I spent about 4 days producing and editing my video entry, with screen shots of the site and Skip Barber footage of me on Laguna Seca. Regardless, the official contest rules made it clear that "video submissions must have never been published or professionally developed", and all entries were to be primarily judged based content, not creativity: "60% showing you are an ultimate Gran Turismo fan, 20% showing you are an ultimate car or race fan and 20% creativity". Anyways, they must have sent in good stuff, so congrats to both of them. 👍Congratulations, Jordan. I wonder how much weight they gave production value of your submission, because I am sure some people went insane putting something together. That is the only way I could see someone winning over you, is if they made a GT ad.
Maybe the Lucas Ordonez Make.Believe ad was the winning submission and Lucas won. I could see that beating out creating one of the most popular fan sites.
Yeah, I noticed that too and thought it was great, but it appears to have been removed.I thought it was nice that in the story, they put a link in for GTplanet. That will for sure bring in some new members!
Congratulations Jordan, very well deserved
I'm disappointed that my entry didn't get some recognition. Apparently playing GT for over 10 years is fine, but send them a film of yourself following Kazunori Yamauchi around everywhere and suddenly you've gone "too far".
Nice job, Sam, congratulations and thanks for stopping in. 👍 Did you send in a video, essay, or slideshow?Hey, this is Sam, I won second place in the contest. I just wanted to also congratulate Jordan on winning third. I pretty much knew someone from GTP would win but I didn't think it would be myself and the founder! Congrats!
You must really cut into their community plans. Anytime they have a Gran Turismo related post on the PlayStation Blog I find myself answering someone's question with a link to GTPlanet, but my post is held "waiting for moderation" for nearly 24 hours. Any other topic and link takes less than an hour to get cleared.Yeah, I noticed that too and thought it was great, but it appears to have been removed.
I think you are correct, as I have experienced quite a bit of disdain in my communication with Sony. It's very unfortunate, but I think it makes them uncomfortable to have the largest and most vocal gathering of the GT fan base beyond their control. My suspicions were reinforced after I talked with someone involved in licensing Sony products - they said they've never seen any company so concerned/protective/obsessive over any brand as much as Sony is over Gran Turismo. You must really cut into their community plans. Of course, if Sony did community stuff seriously they wouldn't need to worry.
Thanks, Sphinx! Yes, this was a US only event. Was it a US only event?
