What's a twitter?

Just kidding, I don't use it, no facebook either. Stopped it because it became quite boring.

Really though, what's twitter? (yes, I live under a rock, it's called China)

A haven for bad grammar, spelling, and hash marks. Some people are poetic with a 140 character limit, many are not.

Actually, it would probably work well in CJK languages, being more pictographic and ideographic than other written languages.

Yeah same, don't use Twitter or Facebook, I think that social networking fad era is starting to slow now anyway.

Twitter has its uses. I personally wouldn't follow any uninteresting individual on there just to get followers. I only follow the official Twitter feeds of F1 teams and drivers, some hockey teams and players, and some game studios. A lot of the smaller teams tweet a lot during the FP sessions and to a lesser degree Qualy. They let fans know what sort of runs the drivers are doing, what they're evaluating. It's a great way to keep people informed and gain fans. Teams also have Facebook pages where they run contests and post up pictures of race weekends and other things during off-weeks. Calling Twitter and other social networking sites "s***" is, frankly, ignorant. It shows who simply knows it as some place to tell your friends what you ate for dinner and where you were Saturday night.

I only Tweet myself if it's an answer to a contest or something. I don't Tweet about my daily life, what I'm doing or where I'm going.

Same here. I never have used that s*** and never will. 👍

 at people with this attitude. There is a difference between sitting on Facebook all day and wasting time and using it to keep in touch with old friends that happen to live across the country, or announcing you are heading out for the night and anyone that is interested can tag along, etc.

Its a useful communication tool if you know how to use it.

(facebook) Its a useful communication tool if you know how to supress the idiocy

There. Fixed!

but seriously, I see twitter (I dont use it) as a breeding ground for poor sentences and sms-speak. Which I can't tolerate (or read). I use the 'Book for keeping in touch with freinds I don't see much since leaving school.

eg. One of my good freinds went to the Americas/Europe for six months, and he sent me some awsome pictures of Monaco and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, as well as other mis-adventures on his trip. and I could send messages to him without worrying about time difference or cost. So I think, with correct usage, It can be good.

Breeding ground for poor sentences and sms-speak?? lol!! Poor sentences have been a problem forever, social networking just puts it out there in full view. And sms-speak, please...it exists even without Twitter. If you follow the right people you don't have to deal with it. If you're stupid enough to follow some random 15 year old with a Twitter account, then yea you're going to get a headache trying to read anything. I never have an issue with the people I follow on Twitter unless they use a foreign language like HRT, Rubens, and some of the other drivers. And even then they usually Tweet the same thing in English. You've simply formed a closed-minded opinion and won't budge from it.

I have Twitter too but I rarely use it. I'm not even posting stuff there.

I have Facebook, and speaking of the textspeak that's being discussed here, heck, even a girl I used to have a crush on (uhh yeah, I'm young) doesn't type properly.

Oh, the irony.

PBrooklyn.

Don't really tweet much, just watch others tweet.

Do you have such an interesting life that will lure us to follow you?

Ditto that. It’s a great way to get immediate news about people/companies/teams that you’re interested in.

It's not. There's a reason companies are throwing the Twitter & FB icons on their commercial now & offering special deals for those who follow them.

I use Twitter to follow some players from my favourite hockey team, and to keep up with the general goings on. Sometimes it can be really interesting how the Twitter universe reacts to certain things. Google #tweettheresults, that was a good moment for Twitter.

Here's an idea, if you don't use Twitter and think it's a waste of time, don't post in the thread, don't bash the people who use it and definitely try to be educate yourself better on the ways of the world before making such comments as "the social networking fad is dying"... because it isn't.

For those interested: @diego440 though about 80% of my tweets are in Spanish

^^That.
I started to use twitter as a news page, following news center around the world to get all the news I crave for.
But as this is a twitter thread, I can say : I don't like Myface and Suckerberg.

I will add you Tom. Always give me a good laugh with your pics and comments.👍

Also, Josh, Y U No Follow Me? rofl

Twitter @GillesMola

(Also sorry daaan, I searched but nothing on the first page, i assumed wrongly ;))

Here's another idea, let's go into the GT5 subforum and tell off all the people who have any criticism of the game. Let's go into the Music subforum and tell off all the people who don't like music that someone posted. Let's do this in all the subforums. Last time I checked it is not against the AUP to post your opinion on something. Obviously posting that comment without any facts to back it up is kinda stupid but if someone doesn't like Twitter they have every right to say so.

It's not against the AUP to behave like an asshat, obviously. Yet some people manage it very well. It's called common sense. :)

Nobody was called any names, so let's just agree to disagree...

I have a tweet-twit (Youtube joke; replace the 'i' with an 'a'), but I only used it to follow a game developer for some free DLC

If anyone can give me a reason to actually use it I'll provide my details (if I can remember them).

EDIT: Damn censor.

Added you Josh.

Just recently started a new account cause i didnt like my old fake one anymore.

Feel free to add me anyone who might be slightly interested.
