Turning angle/sharpness, my head is exploding

:dopey::crazy::banghead::gtpflag:

min 30 max 50

Obviously you want the car to turn as sharp as possible for the numerous sharp slow turns that are like 80 degree on the Fuji and Suzuka trax...

Why would you want it NOT to turn sharp?

Is 50 going to make it turn sharper/faster than 30? Yes, is the answer, but doesnt always seem that way or am I losing my mind...probably

Anyway, I know I am a pain in the _ _ _ around here with nonstop questions :sly: but I really appreciate it...

(expert races make driving pro physics, accelerating makes the car spin out, has to be a trick to it but i dont get why it is so hard, or i guess that is the whole point of this darn game, i do love it by the way - 55 yr old grandpa and I love it oh yes 👍 )

I always run higer steering angle, depending on the car, some I am happy at 45, others I run 50. The higher the less you have to turn the wheel, and yes I am lazy. ;)

I'm the opposite of Hyper, I prefer small turning angle so I can make smoother changes in steering more easily (mostly because I use the controller not a wheel).
Although, it depends on the car, as some require harder driving than others, I sometimes prefer higher steering angles for 4WD cars.

Just try out different settings and see what makes you better,we alll like things a little different from what someone else prefers.

I'm with Ardius. I prefer a smaller TA as I use G-Axis ;)

But it all comes down to the car I'm using. Also on how nervous the car is. The twitcher and more nervous the car is the lower the TA I will use. I like to throw the car around and if I'm using a bigger TA then it can snap back with it set to 50.

I like to keep it real.
Most cars have a high steering ration like 16:1. I don't know what
that would translate to ingame (maybe an angle of 40?).
I set the Evo9 for instance (a car with a very direct steering...ratio of 13:1) to an angle of around 48 and that seems to feel very realistic compared to the real life car. All other cars that are more "normal" (like a VW or Audi) I like to set to lower angles so they feel more realistic, meaning their steering is not that precise and sharp.

Im not convinced the wheels actually turn sharper.

Although, I have never looked at the wheels turned all the way on any setting.

so if set at 50 it will turn easier, sharper than if set at 40, right?

ok, unless i hear otherwise that is right

does this game frustrate you almost asmuch as it entertains you :sly:

The Higher the number the less you have to turn the wheel, we all agree there.

Im not so sure it turns sharper, it might, I just dont know.

The thing that frustrates me is the numbers for TA, camber, and toe. They are numbers, not degrees or mm... just numbers.

Max Turning Angle can be a useful tuning aid. Cars that generate a lot of power-on oversteer often benefit from slightly smaller angles.

Take the F40 out with the angle set to 50, and compare it to an angle of 40.

For most styles of driving, the less sensitive steering angle (in this case 40) will allow for smoother power delivery on turn exits. If your steering input, wheel or 6-axis, is marginally off-center, the relative lack of steering sensitivity at 40 will mean that the car 'acts' straighter than with an angle of 50... at 50 degrees, the wheels will be less straight for the same amount of off-center input, and this can cause your tail to come around.

Be careful though, as even the F40 can benefit power-on oversteer if you lack front-wheel grip/turn... a lower Max Turning Angle can make it seem as it you've developed rear-wheel push :)

I set nearly all my cars to either 45 or 50 depending on track, or car's ability. I like to have that fast response in it, and since I don't have to turn the wheel as much it's easier to drive fast. However, if I had a super twitchy car, I may consider a less responsive turn ratio. But I don't see that happening with many if any cars.

Reduced Turn Angle is a double-edged sword for this DS3 driver. An angle set closer to 30 helps with smoothness, and I usually see a benefit in free run lap time with it set like this.
But, I cannot recover form a slight mistake as easy. Whether due to traffic issues or just basic inconsistency, a greater Turn Angle helps me sort out a less-then-good line or error and continue without a spin.

With the wheel, I find that I don't have a huge problem with smoothness but if I go over the limit and start to slide, I find it much easier to recover if I have a high turning angle. I find with a lower angle, I end up into an all out spin much easier.

I just keep every car at 45, but I don't really notice a difference at any level with the DS3.

ds3? wheel?

i use g25 racing wheel and the only problem i have other than turning is the right paddle wont work shifting manually, i can shift up but not down

so it is broken but even if i could use the paddles i probably wouldnt, too hard
