Tried an oven? It worked enough for me to get my saves, but died pretty quickly afterwords.

The hair dyrer is working, It is a little bit of an old hair dryer and gets very hot so where the heatsink is once I warm that up its allowing me enough time to get items off it.

Swap the HDD?, and hopefully the new PS3 allows you to use the HDD with all the data on it.
It may not allow it though, when my fat PS3 YLOD and I swapped the HDD to my new slim PS3 everything of the HDD had to be removed.

About the trade, BHP and PP should not be necessary, they should be good.

From reading mate doing that will not work the hard drive has some sort of code of sorts that specific to the PS3 it is in?

So when you put a drive with info on it it automaticallys ask to format it to read it.
Also tried swapping out from one ps to other already and thats what I got.

I feel your pain, had the same problem and ended up mounting the motherboard to the wall for a nice little trophy. I tried re-gooping the heat sinks, the oven, with zero success. If you need help with a send, check my garage and let me know. In the meantime, here is a pic of said busted motherboard mounted to the wall under the controller charger, above that is the 80 GB HD I use for external backup...

Yeah looks like it will become a brick eventually but its like anything electrical nowadays it never lasts.
Thank heavens for the USB and backups.

Yeah I think thats the worst part is the updates, But always run it from ethernet cable so its got best chance of no interuptions.👍

I had a Ylod two weeks ago, and it took me about three to four hours to have the new PS3 up and running with the data transfered. It took a lot more troubles to have the old machine de-authorized by Sony Anyhow good luck

Yeah once you get that YLOD its so mad and sickening at the same time.
But luckily with backing up reguarly everything will be ok.

Never even thought about de-activation of my old one. For letting me know, Totally slipped my mind did that one.

Yeah mate its been a little funny for a while but last few days been a major issue.
Still sorting out the new one which came today, Loading accounts up getting garage veiws set up.
All GT5 and PS3 updates just taking an age.

Anyway on a good note, All is back almost to how I was so everthing is ok.
Not been collecting any gifts just leaving them until I know my saves are all running ok.
Only thing missing at the moment is any pictures in GT5 saves they haven,t carried over?

And with the amount of cars that you have, those thumbnails are gonna take a while. It took nearly 3 hours to do all of my standard cars (about 1100) when I borrow glitched
