What a strange week though:

1) Celtic throws away their title in the final two minutes of normal time in the last game of the season.
2) ManU have a million chances within a hairs breadth of scoring, but lose on penalties in the FACup Final.
3) Milan, 3-0 up after 50 mins lose on penalties despite having numerous scoring chances late in the game.

Dont ever say soccer gods dont exist.

I just think Liverpool wanted it more. How many finals have maldini, seedorf, gattuso, nesta had between them compared to Pool?

Tell me about it...

I had a sweepstake bet on Rio Ferdinand scoring first in the FA Cup final :grumpy:

I'm a Celtic supporter :grumpy: :ouch:

...but, despite not even being a Liverpool fan, watching that game was one hell of an experience :dopey: ... never seen anything quite like that...

The bookies probably made a killing last night...

I felt sorry for AC 'cos they threw away a 3 goal lead in 6 minutes

I didnt feel sorry for them at all, they came out in the second half looking like they couldn't be arsed cos they'd already won. Serves them right for underestimating the other club.

You can't feel sorry for a team who through away a tree goal lead. They were the one's who went out at half time thinking the game was wrapped up.Liverpool can only be comended for their heroic comeback.

It will be talked about and remembered for many years to come.

All I can say, after watching the match and drinking like b@astard too is.. OMFG... John Paul II must now be a saint, coz they were waiting for a miracle before they could canonize him... well, how much more of a miracle do they want???

Strange that the last time a pope died, Wales won the grandslam in Rugby and Liverpool were European Champions, and this year, the pope died, Wales won the Grandslam in Rugby and Liverpool are European Champions.
Anybody fancy knocking-off Pope Benedict next year so we can defend the title? :sly:

So who of importance died when England won the World cup? No reason realy (gets snipers kit ready) ;)
You could try to knock down the plane flying the Brazilian team to Germany. ;)

From the BBC website :-

BBC
THE AMAZING COINCIDENCES FROM 1981 AND 2005
Prince Charles gets married
Coronation Street's Ken and Deirdre gets married
There is a new Doctor Who
Norwich City and Crystal Palace are both relegated
Liverpool win 17 league games and finish 5th
Liverpool are crowned champions of Europe

1978 & 2005 COINCIDENCES
The Pope dies
The Welsh rugby team wins the Grand Slam title
The league winners (1978 Nottingham Forest, 2005 Chelsea) beat Liverpool in the League Cup final
Liverpool are crowned champions of Europe

Spooky huh?

Woohoo! UEFA have let us in to defend the title! Admittedly we've got to play 6 games to even get to the group stages, but at least they've seen partial sense and not excluded the Champions entirely!

Yea, i heard on the radio yesterday that UEFA will let liverpool defend their title. Other teams wont be to happy

It's great that we can defend our title, but the qualifying has messed up our pre-season, looks like we have to cancel the trip to Japan, as it clashes. I just hope we draw Everton in the 3rd qualifying round.

UEFA should have changed the rules after Real Madrid had the same problem a couple of years ago, they seem to find it hard to do the logical thing.

Not sure if anyone else saw this, but I just received it by e-mail & just had to share it!

Liverpool got beat 1-0, but it ended 3-1 on aggregate so they won overall.

And Man U WILL win something this year, they'll put up a bigger title challenge than Arsenal I bet.

Actually it was 3-2 on aggregate, but even so we're in Thursday's group stage draw. Benitez was able to rest some key players before Friday's SuperCup game against Moscow.
Can't really see Debrechen overturning a 3-0 United lead, but we live in hope....;)
Everton will have to play the game of their lives to get something at Villareal, but they're a team who blow hot & cold, so it depends which team turns up on the night!

We live in hope United will double that lead, yes, yes YES. I'm hoping Everton pull it off, they worked so hard last season, your right about their team they could turn up and sit in defence and do bugger all, or they could turn up and sit in defence and make some good breaks and score one of them. I don't like the style they play but it's all they can do with the squad they have. Owne has said he won't go there now, Newcastle have offered 15 million for him, Liverpool won't be wanting him back for 15 mil when they sold him for 8 last year. Owen wants to come to United, United would be better than Chelsea if.....
We bought Owen, sold Saha and Smith (but I really like Smith, he's 100% effort every game, not the most skillful though).
We could play a three pronged strikeforce, Van the man, Rooney and Owen. Then if we could get Michael Balak, we would be fantastic again. I don't see that happening though.

I do believe we did that tonight.

Everton were robbed, Collina is usually a good ref but he was total horse wank tonight, he robbed Everton and I feel sorry fo rthem because big Dunc got the equaliser and Collina dissalowed it for something that happend in the box than no one else saw, not even the replays, not even the commentators could see anything wrong. Theres nothing Everton can do about it now, but they did well to get back in that and they got punished for their effort.
