have 3 choices currently and it's the samsung UE32F5000 or the LG 32LN540V. Moreover are there any difference between tv and monitor apart from no DVI connection for Tv?

Thanks

Tv's usually have a higher response time compared to monitors, Personally of the two that you have there, I would choose the LG

Shaun, Higher response time is slower response time... for example a 8ms response time would cause more lag than a 2ms response time.

Does that mean TV is not as good as monitors?
I am also using the AMD 7970 HD 3GB GC but how could i connect 3 HDTV w/o DVI ports?
as i know the 7970 supports up to 6 screens but there is only 1 hdmi output

That's correct, TV's are "generally" not as good as monitors. Not sure we could say it's impossible to find a TV that's better than a monitor, but generally, monitors are better.

As far as hooking monitors or TV's up to your GPU, we just need to know what inputs the monitor you choose has, and what outputs your GPU has.

DVI cables do not carry audio, HDMI does (but is usually my last choice), Display Ports also carry audio. Not important for everyones application, very important if you are using a TV or monitor where you plan on using it's speakers or headphone jack. Which most gamers just don't do.

I am not sure about the gpu but im sure someone here owns an AMD Radeon 7970 as thats the card i would like to get. Going back to display if i dont use TV what monitors are suitable? I am looking for 32" in size

The sony one looks really good. But i still havent got the problem solve yet and its how can i connect 3 TV straight from the 7970?

If u will go triple tv way u might want to consider sony KDL32W653 its got lowest input lag out of all tv's

You must use one of these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Accell-B086...400?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51b068a2c0

Connect your screens as follows:

1 - mDP to HDMI (with the above adapter)
2 - DVI to HDMI
3 - DVI to HDMI

DVI to HDMI cable:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-HDTV-HD...=US_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item5aeb1c6d04

get two.

There is much information on setting up three screens out there. Start with AMD's site on setting up eyefinity. Then get those items up there ^ and use them to set up your hardware. From there lookup setting up display groups. It's not too hard.

I run triple 55" Sony HDTV's, the input lag is minimal. I also have triple 24" Samsung monitors, they both have the same resolution, 1920 x 1080, so the monitors look a little better. With the lag time there is no discernible difference. I use 2 GTX-670's in SLI mode, it's been bulletproof for me.

You should be able to use the card's hdmi port, and then you would only have to buy the adapters for the one dvi and the mini displayport. Then you would be able to run the audio off of the tv that is hooked up to the HDMI port. A passive Mini DP adapter will work fine for 1080p at 60hz, however if you want to use a higher refresh rate you will need an active adapter.

so actuall the sony tv doesnt make much difference from the monitors?

A monitor will out preform a TV, a monitor is smaller and with a HDTV they usually have the same resolution, 1920 x 1080. So the smaller monitor will look better. However for a racing sim, my personal feeling is bigger is better. With my triple 55" HDTV's I am close to life size. This is something that a 24" or 27" monitor can not capture. I have my TV's at approximately 80°, so they envelope my rig. It is very life like, very immersive.

A TV makes a horrible PC screen. They are generally limited to a resolution of 1080P, whereas a 32" monitor will run much higher for the same screen size. 2560 x 1600 for the monitor, 1920 x 1080 for the TV. You will end up with a big fuzzy nasty mess in your face and you won't be able to read most text.

This is the real reason to get a monitor.

I have no problem reading text with my 32" lcd, and the image looks very nice, and bigger is better with racing sims. I setup a 27" screen for comparison and the screen just felt small.

I also have no input lag problems, but my screen is measured at 16 ms lag and thats very good for an lcd tv

which TV do u use?

Mine looked fine on my plasma tv until I went triples with 3 27 inch asus monitors and I stayed with 1080 on them because of how much raw power you would need to push 3 high res monitors. I can't really imagine anyone running triples with higher than 1080p. It takes a pretty high end PC to run triples at 1080 and keep decent graphics settings. I can't imagine what you would have to sacrifice as far as in game graphics settings to run triples at 1600.

On my 50 inch plasma text looked great and there was nothing fuzzy. Now if your use to 2560 x 1600 maybe it does look bad at 1080 but I would love to see a PC that could push triple screens with AAA title games at more than 5760x 1080. I've got a pretty decent setup with sli 4gb 670s and I have to turn down to medium or in between medium and high with low AA on triples at 1080. 1600 would be crazy to run with any AA at all.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. I have no big "fuzzy nasties" whatsoever. I am always perplexed when folks talk about how poor HDTV's are for gaming. Anyone that sits in my rig and does a few laps of iRacing are totally blown away. The first question they ask me is how to set up 3 big screens.

cool so anyone can give me some recommandation pls?
i have currently 3 choices
1. LG 32LN540v
2. Samsung UE32F5000
3. sony KDL32W653

number 2 or 3 is my pick. I have 3 55" Sony Bravia's, I got a heck of a deal on them and they work most excellent as a PC screen and for gaming.

I have a high end 63" 3D Samsung plasma upstairs, it was there flagship model in 2010 and the picture is incredible, after 3 years it developed a common problem that I found out about after it happened to me. Whenever there is a white background purple flashes across the screen. Annoying to say the least, I read that Samsung can send a tech and they adjust the screen to a certain frequency and it can help. I read about this on a forum, I don't have technical skills there so I can only surmise a fix is possible. The picture is still the best I have ever seen in a large panel.

I would stay with LCD's or LED's, stay away from plasma's for gaming, they run very hot.
