Anyone else finding the Cape Ring rather difficult? I'm still a full second off the gold pace... any more pushing, and the dumb FR cars just spin the wheels. Even the FF Focus ST would lose rear grip... I'm guessing the people with 2:5x times are using wheels, and MT. It's a little more difficult with controller and AT. I noticed everyone was using the Camaro '10, so figured the "Edge Special" would be even better. Maybe not?

I took the Camaro '10 and couldn't quite crack the gold time, but from loading the ghost of the top guy at the time could see that the car in stock form just wasn't reacting quick enough. So I did all possible weight reductions and all the drivetrain upgrades except for the new tranny and LSD, and then reduced power to bring the PP back down to 500. As modified it was noticeably more responsive into the corners and seemed to have more pickup despite the reduced HP. Cracked gold by 2+ secs with this combo once I got a lap properly hooked up. Am using a wheel and AT.

Funny, 2 hours into the Suzuka TT and I'm still in the top 10. I've got a good feeling that I'll do well this time. ;)

i just picked a 2004 C5 Z06 with stage 2 weight savings detuned to 340 hp...then i set the transmission to top out at about 168 set traction control to 1 abs 1... wasnt the greatest set up but got the job done

for suzuka i used bone stock 12 GTR black edition with oil change

Just gold the 500pp with the '10 Camaro SS with 2:00:451. DS3, mt transmission, tcs 0 abs 1.

Edited: gold the 600pp with a easy 2:07:260 at first try.

I ran the Shelby Series 1 on Cape Ring... got a 2:58.x with a controller & AT after a few laps. Might try it again after looking at some top 10 replays. Golded Suzuka with a Ford GT for now... :dopey:

Wish the 600pp TT were on race tires since it's gonna be all race cars at the top. Well, one race car to be more accurate.

Anyway it will be interesting to see what car comes out on top for the 500pp. Just hope it's not some de-tuned monster. :yuck:

Meh, I'm at 130% at the moment so I'm going to wait a few days to get all the credits out of these.. :/ Shame they made them so easy again...

Awesome TT's! Love Suzuka and Cape Ring. Had a quick run at Suzuka, 2.01.1 on my third lap (just behind ugubugaz again ;) ). The Cape Ring one looks good, nice diversity of cars, although yinato just did a 2.49 with a Camaro SS.

If I can recall correctly:

This week: TT and DT...
Last Week: B-Spec...
The week before last week: TT and DT...

I hope you are right Mack :nervous: ...or I will go crazy

TT & DT are always every 2 weeks then the weeks in between are either a spec or b spec

Cape Ring is a fun track, why have i never driven here before?
This game needs some kind career mode like toca race driver

Has anyone got any suggestions for the suzuka event apart from the 2J??

You can lightened a 2012 GTR black edition, and put hp around 600hp, you should be around 600pp.

The real shame lies in certain peoples inability to use common sense when choosing a vehicle for Time Trials.

The Performance Points are recommendations. Therefore by adding two plus two one should comprehend that by picking a slower car, the difficulty goes up.

:ouch:

Any JGTC car tuned to 600 PP should do the job, assume most people have at least one in that spec lying around thanks to the Spa seasonal

Considering how easy the gold time is, anything that can reach 600PP should do it. I imagine some 500PP cars could do it.

Yeah, I got gold easy with a Playstation R8, or a couple of different racing R34/R35 Nissans- but I was after something that might get a better time- I'm in the 2.13s, I don't think I'll get much lower than a 2.11something with any of these cars.

Is there anything else that might get close to a 2J on this trial?

DTs easy enough to gold:

Stock Shelby Cobra for Sarthe - took a few tries to get correct entry speed for turn 1 but otherwise no drama.

Ring DT a bit easy: gold in Cobra first try and then almost 5 k in M5 with some tuning. I think I'll go back to the 360.

Had one lap at Cape with stock premium Z06, got bronze but can't see me getting gold in it, unmodified at least.

The difficulty of the TTs is not getting a gold time, it's getting the best time. They are as easy as the number one racer makes them.
I just see the rewards as a nice encouragement to do the TTs.

You are incorrect.

Since exactly one person will have the best time, and way less than 1% will ever compete for the best time, many thousands of us don't get to play that game.

So that can't be the only point of the TT.

Having a reasonably challenging gold time would make it much more interesting for the thousands of us who paid the same good money for the game as the top 0.1% that have the skill to compete for #1.

The way it is I do 1 lap, get gold time, win the million, and then what? I will never get close to #1. I can't win any more money or get any higher trophy. So I'm done.

PD is pandering to the lowest skill players by making gold too easy, and ignoring the 90% in the middle who would love a decent challenge.

Well on the other hand, maybe a bunch of people who would never attempt TTs will learn something while going for the easy credits.

I'm nowhere near the top of the boards, but I usually give it a good effort, try out some different cars, tuning, etc. Plus I can check out the top replays to pick up some driving tips.

All that said, I don't see why PD doesn't release a full set of A-spec, B-spec, Expert challenges, TT and DT events every week. I just can't believe it requires very much effort on their part.

The goal for everyone is to be faster than the guy ahead of you. That is a challenge open for everybody. (or to be 1 place higher) Only the leader doesn't have this challenge :)

Please can some one name some good cars for the 500pp ring race, Don't have many 500pp american cars in my garage at the moment more like 650pp++.
Tried focus but ff sucks with SH tires.

There are some cars that the topdrivers are using. Shelby, ford gt and the camaro. The camaro is not expensive and fun to drive. If you dont have the money you can send me a friends request and I can share those cars with you. And the 2j if you dont have it. Good luck:)

Or like GT1, GT2, GT3, or GT4? Yeah I agree. GT5 needs a career mode.

Camaro SS '10
Viper SRT10 ACR '08 and other Vipers
Shelby Series One Supercharged
Corvettes
GT40s

The bulk of the Leaderboard so far is using the Camaro SS '10. I have also read about detuned Vipers, Corvettes, and Series Ones working well. 👍 I would also expect that some can do it in a Cobra.

That feels just a little too much like running on a hamster wheel to me.

I'm normally not even close to the fastest times. But I just compare times between my friends.
Like a sort time trial competition. really fun. 👍
Every body tries to get the fastest time just before the seasonal is closing.

I had an hour last night to play.Got silver with a detuned 2000 Mustang Cobra R.Tried the Focus ST ,but too much understeer. Also tried '04 Corvette Gran Sport (I think..) ,but handling was sloppy. Will try the more popular choices tonight..

It's a fun hamsterwheel:)

For those that enjoy trying to get their personal best time, fantastic.

I'm just saying that a more challenging gold time would add to the enjoyment for most people.

Look back at the last expert challenge. Look how much people enjoyed them. Even those that struggled. And then when you get the gold it felt great.

I admit it took me many trys to gold the Scoobie challenge, and it was great.

Way back in the early seasonals I never did gold the R35 at SSR5. That car at that track on those tires just got the best of me. And I wish it was still up so I could try some more. I'm a better driver now, and I think I could beat it. :D
