Im thinking of intering this comp. it will be my first time though. I do know one the this car seems to push very hard coming out of the turns on a stock setting. I hope mine will be better.

Hey, we always want to see new faces! :D

Just to add to that, I dont know how other judges feel, but for me, if people include 'usage notes', then I will try to follow them as much as possible. I'm not judging this week, but when I do this is a tip.

For example, if you want me to use automatic or manual, then tell me to. Or maybe if your setup works best when braking early, then say that too!

Your not going to lose points by being helpful. 👍

Yeah that's a good idea because we all prob have unique ways of driving. I particularly have a setup that I need to make clear about aimed towards gearing.. So I'll add a note in there along with my settings.

Duck
Nitrous is obsolete, since laptimes aren't measured.

The only time I'd let tuners use ASM if there's a 4000hp FWD Civic in the game, but since there's not, I'm not allowing it.

Ballast will be allowed if I use the RUF Yellowbird in the comp.

Using ballast and ASM requires no skill at all. They're like steroids in the Tour de France. And even if I get 4 extra participants because I allow aids and ballast, I'm not going to put the judges through testing set-ups that are extremely dull.

Even though you can give more points to people who don't use ballast or ASM, I don't think all the judges would remember that.

So long story short, no is the answer. This is a Tuning Competition, and I wouldn't want entrants submitting half-assed set-ups that really aren't "tuned".
👍 Right on.
I think I'd remember :mischievous:

I drive every car in manual, all the time. I shift right before the rev limiter on all Tuning Competition setups, unless otherwise instructed on the setup submission.

Yes, MStorm, so far only one person has ever included 'usage notes', and they weren't accurate as the wrong tyres were tuned on :P but it is a good idea, and stops judges driving a setup that might be meant for oversteer like a laptime-setting car. But as I say, I'll always test in manual.

I withdraw from this one. just can't get it right:guilty:
I'm not the only one who found this one difficult then....

Don't give up though! Submit your best effort - that's what I did, partly in the hope that the judges comments will give me some pointers on this car. Plus you never know - that's 2 of us that had trouble with it, so maybe it's just a tricky car to tune and our efforts will stack up OK.

Go on, send in your settings :sly: :D

I have 2 setups. The first is great for me but I wont send it in as the excessive oversteer might scare the judges and lose me marks! :P Fingers crossed for my second!

***********ALL JUDGES PLEASE READ**********

As said earlier, by one of you, (sorry, can't remember who) we can let you know what to use, (manual/auto), break early, etc, etc.

Being a 4WD/AWD car, i have set my car up to take what i call the "4WD Line" - and I'm sure most racing fanatics are familiar with this. Basically it's break hard and straight, turn in at a late apex (therefore slower than the normal apex line) and power-hard while understeering thru for maximum exit speed. It's pretty much your standard Hairpin style "fast line" - however, i feel that my setup turns extremely well compared to the stock setting, so it's not essential to use this technique.

I've also made the gear ratios work for both auto and manual with minimal difference in lap time. And the car is more forgiving under hard braking eliminating the need for 'left-foot braking' in the case of that some judges may or may not use this technique.

Cheers, DM :sly:

Has any one tryed Ducks setting from the Workshop. If so how was it?

lol, I'm new here and i didn't really know what you were talking about - so i had a squint around for the last 30 minutes, finally found what you were talking about!

Hey Duck, i reckon you and I have very similar driving styles!!! :dopey: There's a few settings i noticed in there for the Impreza C-spec that are similar to the setting i PM'ed you last night! I think there was something that as exactly the same!!! 👍

Just for your own point of reference i took my setup around midfield and put out a lap of 1:13.483 (T1: 23.188, T2: 46.480).

Btw, looking at your list, you don't have the BMW LMR in there, do you not like it?

Had to have a look after hearing about Ducks setup and Im glad to see mine is very different. Im really looking forward to the results for this to see if anyone took a similar route to mine. Good luck chaps! :)

That's a great time considering you haven't used all of the available parts, I'm 0.362 behind your time on my best lap. :)

That cool at least I know im in the ballpark with this setting. I was alittle scard to do this being my first time:scared:

haha, me too... my first time so i'm glad to see that i'm on the pace. GT can be frustrating like this because you never can tell how good you really are because there's no "real" online mode to compete with real people all the time. :yuck:

I was watching some Tsukuba Super Lap Challange cars and we are right on with some of the cars on there. The Jun Impreza Is laping in the 56s range. I think these Time attacks are performed on groved race tires. do a search on streetfire for Tsukuba.....These cars are sweet.

I sent mine in but I didn't get a tracking confirmation. That never happened to me before let me know if you got it.

Great vid! You are running about the same times as I was IIRC but you might have benefitted from at least a 1.5 LSD, adjustable transmission and racing suspension rather than original.

Your setting is so far removed from mine Im a bit worried now...I wonder how stable your is? :( :D

EDIT: ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! I am very worried now because I just checked my PM's sent list after reading Sonzilla's post and there is no sign whatsoever of my PM being sent to Duck!!! :(

My setup didn't seem to like LSD no matter how much I adjusted it. It just wanted to push no matter what, so I took it off completely and wallah no more push. Overall this car caught me off guard a little, I mean I didn't expect it to be that difficult but it was challenging. After a couple of days of trying various setups, I finally found middle ground. The car doesn't push or excessively over steer, you point and it goes. Looking forward to what the judges are going to think especially with my Custom 4 speed. I always tune for shorter gears at short tracks, it prevents shift pauses which slows you down. I took off a considerable amount of time with it. My laps were consistant 54.6XX sec and a personal best of 54.081 sec.

Did anyone else get rid of the 6spd? and tune for less shifts?

No but thats an ingenious approach! Cant wait to see your setting. I just hope Duck got mine because I really need to see how my setting stacks up!!! :(
