I just thought it would be awesome to have replicas of real race cars of the 90's to drive in Gran Turismo 2. Adjusting the specs would be no problem for me because Gameshark makes everything possible and bodykits don't have do be accurate and correctly painted but I couldn't find any detailled information on 90's race cars of which the basis is available in GT2 (especially on race series like DTM or STW) if it was to save my life. Anyone having some sources for stuff like that? Would be appriciate any help and of course post all creations with complete build instructions here.

Man, where were you 4 years ago when I was heavily involved with GT2? :indiff: I'm too busy nowadays with other stuff but I used to be one of the guys bugging everyone else with questions like this!

Unfortunately, I don't study race cars so much, I've always been more of a pedestrian auto fan. :indiff:

Thanks anyway for the motivation. Found a nice 93 - 96 Alfa 155 DTM Version (in GT2 words: something between a race modded 155 and the 155 Touring Car) on ultimatecarpage.com I'm currently trying to rebuild. Weight is a tricky thing as reduction has a different result on every base weight so all I can do is try different ones out. Finding a 2.5l V6 engine with enough power after N/A tune (maybe a Vette Grand Sport one to take big steps) shouldn't be that much of a problem though.
But I do have a problem with implementing a new transmission (the one from the 155 Touring Car as I need six gears for practical reasons and realism) as the game always freezes when I try to get into the transmission tab of the cars config. Any ideas to solve this problem?
Anyway building is a load of fun and I'm looking forward to making more models (406 Touring Car maybe or a touring Primera GT, all depends on the level of information).

Small update: Car already looks pretty nice, drives good (a bit of tuning still necessary) and sounds bombastic. Found a good 2.5l V6 in the largest Alfa 156 (what a coincidence) and now I'm just 6 HP, 22 lbs and a six gear transmission away from the most perfect copy possible. Finding the right combination of base weight and reduction (from 600 cars each) and a ROM or exhaust to get me 6 HP more is a damn load of work though because overall weight calculation seems to not be following any clear rules. Anyone knowing a trick to cut work in that case?

Back when I was doing hybrids based on race cars , I found most of my information on the official websites for each series, usually in the regulations section. Other information was found on individual racing teams' websites. I don't know where you might find specific information for series from the nineties though. You might try archive.org or something like that.

Also, I wouldn't bother with transmission swapping if I were you. It's almost always more trouble than it's worth.

^ Yea, I was gonna say: HYBRIDLVR woulda definitely known all about this sort of stuff, how to implement it, etc. But he ain't been around for a couple years at least.
