Two Ghosts

Spooky! Bug or feature? I've never seen this happen in previous games. Load a replay, do a lap and you get both ghosts. I tried for three but two seems to be the limit.

I’ve heard it’s a feature but I haven’t tested myself. Essentially you see both the ghost from the replay you loaded as well as your “live” ghost if you will. Two is the max to my knowledge.

That is interesting. I can't do the ghost thing though. I turned ghost off, too distracting and I can't see my marks.

Extra distracting when there are two of them. The idea is to be in front though. In GT6 I had a button mapped to ghost on/off so I could turn it off when I couldn't see where I was going and on again later to see how I was doing. There's probably a button somewhere and I haven't found it yet. The problem is I only think of looking for it in the middle of a hot lap when the ghost is distracting me.

Hi Stirling, it's actually a feature ... I was as surprised as you were when it happened the first time.
Press your right stick for ghost on / off 👍.

R3.

I don't usually load a ghost because I agree two becomes too distracting. Even with just the one I'll turn it off if I'm running close enough to the same time/lines that it gets in my central field of vision. I do like seeing it if I'm ahead of it or behind it just to get a general idea of what I'm running, where I've run well and where I need to improve.

What I think distracts me even more is the gap numbers on the HUD. I find myself focusing on it and get frustrasted whenever it goes red and then I'll screw up:lol:

If it's a feature, what's the point of it? It's quite entertaining I suppose. Right stick - I don't have one of those I'm afraid. Wheel.

I might have one of those. I'll have to remember to check before I'm in the middle of a lap. 👍

I can imagine, 1 is too much for me...2 would be crazy! I've just never liked using ghosts. I always go by my sector times. See where I am lacking and where I am gaining.

Thought about the two ghosts again and I'm not sure anymore whether it's a feature or not. Would make sense if you could switch between them. I'd usually use a top 10 ghost - the gap opens up soon enough so you can have it switched on all the time, 'race' it, see his lines and exactly tell the corners where you lose and concentrate on them. To me the most distracting thing's been the blue GT6 ghost lines from your friends - impossible driving with them in front of me. Anyway ... @StirlingMoose hope you've found R3 👍.

It's an excellent feature that I use all the time.
For example, I have my fastest lap ever on a track saved as a ghost. That is my bench mark.
If I now pick a different car I want to use, I can load the saved ghost and race against it.
After one lap I now have the best lap bench mark, and the best lap so far in the new car.
As mentioned, R3 to turn the ghosts on and off, so no issues of confusion when coming to a technical part of the track.
On the straight turn them back on to see how you driving in comparison to them.

As for not seeing your markers, you should aim towards turning them off and not needing to rely on them any way ;)

I hardly ever do direct comparisons between cars - you're right though, good idea.
As for the markers most of them are wrong anyway for most of the cars imo  ...

I wouldn't know, I turned off all apex, braking and whatever else markers and lines before driving a single car in the game!
If you start without them, you never need to relearn everything when you want to get rid of them

I have them on without ever relying on them. On tracks where you have no visual marks like Willow Springs e.g., they're a bit of a help.

Is it possible to download a replay from one of the top 10 times for a sport mode race and use that as a ghost for quali?
