Try out this X1 controller fix

I think this is one of those discoveries where you just don't know what's going to be waiting for you at the other end of the tunnel. A lot like how the millionaire glitch in FM5 may have been discovered. Anyhoo.....

Make sure you're connected to Live, go to controller settings, select update even if it says 'no update available'. It'll take you through the process even though nothing gets changed/updated.

Launch the game, adjust your controller, if need be, and enjoy almost twitch-free control.

I don't know what this changes but it gets the analog stick deadzones to work properly, like they do in GT or Forza.

I'm at work, so off the top of my head, these are my current controller settings:

* All sensitivities at zero

* All deadzones at zero except for steering - 10%

* Speed sensitive steering - 65%

* Controller sensitivity filter - 45%

* Steering damper - on

* Visual wheel filter - on

* Opposite lock help - on

Have I missed anything here? I think not!

Got anything to lose? Absolutely nothing! Give it a go and see if it gets the controller to behave like it should.

I know it cured mine and now the game is nearly 100% playable.

I'm on PS4 and I found it helpful ;) I will pass on to my friend who has the xbone version(although he said it was fine and no issues)..Maybe there aren't as many xbone users on this forum as PC and PS4 👍

You are indeed welcome and I believe that is true: most people are playing it on PS4 and PC. :cool:

If the controller is already updated, it will not change anything to update it when no update is available. Changing the controller settings obviously change the steering to the better, but it does not fix any issues. The stick range is still wrong, the steering still lock when going fast from one extreme to the other. All this will only be fixed when the patch has arrived.

Just thought I would say this, so people don't get mislead by the title of this thread.

If you refer to one of my comments in another PCARS thread, you'll see that I discovered this by accident. If you don't wish to try it out, that's your deal. No worries.

To me, it feels night and day. NOW it feels like the game is actually using the range of the analog stick properly. As I also said earlier, let me reiterate for good measure: my controller was already up to date, and nothing got updated. The game's control got better as the cars are now drivable and they don't wobble left and right like a pogo stick when you give input to the analog stick.

The patch will no doubt improve things; as for a temp fix, you should try it out (only takes a min) and get back to us, what say? You can surely try it out before dismissing it completely.

I did try it out. It does not use the full range.. Only 50-60% of it. My controller was updated. I had played with my own steering settings, which are almost the same as yours. These settings are all over this and the official forum. And other places. Nothing new here :) I just said that updating the controller, when there's nothing to update, is pointless. It doesn't change a thing. If you did that AND changed the steering settings, only the new settings changed things..

Don't blame ya since you haven't read my feedback in the PCARS first impression post, which led me to this thread: nothing was changed before/after the controller update process. Nothing got updated or changed in the controller or game, yet the control feels really manageable now. I'm hitting apexes and powering out of corners, no problem. The steering wheel is not springing back to the center position if I let go of the analog stick.

It's almost right where it needs to be. Almost. Don't know what changed, but something did. Control's *nowhere* as twitchy as it was out the box, despite experimenting for hours at the time.
