Just did 5 laps TT at Deep Forest in the RSR. Got within 3 seconds of the fastest time in the world. But when I checked the leader board I was 21,xxxth!

Usually 3 seconds off puts you ~5,000th, maybe ~10000th, no?
In combos like this the times are really really tight and it's fairly easy to match loads of people's times.

The track is really well known now and the cars are so similar that the competition is super close in B this week and in C as is the nature of a popular track and Gr4

I'm .8 off number 1 and 650th for C

But for B (which I haven't raced this week)

I'm 2 seconds off the top time and 4300

Just flicking a few pages from my position on the leaderboard and I think this will answer your question

@Voodoovaj it won't be for that as you can't be banned like that for in game behaviour (several players who cannot be named would have had lifetime bans)

The 3 day PSN ban is because of offensive/threatening messages or liveries.

You can use an alt account fine in this period just not the banned one.

Threatening messages or liveries? 🤔 Maybe my DeWalt Subaru??? You can't send threatening messages because it gets **** out.
Yes you can because just them blocking them doesn't mean they aren't tracked.

Also unsolicited PSN messages calling some one a Muppet/Clown etc will trigger a ban if reported.

They definitely wouldn't have reviewed any reports that quickly after a race as the report mechanism is for the entire PSN across all games.

Trust me I have had 1,3 and 7 day bans before.

Ok, but no messages were sent.

I only said "block pass" at the end..two words

It won't be for that mate if that video is from today they won't have even reviewed the report yet.

Even if you didn't say anything offensive it is more than likely from another message you sent via PSN to someone else in the last week id highly suspect.

PD in game reporting isn't the same as issuing PSN bans in the normal way.

Strange...I never say anything post race.

Oh well, the wife will be happy.

Edit - Maybe it's my sign off? "Upset? call 1 800 0 FKS GVN" ... ya think?

I will.

But ultimately it's not a massive issue, consistency is probably the biggest factor.

I will say that worn oil does have some affect but the reality looks like it's negligible to but all of the most hardcore/exceptional guys and even then they use the fresh cars.

It's just something I can feel/am sensitive to I think because I pay so much attention to the mechanics of extracting my lap times.
From my experience worn oil will affect lap times in a controlled environment. I notice it occasionally in the weekly TT when I find one that I really like and run too many laps. I'll find my times dropping off and when I exit I have worn oil. Change the oil and the times come back down. Obviously we're talking very minimal gains here, but a little is a lot on the leaderboard.

Now for an extreme example. My Tomahawk X has over 31k miles and is down 24 hp from the stock 2586 hp. This equates on average to over a second per lap at SSX. The car has had hundreds of oil changes and many engine and chassis rebuilds. @GOTMAXPOWER has an infamous high mileage Gr3 911 that he uses in the daily races. If I'm not mistaken, it has never had an engine rebuild. He can probably chime in with some more information about the effects on speed differences during races.

My Porsche has had many engine rebuilds and it can't get back up to the original HP, the same as your Tomahawk. I don't bother changing the oil on my Gr3 cars now if I'm just using them for daily races, it shows as bad but it doesn't matter as soon as you enter a race with BoP turned on because it equalises everybody's cars to those specs.

If you have to ask.....what do a 12 year olds mom or dad is gonna say when they see that? "Report for bad language" especially if that profile is linked to a younger gamer either via parental sharing or just DoB

We are married, children, dog etc but you have to remember man that any child can play this game and that's just gaming and it explains a lot of the behaviours on track we "experience"

But does it? That's point of the debate, BoP is power and weight vs track rating.

It's all such a black box.

Edit:

Why does oil wear in daily races? Why did wall ridding kill my Veyron chassis?

I only do online racing?

Yep. Search this forum for Dewalt.

You didn’t send a message except the one that you sent?

A pretty obvious open goal for reporting...

Driving standards are not enforced at a general level, so it won't be that.

Ya, of course, I just can't recall anything offensive.

The worst that I can recall from this week's races is one race where one driver made it a disaster from everyone. I did chime in with "c r a p" which, yes, I know it's not allowed (without the spaces) but, I mean, is THAT really worth a 3 day ban?

Oh well...I guess it's music rally for the weekend 💩

Whatever happened to fun? What kills me is not knowing. It's just a vanilla violation.

Ya, like I said, the worst part is not knowing. How can a person correct a bad behavior if they don't know which behavior is bad?

I'm pretty sure it temporarily resets it to those specs as soon as you enter a BoP race, the oil on my Huracan shows as bad but it doesn't lose any time at all on the ghost of the top Lamborghini on the race B leaderboard before the first braking zone.

That was how it worked at launch too but back then it would change how it showed in the garage after the race to "Excellent" until you entered one without BoP on, I don't think that game mechanic has changed just how it is displayed.

Create an alt account it doesn't cost anything.

I run 2 Europe alt accounts A/B rated for nations and manu cups where I need more time slots due to life. Also helps on those bad combo weeks.

I also have a US account but that usually is to try and find other GTP players or practice from the back with Clean Races as the metric for that one.

Cross posted.

I think it does matter just not enough to make a difference.

Wear is applied to the car, the is pretty much indicative of it being part of the mechanic.

And if wear is being tracked when is that wear applied? The menu screen or lap 99 of a QT session? Or through out?

Now is it negligible, while no one has proved one way or the other the times are close enough that it doesn't really, can you feel it? I can but that is only anecdotal in that I feel the car hesitate slightly and yes it needs an oil change.

I think the consensus is that if it does anything it's marginal and in high pressure (qt/races) scenarios the least of anyone's worries.

But car wear is still tracked and applied so BoP just equalises things in a primitive way. The base mechanic is still doing its thing.
