TVR Cerbera Speed 12 Tuning Guide: Stop the Spins!

The TVR Speed 12 is such a sick car (probably my favorite in the game with that paint job), that I just had to get the tuning down to break out its true potential.

I am by no way a tuning guru, but by reading around and trying things out, I think that I have tamed the spinning wheel problem. This is not a perfect fix, as you will see, but after tuning I am able to come out in first EASILY in the premium sports lounge in the extreme events arena.

The car's problem is it's power. It's so powerful it's wheels will spin in any gear if you lay down the gas. You can do the feathering technique, but I'm lazy and find it to be a pain in the arse and slow.

First, you need to buy some things. Go to GT Auto and get a oil change (as you always should since it's the absolute cheapest way to increase hp). Get some spiffy wheels while you're at it (this car deserves them), I can usually find great tailored wheels in the daily specials. Lastly make sure you go to the wing shop and buy a 3D Type AB, AS, or AW (I think this is the best wing for this car; I didn't want to ruin it's looks with a wing, but this car needs it!). Get a car wash lastly if you like. Next go to the TVR tuning shop and load up. Make sure you buy soft sports tires, a brake controller, N20, racing suspension, stage 4 turbo (no supercharger), and a fully customized transmission and limited slip.

Go to your race or home and get out the tuning kit.

Make sure you have soft tires on, boost your N2O to 50%, and increase your brake balance to 6/4 front/rear (you will still have trouble braking and may need to toy with this when all is done). Set your driving aids to 10 each (esp. TCS).

Transmission: Open 'er up! She's to tight! ;)
Set Final gear ratio between 2.8 and 2.9.
Push Auto out to around 15
You can play with this as needed, but setting her too tight will make the wheels spin.

Suspension:
I left the spring rate alone, it looked okay.
I lowered the car to 64/66 front/rear.
Shock bound at 6, rebound at 8.
Camber at 3.5/2.0 front/rear.
Toe angle at -1/-2 front/rear.
Stabilizers at 4.

Downforce:
She needs more pressure on her tires, so push up the downforce to 24/40 front/rear.

I left limited slip alone (i've never gotten the hang of it).

Lastly, put some sacks of potatoes in the trunk! Go to Weight Balance!
Increase balast weight to ~45, and set the front/rear balance to ~20. This will put that needed pressure on the tires (but will also make it more difficult to brake, so follow your lines and brake early!).

That should do it, but make alterations as you see fit. When driving, you may not make it to latter gears since you opened the car up so much. This can decrease initial acceleration which can easily be made up by upping the car's power with the turbo kit and applying a little N20. Have fun! Doing this I can lay down the gas with no trouble! I generally win the premium sports lounge races by about 30 seconds, and that's banging into walls and driving lazy. Let me know if it works for you!

your technique works slightly quicker on 0-1000 thank you im still getting wheelspin but its about a second quicker :D

thing is my less powered tuscan is getting much better times :(

Do you mean the Tuscan is fast 0-1000m, or round a track? I'll post some setting of my own when I get a chance, my Speed 12 kills other cars. If you keep the Speed 12 stock it's arguably the fastest road car in GT4.

Bro, thanks for the write up. I followed your guide, just made the brakes 8/6, insted of 6/4.

It didn't seem to have any problems at all, didn't touch any walls in the city courses, which is a bit of a first for me, seeing as I'm still a bit of a noober. :scared:

Finally tamed the Speed 12! Lol, thanks again. :sly:

EDIT ::
My car also didn't look too bad with the wing on the back, cause I went with the black Speed 12, with black mags, so all in all, looks rather awesome too.

The Speed 12 is the perfect race car for the "Like the Wind" race. Watching it bump the LM and C Class cars out of it's way was priceless. With racing super hards and a supercharger it'll lap the Test Course in 1'30.
