People have been trying these things for years. They are idiocy. They usually suck as airplanes and cars.

Even starting with the the Elise, it's cheaper and easier to just buy an airplane, fly it somewhere, and rent a car when you get there...

A few thoughts that crossed my mind while skimming:

1) How is the 1500-lb Elise's suspension going to like having more than a thousand pounds of dead weight stacked on top of it? Empty? More like an extra 2000 lbs loaded...
:shakehead
2) What are the front wheels going to do to the aerodynamics when they turn in the air (since the steering wheel is still used to control aircraft turning)?
3) 3450 lbs is H-E-A-V-Y for a two-seater aircraft. Try 1800-2000 lbs. That plus a landing speed of 65 mph (about 20 mph higher than, say, a Cessna 152) means that poor Elise is going to feel like a wide receiver with four linebackers piled on it, every time it lands. And that's assuming a good pilot.
:blackeye:
I say again... these things never work.

Just look at that out-of-the-box Microsoft Frontpage theme!

(sorry, the web designer in me was mortally offended, and I had to close the window)

So, not only do we have to worry about cars crashing into the living room, we have to worry about them falling on us as we sit in the backyard. Fantastic!

I've seen a few of these and always thought it seemed an interesting idea. But I have a friend who figures out risks for an insurance company. For him, this idea seemed his worst nightmare. He thought there isn't any way these things will get insured, at least to anyone other than pilots.

Apparantly, they figure they have enough problems with people not paying attention and smashing their cars into various objects without them also falling out of the sky.

By the way, I just saw an accident about an hour ago.
