You're lucky I don't remember when the Volvo broke down on the way up to one of the Northern LANs...oh wait.

I fixed it, though :sly: The Volvo was in a permanent state of broken, it just sometimes stopped running...

Might be nice to establish who has what DLC too - there are some useful cars (and tracks) in there for UKGTP events.

I've got all the DLCs because I'm cool and have a girlfriend. Or I'm a sad fanboy. Yeah, that's the one.

We should probably work out who's sorting the VW handicap, or we'll probably have 5 identical events come March...

Though we'll need someone to make sure we don't run the same tracks or cars too often (and that'll be the organiser's job - and that's not me. Thank. 🤬 ).

What he said. I mean I.

I'll put something "else" together once I know what everyone's doing for their events. Be warned, the less bizarre you make your events, the more bizarre mine will be - and my kind of bizarre is an extra-special one.

Right. My life is utter chaos at the moment for a number of reasons, not least of which, I have to build the venue. (Explanation at a later date.)

So, EASTER (6-9th April) it is, not March. Smallhorses both a) won't be here, and b) won't play GT5, for some probably fairly sensible reasons.

Also, because these things are stressful to organise at the best of times, I shall be both inviting first and also limiting number of attendees. Any slots not filled after the initial tranche of invites will be thrown open to the forum.

All the details, including exact timings, will be announced in a separate thread.

Given the bug - which I have no reason to suspect will be absent from a LAN game - that's probably very wise.

So, I'd like to add the V12 Vantage to my Fat 🤬 Handicap, subject to testing. This does of course mean DLC, which would mean every has to have it. Who has the DLC, all of it, none of it, would rather we don't use it? I know numbers are limited and it'll probably be most of the regulars (who I'm assuming will have all the DLC, unless Roo's broken his...) who are part of the XV gang.

To break down the costs and to give my feedback:

Course pack - £3.19 for Spa and two Kart tracks (kart limited or possible hilarity in the Eco challenge?)

It's Spa. There you go, I've sold it to you ;)

Racing Car pack - £6.29

Maybe don't need this unless someone is planning a Touring car championship?

Car Pack 2 - £3.19

R35 GT-R, Coooper S, Golf VI R, Scirocco R.

Speed Test - £3.19

30km oval could be fun for fooling about with.

Car Pack 3 - £4.79

Aventador, XJR9 LM, V12 Vantage, Some VDUB, Cooper S Countryman (pretty thing) and the Leaf.

Leaf would be good for Eco challenge.

So, what do people think? Sooner we know what people want to do with regards to DLC the easier it'll be to organise, as the 9 weeks will go quickly!

Comes to about £20, though I don't think we'd use everything. Spa races would be awesome and I think the latest car pack has some useful cars in it.

GO!

[Not organising]

Route X is very useful in-game, but I doubt we'd use it for much other than shots and goggles - it's a bit expensive for that. Spa would be almost certainly on the list for something - and it comes with the two Kart Space tracks.

Car Pack 2 seems the least useful - unless someone does something with hatchbacks, the Scirocco, MINI and Golf are meh and could easily be substituted for something else anyway and the GT-R Black is a GT-R with more power. You might personally like them to build something up for EZ GT, but otherwise this might be skippable. Car Pack 3 has the Vantage and Aventador for usefulness and the Leaf for Algore - a high chance of usefulness. Car Pack 1 has a car that we will probably want to use, but high uptake isn't important (we need five, we've got four people with the pack that we know of already - I imagine more) - it's very useful for the game and the cars are largely quite like the RM cars in the fun stakes - so this one's not as vital.

I'd say the minimum everyone should have is Track Pack (Spa, Kart Space) and Car Pack 3 (Leaf, XJR9, Aventador, Vantage) for a total of £8. If everyone has all of the packs, of course, we can do more. If not everyone has any given pack, we cannot use it at all - but I doubt we'll use more than that anyway so it's not at all vital.

Which, coinkidinkily, is what I have. I may buy the [R]CP.

Wait, what? You chee... yeah, alright, technically, it could do with losing a few pounds.

You git. :D

Little bit of online testing last night and I think we'll want to use a Racing Car Pack car for at least one thing, though there are many of them and they are variously useful for things (the R35 TC is an excellent 650PP car for Seasonals and GT Mode races) so if we all have them, people planning races might have an easier time with the option.

I've created a track for my Fat 🤬 event. It's on my GTP account, I'm a little unsure on the first sector, I've made the corners a little less sharp there to improve the flow after the first corner, but the first corner is a bit more of one awesome corner when it's a little sharper.

Corner in the middle sector is awesome. All other 9 tracks are original, I thought one custom track would be fun, but see what you reckon, I could always throw in Trial Mountain instead. Bear in mind you'll be driving something heavy, try taking the RS6 avant or M5 around.

Given that I have in my possession a release day GT5 Collector's Edition (US release) that's still totally unopened, and sealed in it's protective cellophane, and that I'll be coming back to UK in March, would anyone be interested in taking it off me for their collection? (For a price of course!)
There's a convenient link in my signature at the moment if you want to see pictures. I know nothing about PS3 architecture, so I don't even know if this is compatible with UK machines or not.
Let me know and I'll throw it in my hand luggage if necessary, and make arrangements for it to be available for collection from Venari.
(I'll be passing Banbury a couple of times during my 2 week visit, travelling between Surrey & Cheshire, so it should be easy enough.)

This gives me incentive to retrim the passenger seat for Freddie. Good weather permitting, we can go for a blat. :D

Is there already any more news,

If possible I need to take some free days of work.:)

Is it just you joining us, Sjaak? Or have we got a Dutchie group again? :D

I've asked Famine to invite you in to a UKGTP social group, which gives loads of information on what you need to do to be prepared.

I've almost finished planning my 2nd event, as long as people have ~200k in their UKGTP account, we should be fine. Which is easy enough as we can always run a seasonal if people are short of moolah.

As Sjaak has that wee blue badge under his name, that's not strictly necessary.

Did a search but unfortunatly found nothing.

Last I know is the info Venari announced some time ago.

And no group this time, planning to come by myself ,if I am welcome ofcourse.

*fidgety* I hate not organising things  I'm not allowed to get involved... but...

As things stand, Ven isn't sure whether there's a venue or not - I think he'll find out this week. We've conferred and he's decided that we should keep it to twelve participants - due to space and the OLR bug - and he'll be inviting people to this end. I'd imagine that he'd invite former UKGTPers in preference (which you are :D - at the last one he organised a venue for, oddly!) but he'll be doing that in his own time - he has a couple of things requiring his time at the moment (one of which is sorting the venue for its primary purpose - his girlfriend's studio), but I can nag him a bit next week. I appreciate you'll have to book more expensive travel arrangements than the rest of us.

I'll throw a PM at you regarding the group - there's a bit of organising for each participant to do which everyone who attended the last one will have a leg up on, so I'll help you out as best I can with it.

Aha,that clears all,thanks for the info:tup:

*returns in practising mode*;)

ARG!

Venari stabs all Oxfordshire artists groups to death with sticks of celery.

Still no venue confirmation. :ouch: :irked: :banghead:

Hey Sjaak. Bear with me a few days, I'll be in touch.

Have you forgotten what daan drives? :sly:

If my wife comes along, I may be turning up in a

Rover 25. :( If it works. 2 AA callouts so far this year, and been in the garage on 2 other occasions. Mine was in at the end of last year for a new coil, and going in tomorrow for (probably) another one. We possibly have the 2 most unreliable cars in the UK. Go us...

Noooo!!! I want your wife to stay here with me whilst my husband is with you playing computer games!!

That.

It's Venari's event and that means he does things and his way.

... and if I can't secure the venue, there won't be an event. We are extremely annoyed with the owners of the building, they are so disorganised and lacklustre, we're beginning to query doing business with them at all.

If the venue isn't sorted by the end of this coming week (March 2nd), I shall be cancelling. I am changing jobs at the moment, and there will be too many other things to do. I already have no time for practice - and I can't have too many of you whupping my ass, now can I?

:ouch:

An Easter gig is off - i.e. this event as organised (hah, so far) is cancellerated.

:ouch:

When I REALLY have a CONFIRMED location, then I'll repost, we can reschedule and do it. Keep making up events. Anyone sending me a sensibly tested event by PM will automatically invite themselves (up to the maximum people limit.)

There will be an event, just... not yet.

For the best, really, be terrible to turn up on the day and find your head has exploded and MrsVen is having to push you around in a wheelchair, or something.

Ah, didn't see this, and I only just responded to Venari's PM, saying I couldn't make it on the dates specified. But if it's now happening on a later date, I could probably be free again...
