Lately I been experiencing a problem.

I can't seem to keep up with other people when drifting. I use the same tires as them When I come in the middle of the corner They seem to be going much faster.
Is it my drifting style or am I a slow drifter?

could be alot of things. most likely car choice. certain cars just go faster than others. It seems to be most related to rear tire size, although i doubt they directly put that in the physics. cars with a nice fat back tire can put more power to the road to go forward. cars with a little weight also can put some more power down generally speaking (like 1200-1350 kg i enjoy). On the other hand, if you tune the crap outta an AE86 and over power it, those little tires combined with no weight on them they will spin alot and generally not really go anywhere too fast, for me at least.

im talking from experience with comfort hards by the way.

and of course it could be ur style or whatever. maybe ur friends are hella fast too.

downforce pisses me off when i see people with big wings to help them go faster and i grin when im able to keep up. The spirit r rx7 comes with ajustable downforce as standard , so thats why i like the eifini rx7 better because it's more down to driving to be quicker. the rx7 comes with small wheel base and width is good so there fast from the start.

maybe you could be running to much power? ive always prefered low power more throttle than big power and feathering it. it's hust much faster . A maximum amount of bhp would be 450 for me. thats including all fast tracks that require power.

if you need help tuning maybe? add me : decobyrne106 and ill try get the best i can get out of your car. power, geometry, and basic power band.

yeah all valid points.

i run between 400 and 600. 600 on like the Vipers, ferraris, ect ect various supercars. theres no point rockin 900 hp all your accomplishing is more spin

yea and the RX7 is hella fast for sure

I believe it's down to how your car is geared. I always without exception have race gearboxes in my drift cars for this reason. I noticed that if your cars stock gearbox has gears that are a bit too long, you'll end up with the rear gripping and the revs dropping. And your drift will lose angle but gain speed, or even worse your car will staighten out. On the other hand if the gearing is too short you'll end up hitting the rev limiter too much, and your wheels will spin up to fast meaning less grip and less forward momentum.
So in my experience getting the gearing right is key to get the most angle/style and speed from any given drift car.

Gearing really helps in tandem drifts, but the most important part is how well you can adjust when you follow. When we tandem, we like to put the slowest person first and everyone else can adjust appropriately.

To know when you're REALLY ready to tandem, you find drifting alone to be the most boring thing ever

Many people online are drift racing and are trying to out-drift everyone in the lobby. It is WAY more fun drifting with friends non-competitively in a moderate pace in which everyone can enjoy 👍

You just have to find people that would like to really tandem with you. Most drifters online go on their own. I'm novice, and slow drifter, also I love to drift such oldies like Triumph or Alfa duetto, but I sometimes find people that drift we me even in waaaaay more powerful and faster cars than mine.

A really quick car is the Lexus ISF. I tried all of my FR drift cars, and none can keep up with a well controlled ISF. Not my GS300, RX7, S15, MX5, Viper, Camaro, Challenger.. Nothing can keep up...

OP, try a Japanese room. Those guys are generally adaptive drifters. Slowing down to match your speed

but in general what is the attributes of a fast drift car?
what makes eg, lexus isf good?
im still trying to figure this out and what i think is unrealistic is this low rpm high gear drifting(IRL your clutch would die in a mather of seconds.
witch seems to really on the fact the tires are just about to grip but the low end torque makes them spin.

when they patched in ballast i put 50 kg at the rear of my pontiac solstice and it got faster, but more slippery when i am off the throttle.

Its just your style bro. Some people are really fast while others are slow. Im a slow drifter so I try to tune my cars in a way that will allow me to get more angle.

I followed your guys help. And it turned out there was a couple problems I had when I tandem I found out today.

I was using 500hp cars and I Know now that it was too much so I started to limit myself to 450hp.
I started to up my aerodynamics. I thought it always was supposed to be 5 but then I increased in to 10-15 and it drifts great!
Now I can finally tandem with people
Thanks for your help:tup:

I use 5 and not to sound cocky but not alot of people beat me

I would have figured messing with the LSD settings to reduce wheel spin to increase speed as opposed to adding downforce. Don't think I run a GT wing on any of my drift cars unless it came with one already like the Amuse GT1 S2000. Whatever suits your style I suppose.

Well said Goracle... This is where I am at right now... I just want to tandem to work on my skill... I feel that being able to tandem is the ultimate skill...

I agree with this statement for the most part. I experience this all the time when I am jumping around the lobbies. People see me in a tandem with some random person and all the sudden they feel like they have to race me to an entry point. This is when I usually just pull to the side to let em pass or leave for another room.

I enjoy being the chaser as it forces me to adapt my drifting to the person in front of me. However, IMO drifting is supposed to be fast (but I don't mind slowing down to tandem with someone who has some skill). Unfortunately the hard part is finding people who CAN drift fast. Anyone can drift slow, but not very many can drift fast. In my opinion, this demonstrates far better skill than someone who can manji a straight away or drift slow.

No disrespect to anyone - this is just my observations... :sly:

Lately I been Messing around with my LSD and The new settings I been working on makes it much easier to be a chaser in a tandem situation.
I've been running the gt wing on cars with high amounts of torque "dodge viper, supra rz ect.
I found out that Cars around the range of 200-300 torques you don't need a wing as you have low torques so much less wheel spin.
Cars 300+ torques somewhat should have a wing unless if you have a good LSD setting.
