Ok, bare with me. I've tried everything to work out my auto transmission settings. Have set and reset gearbox to auto many times in my options settings. But when i go into do all my tuning, the damn thing won't allow me to change any transmission settings. It has it shaded red. Where do i go into to access and change my auto settings?

As i said, bare with me, what may be old hat to many has got me stuffed.

Cheers

I'll start with the obvious: you have a full-racing transmission, right? And you are highlighting the gear settings area then pressing X to get to the page where you can use the sliders, right?

Hmm, ok. No, i don't have a full racing transmission. I gather that's a pre-requisite. And yes, i am going to the gear settings page. I gather the sliders etc. can't be accessed as i am still using standard transmission,eh.

Bro you have to buy the full-racing tranny. Some really expensive race cars (like the Camaro Race Car) already have it installed along with a bunch of other parts, but in most run-of-tha-mill cars (like an ordinary Camaro) you have to buy your own full transmissions.

As with all the Fully adjustalble High end parts, You have to buy them before you can use them, Kinda make sense a little also!

Yeah, in real life if you buy a Toyota MR-S, you'll get leather seats as an option but never will you get an ABS brake controller system. Or ‘racing’*gearboxes that help you choose the right ratio when you're downshifting for that tight corner on the way to Block Buster Video. But if you're getting a team together with sponsorship from Toyota and stuff and wind up driving an Autobacs car, they GIVE you all the best parts because they WANT you to win! But you won't get leather seats.

Aside from self-handicapping, is there much of a reason NOT to buy full-customize transmissions, suspensions, and LSD's? Whoopdeedoo, they cost about 4 wins on the Gran Turismo World Championship in BEGINNER. You might have to run the whole series. Woowoo.

Laziness and curiosity...of course I can only speak for myself. I like seeing which pre-set transmissions work in different situations. But really what it boils down to for me is laziness. If I don't have to tune a tranny to win, I won't! I actually use a car's stock or close-ratio (sports) gearing much more than I use full-racing gears. You rarely ever need to tune a transmission to win, is what I've found. I pretty much only use them at the Test Track (like in the Beetle Cup) or for extremely high-paced racing.

So far as limited-slip and suspensions...again I rarely use full racing parts unless I have to break out the heavy artiliary ...it's just not necessary to overload your brain with how perfect your toe angle is if you're doing most Beginner & amateur races when a simple ground clearance & damper adjustment will do. I'll use pre-set LSD units on a low-powered car if it needs it (which is mostly needed for MR and FR cars like a Trueno or MR-S). But hey, that's just me..
