>>> UEFA Cup Thread 2004/2005 <<<

I don't agree at all with ex Champion's league teams being demoted to the Uefa cup. Not only does it lessen the respect for said cup, but gives a loser team like Olympiakos a second chance to win silver wear. It is espesialy unfair as teams like Newcastle and M'boro (who have worked their Teeside asses off) have been playing since the beginning of the cup. Imagine if one of these demoted teams wins the cup, it would be a joke just like Denmark in Euro 92.

At half time.

Heerenveen 1-0 Newcastle

GOL GOL GOL GOL GOL!

By Shearer.

2-1 Nice play by Kluivert and some slickness by Bowyer.

Edit: Haha, Bowyer got sent of and Souness still looks like a miserable git.

Sucks like a Bowyer, although I suppose it's good to get your victory now and get a good arse kicking on Saturday!

I'd rather not have Chelsea go bankrupt, sell all their players and get relegated. So I guess i'll say the cash injection was a good thing.

Malcolm Glazer can go screw himself. If more Oil barons buy into the premiership we're gonna end up with hit men attacking star players...

Jack, get online.

Yes, they do. Sol Campbell, Ashley Cole...

What happened was, Arsene Wenger fielded his whole 16 of pure international players, as all of his English players were either injured, ill or not playing for some other reason. That's the controversy.

The next step I see though, is like you said: a whole team of international players. Someone will do it.

Can't teams just win things to earn their money. Works for Arsenal.

And that's why they've struggled to build a new stadium and didn't buy anyone in transder window?

Yep, they're financially sound :irked:

Wenger buys when he has to. Can you remember the last multi million pound flop that he bought to Highbury? And how can they struggle to build a stadium when Emerates are sponsering the entire project, hence the Emerates stadium. Please.

With the ammount of money involved any club would struggle for money, and every club does to varying degree's when a new stadium is being built, this is normal and doesn't suddenly mean the club is unstable.

However I think Arsenal may become unstable next season if they don't win anything this year. I can see a few players leaving besides Bergkamp.

I can see a few players leaving, but I've got a feeling Wenger is scouting some undercover players. Along with the current young guns and the services of the older members, Arsenal should have no problems.

At least you've got Henry who's loyal, players like that don't come often, and top class players like that are even rarer. I think Nistelrooy's going to spend the rest of his career at united too, I think he's got that loyalty.

I think so. Fergie thought tooth and claw to bring Ruud to united, after the injury he endured while trainig for them. Henry...well his class speaks for it's self. People like Cole who want mega wages, meeting with other clubs don't deserve to play there.

It has taken them years to get a sponsor.

And I personally would have expected Arsenal to have constructed a bigger stadium years ago due to the limit capacity of highbury.

I understand that land in London is at a premium but to also have to have a top flight premiership club to be named after a sponsor, I think, is quite lame. What type of atmosphere does the name 'Emerates stadium' create?
