Tuning a Drift Car?

I am new to drifting but looking to start. I was wondering though, are there any tune upgrades you want to avoid on a drift car?

Sorry if this is totally wrong, but I was thinking about for example the chassis reinforcement. Would this negatively affect drift distance/ability as the car does not roll as much and pull itself around?

Is there such thing as having too much HP, too?
 
For a beginner, yes there's definately such thing as too much power. I'd recommend starting out with an S13 Nissan, tune it to 250-300bhp, weight reduction, LSD, fully sutomisable suspension and all 3 sets of comfort tyres. There'd be no harm in doing the chassis reinforcement either, if you can afford it :)

Then there's a lot of opinions on how to tune your car for drift, which unfortunately you're going to have to experiement with yourself and see what suits you best :) I would recommend locking the LSD as much as possible, ie 5 initial torque and then 60 accl/deceleration sensitivity. Other bits of common ground between most set ups is slight camber on the front to help grip at full lock, slight toe in at the back to help stability and stiff front springs. The rest is pretty much up to you!
 
As far as HP goes, there is a such thing as too much when your starting out but once your a pro I'm pretty sure part of being a pro is knowing how to drift anything with at least 2 wheels.

As far as mods go, I'm not sure if anything can have a serious negative impact, but I do know that in most cases for a moderate skill level car I only use a few mods, usually suspension either height kit or fully adjustable depending on how much money I want to sink into certain cars, a few HP items such as Intake, Exhaust and maybe turbo, and finish it out with an LSD clutch, flywheel and shorter ratio tranny and change the tires around a bit if needed.

Though I'm not up to drifting 8 9 and 1000 hp cars yet.
